I spoke with Tammy a few times beforehand to confirm the additional elements that would make the day special and she came through for us! She greeted us at our hotel shortly before 11 am in the morning, and chauffeured us in a large Suburban and had cold water bottles for us before we even hit the first winery. At the first winery, she arranged to have both the white and red wine flights for us to sample and guided us through what we were drinking. At the conclusion of the first tasting, she took us on a walk though the vineyard where she had set up some furniture and some flowers for my girlfriend between two rows of grape vines. My girlfriend thought that we were intruding on someone else's space, so she was surprised she I popped the question right there! Tammy snapped a lot of pictures for us during the occasion and I was grateful that we had some privacy in the middle of the vineyard for the moment. I also learned that Tammy had dragged out her own furniture to the winery the day before to make the moment perfect. After the tasting at the first winery, we had a quiet lunch at a local Italian restaurant which was able to accommodate my girlfriend's gluten- and dairy-aversion. We proceeded to a couple of other great off-the-radar wineries to close out the day, and we bought a total of nine bottles of wine to take home by the time we were done. I emailed her to make a reservation for a Fri tour and she answered us back promptly. Tour booked. She picked us up on time and we visited several vineyards and wineries. She guided us through the tasting process making the experience more enjoyable. She had a nice rapport with the owners/staff at the various locations which allowed for us to take a personal tour with owners of their facilities. One of our favorites was Waters Crest. In between the tours Tammy brought us to lunch which helped invigorate us for the rest of the tour. At the end of the tour, Tammy drove us back to our accommodations. We bought several great bottles of wine and had a great time with Tammy. I was also recovering from ankle surgery while we took the tour and Tammy was so accommodating. She let us store my rental wheelchair in her vehicle while touring. She picked the best places to visit and luckily I didn't need it once. The crutches worked just fine. I knew I wouldn't be able to find it at many liquor stores. But I was informed that Happy Cork would have it in stock. I was so impressed with the selection of the wines and other liquors available. I left with the Black Girl Moscato, Sable Bourbon and Brown Sugar Bourbon. The moscato was very good and the Sable Bourbon is definitely strong so I know it's a fancy spirit. I haven't tried the Brown Sugar Bourbon yet. I can't wait. I'll definitely visit this store again to try other black owned liquors.

I told him I'd called earlier and been told there was a good variety. He said he only works here two days a week. I told him I thought I could do better elsewhere and left. The wine tasting was on a Wednesday or Thursday night and I had work the next day. Oy! But I got off the couch and into the rain and went! On arrival I joined the rest of the group that had gathered. Tons of people from the neighborhood and I immediately turn on my charm and talk. I'm pretty good at it. Been working on it for years. Ha. Everyone received a paper of the wines we'd be tasting and a glass. There were much more to taste than I had expected. The order structured to compliment your palate. Soft sparkling bubbles, funky cloudy wine that tasted like a cider, robust fruity reds, dry and complex whites, a rose for good measure. Knowledge was shared by the host aka the wine expert. And I walked away later on that evening with a bag full of spirits, great memories, and feeling the spirit . I stayed behind with a few folks and got to taste the good stuff. I made out with one of their fantastic bitters from the brand Buckspice, which I'm hoping will punch up some of the cocktails I'll be making at home.
