While I picked them up and took them to my location, while I was there I admired the shop and could see myself lunching there if I were a local. Worst experience I ever had in a restaurant. We were in town for a conference and decided we wanted a pizza. Looked at reviews and decided to try Vince's. We first decided to eat in But after sitting awhile without being waited on decided to do a take out. The young girl at the register should not be taking orders. We said we wanted a to go order She did not know what that meant. Then she wanted to know if we wanted cheese on our pizza. I told her I wanted red sauce and cheese just like the one that was right there in the case. I asked her if their mushrooms were fresh or canned and she said she didn't know. I then said I would like ham on the entire and half mushrooms on the pizza. After waiting 40 minutes the pizza was completely wrong. "No mushrooms and chunk tomatoes instead ". She then proceeded to argue with us about never asking for mushrooms. Then to top it off a woman who was her mother starting attacking me about questioning her daughter. It took another 40 minutes to make the correct pizza. No apologies were ever given. My mistake was not asking for my money back and going somewhere else for a pizza. read more

We arrived in Johnstown on Valentine's Day and other places were all booked up so that's how we ended up at Vince's. I will say that I found the prices to be good and the portions very generous. There seemed to be only one waitress who was at the counter with many customers standing around waiting for their orders. She said we could sit down and she'd be over. It was a bit of a wait. At the time there were only 2 other tables occupied but a few tables that hadn't been cleaned off yet. It seemed kind of weird to have only one server on a night like that which also happened to be a Friday night. Once ordered, our food did come rather quickly. I had the shrimp parmigiana and the shrimp were a nice size. I thought the sauce was lacking something though. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs and his meatballs were very large. He thought the sauce tasted sweet. I wanted to get some parmigiana cheese but the one waitress was busy with another table that had just sat down. I went and asked someone at the counter and she said I could open the fridge and take one out. To my surprise, there were little disposable containers of parmigiana cheese for .25! I never saw such a thing. I didn't take one just on principle. Not to mention all that plastic waste with those little containers. That was quite a turn-off. What a great place to stop! I was driving through going up to Burlington from Michigan and stopped by this place because it seemed like it would be cheap and convenient. It was exactly that! Very reasonably priced for the slices, and has a great family feel! We even met Vince the owner and his son Antonio. They make a great team and provided really good service! The pizza was classic new york style and it was thin, crispy and delicious. I make this drive every couple years or so and will be prioritizing stopping here every trip going forward! read more

The dough on the pizza is very floppy, almost undercooked. The cheese is very low quality, its very easy to tell. It has very runny consistency. As for the sauce, its awful. Here is what I have found moving to upstate New York: there's a pizza place on every corner. Here is what I have also learned: not everybody should own a pizza place. Luckily, that isn't the case at Vince's in Johnstown. I love this place because every time I go in there are about 15 different slice pies available to choose from. These pies range from the average cheese pizza or Sicilian, to the premium ham and pineapple and meat lovers, all the way to the strangely satisfying macaroni and cheese and buffalo chicken pizza. Are all of them great? Not exactly. The macaroni and cheese lacks depth and the Buffalo chicken is overly salty, but some people like that in their pizza so I can't fault them, and those flavors do make a nice change from the regular old choices. Now, if you want good customer service in the area, Vince's is one of the best, hands down. Not to mention, they keep it pretty inexpensive so you are not breaking the bank if you just want a slice. Oh, Vince's. A mighty fall from grace. Vince's used to be my favorite pizza spot in town. I have such fond memories of this place from my youth. Which is why I keep giving them a chance at redemption. I check in on them a few times a year and it just keeps getting worse. I'd be willing to bet that nostalgia plays, at least a small part, in keeping them afloat. People who, like me, remember grabbing slices and a cannoli with friends after school, ordering pizza and wings on Friday nights. These days, I order hoping that they might have actually listened to their customers complaints and returned to their former glory. Unfortunately, they have not. Recently, I ordered a MEDIUM pizza, hot wings and mozzarella sticks to go. I requested my pie cooked extra well done and my wings extra crispy. The reason: this place now has a reputation for serving undercooked and even raw food (more on that later). Well, what I received was not only disappointing, it was disgusting. Some of it literally inedible. The LARGE pizza (I ordered a medium) that I requested cooked extra well done, was severely undercooked. The center of the pizza's dough was raw, the cheese barely melted. I believe that they are using prepackaged, pre-shredded cheese. I suspect this is either due to the lower cost of the product, or the cost of labor to pay an employee to shred it. Pre-shedded cheese is coated in an anti caking agent that prevents the cheese from melting properly. This, coupled with insufficient cooking time, results in what I can only describe as looking like an uncooked Lunchable "pizza". This is just my theory, but it adds up. Surprisingly, that was not the worst of it. The chicken wings that I ordered extra crispy were soggy and RAW in the center. I realize that takeaway wings may not arrive crispy due to the condensation that forms inside the styrofoam container. I ordered extra crispy to ensure that they were cooked thoroughly. Instead, they served my family RAW CHICKEN! The mozzarella sticks had burst. Leaving us with exploded cylindrical shaped breading slightly covered in mozzarella. Obviously due to the fact that they overcooked them, leaving the majority of the cheese in the fryer. Funny, that was the one item that I didn't ask for well done. The wife offered to salvage this disaster by finishing cooking the pizza and wings to make them edible. I was so livid that I suggested we go out for dinner. With the family in agreement, our entire order from Vince's took it's rightful place in the dumpster. On top of all of this, I was charged for a large pizza, not the medium that I ordered. $50 total, not including tip. I paid $50 to feed dumpster rats. Almost a weeks worth of groceries on the way to the landfill. I didn't call to complain or ask for a refund. We just won't be back. Unless, by some miracle, they get it together and turn things around. My intent with this review is not to further damage the already sullied reputation of this once great establishment. They seem quite capable of doing that on their own.. My hope is that the owners will wake up. I want them to care about the quality of their food and satisfaction of their customers. It appears that the owners are currently just going through the motions. No passion, no pride. Any and all customer complaints seem to fall on deaf ears. The proprietors of this establishment appear to take the attitude of "the customer is always wrong". I've personally witnessed staff become aggressive when interacting with a rational customer with a botched order simply asking to get what they paid for. I would love nothing more than for Vince's to return to it's former glory. I would be their best customer and champion. Unfortunately, I don't see it in the cards. Their passion for quality and excellence has fizzled long ago. Such a shame. read more

As a bronx native and refugee from downstate new york, I take my pizza very seriously. Finding decent pizza north of orange county has been close to impossible. That said, vince's has close to the best ny pizza I've had upstate since moving up here. I first sampled their neapolitan slices at a street fair in johnstown earlier this summer. Since then, I've picked up both a neapolitan and Sicilian pie to go. Both were pretty close to ideal. I'm sorry some were displeased with the servers. But this is the best pizza for 100 miles in any direction! read more

A place my girlfriend had me eat in, and wow am I happy to do so. Really friendly workers who bust their butts to get you what you ordered. I've been there several times (and ordered as well) and have always been satisfied. My girlfriend especially absolutely adores their garlic parmesan wings and I agree. Their pizza is especially good, and I recommend the pepperoni. The environment is also good and it definitely feels like an Italian restaurant. Oh boy where do I begin? I usually try to start off positive but that's not the case with this place. Upon sitting ourselves in the dining room we had a short 15 minute wait before we were even asked what we would like to drink and if we would like to see a menu. At that point should've said thank you gotten up and left. After we got our water without lemon, yes they screwed up a water order. We ordered chicken wings and a salad and pizza. Was reasonably impressed only took 20 minutes for the salad to arrive along with the chicken wings both were acceptable. Now for the pizza, the waitress coming out informing me that the pizza ticket was forgotten this was 45 minutes after I ordered it. A half hour later the pizza finally made its grand appearance. The pizza much like the wings and the salad was acceptable. That's a total of almost 2 hours for a pizza. Took us three attempts to get the waitress to bring us containers for the pizza we didn't have time for and a salad we didn't finish. Needless to say we won't be going back. :( read more

All these new workers just can't seem to get anything right. I come in ask for them to make my pizza crispy then get home and they just don't listen. This is about everytime. I also have always paid $2 a slice never any tax. Lately for two slices i was charged 60 cents. Then the next time 40 cents it changes everytime and then sometimes just the $2 dollars. Vince's used to be my pizza place of choice after first moving to New York. However, that was 9 years ago and Vince's has gone down hill since. Past several orders ( I gave multiple attempts ), have been terrible. The pizza has consistently been undercooked and lacking of toppings. I do not normally post reviews, however, after my last attempt, I need to. Since Vince's is closest to my apartment, I attempted to order a pick up order on Saturday night. I started calling at 9:28 and continued to do so for 15 minutes. The phone rang and rang without an answer. I understand the place closes at 10pm, however, a pizza place should not stop answering their calls over 30 minutes before closing. I am not alone in my thoughts, after complaining about this- I have heard MANY negative opinions. This was my 2nd favorite pizza in Johnstown, I think I liked Market Street's pizza a little more. The dough here is good, it's a little sweet, as is the sauce. they didn't put a ton of cheese on the pizza but that's how i like it. the pizza isn't too crisp, so the slices can get a little floppy, and that's probably the worst part about the pizza. I wasn't a fan of the buffalo wings. they weren't crisp at all and the sauce was really weird, it was thick and kinda paste like but it didn't stick to the wings. I have been traveling for many years and eaten in many different restaurants... Tonight on the spare of the moment I chose to look at what was available on yelp in regards to someplace good to eat and quick. Vince pizza pasta was rated pretty decent. So I decided to head over to Vince to order something to eat. I placed an order for a bowl of chicken soup at the cost of $3.25 and I placed an order of a medium pie which was called a six cut didn't understand what that really meant. I asked the counterperson what does a six cut mean and also what is a medium. My response was the medium was slightly bigger than the small and the six meant six slices. The pizza was 8 slices and it wasn't even cooked properly. The chicken soup had an abundance of something green which is attached to the photo with somebody please tell me what this abundance of green that's in the soup. The soup did not even taste like it was an Italian chicken soup. In my opinion don't waste your time energy or money. Besides the fact the location needs to have a remodeling designer. read more

The pizza is normally vary good. Some times ordering over the phone can be lets say interesting but for the most part it's fine and normally friendly. The only real issue is the lack of any real schedule for when there open. Had this happen a few times, call up and they say no more deliverers even though there not closed for another hour. Can not fined any place on there add/menu that says they stop delivering an hour before they close but ok I can understand that to really. What really pisses me off is when they close early, or like tonight say they close at 9pm when everything online and on menu says 10pm on Thursdays. Not the first time this has happened. read more

Pizza had chewy dough that seemed like it hadn't been cooked through. Linguine with broccoli sat in a bucket of oil. My wife could barely eat it, just choking down a few of the pieces of overcooked broccoli. Penne vodka was heavily creamed. Limited options in the town, but would not return. read more

How anyone can say anything negative about Vince's is shocking to us. I have NEVER seen an unhappy customer, or expression on anyone working their.
