two slices of pizza on paper plates

Here is what I have found moving to upstate New York: there's a pizza place on every corner. Here is what I have also learned: not everybody should own a pizza place. Luckily, that isn't the case at Vince's in Johnstown. I love this place because every time I go in there are about 15 different slice pies available to choose from. These pies range from the average cheese pizza or Sicilian, to the premium ham and pineapple and meat lovers, all the way to the strangely satisfying macaroni and cheese and buffalo chicken pizza. Are all of them great? Not exactly. The macaroni and cheese lacks depth and the Buffalo chicken is overly salty, but some people like that in their pizza so I can't fault them, and those flavors do make a nice change from the regular old choices. Now, if you want good customer service in the area, Vince's is one of the best, hands down. Not to mention, they keep it pretty inexpensive so you are not breaking the bank if you just want a slice. If you happen to be in the Johnstown area, hit up Vinces pizza. You won't be sorry!

I try to look at the good at restaurants because I know the restaurant business is hard work. When the person answering the phone told me they weren't taking orders because their delivery person is not there yet, I should have known. I don't know what a delivery person has to do with a take out order. My wings were not made, the sauce was on the side, my pizza was burnt. I tried to stop the order but the hostess was not even paying attention to me. If you were not ready, don't open and don't take orders. My last order from Vince's.

Best pizza in all the Land! It helped me Land this fine gal. If it wasn't for the pizza being amazing I would have never had a shot!

Best veal sorrento I've ever had. Generous portions at a great price as the dinner came with salad and homemade bread.

Don't waste your time ordering anything from this place get a load of the photo. It is Mast with oregano etc. etc.

I have fond memories of eating the Sicilian-style pizza as a child and then as an adult, out on my own before I moved away. Coming back at almost 50, I was just hoping the food would kind of be the same, but it was like a taste of childhood. The pizza is the best I've found in Gloversville and Al's is still Al's. Either you're a local and know the spot, have been told about the spot, or did a search online because they pizza shop itself has no sign to lead the way. Their bread is also phenomenal and exactly like my youth as well. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Your pizza is still in my top three ever eaten! We'll be back!

Al's Pizzeria should be renamed "Under Construction Pizzeria & Deli." This Gloversville institution…read moredefinitely as a lot of character. The interior of this cozy old pizza shop looks as though it's been under renovations for quite a while. The menu boards, fixtures, small grocery shelves are covered in plastic, brown paper/cardboard taped to the floor, and cardboard shaped cutouts hang on the walls and labeled with black marker with what's supposed to be hanging including clock, pictures, and several G'ville sports plaques. There are current NFL schedules taped on the glass counter for the Giants, Jets, and Bills. However, there are outdated The X-Factor/Pepsi promos in the store and depicts two ex-judges (Paula & Nicole) from the first season. Al's Pizzeria sells round and sheet pizzas, pizza slices, subs, cold salads, dinners, and homemade bread loaves at fair prices. In the cooler, bottled Pepsi products, cold beers, and milk are offered too. I ordered a 12 cut Sausage Sheet Pizza, which was ready in about 30 minutes as promised. I used an Entertainment coupon and the pizza was just under $8 with tax. The rectangular thin crust pizza had a light airy, but firm crust with thick crisp edges, ideal for breaking off into breadsticks. The pizza had a good amount of thick tomato sauce, sprinkled with not too much mozzarella cheese and chunks of spicy ground Italian sausage. I enjoyed this good family style sausage pizza over several days for snacks and lunches. I would probably return here again if I wanted inexpensive slices of pizza, but I'm crossing my fingers with a small glimmer of hope that the pizza shop may be fully renovated on a future visit. As a previous reviewer noted several years ago, the shop was under construction then and it's still under construction today. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

The inside is homey, with a lot of little things hung around to look at. The single waitress running the lunch hour was delightful. She worked quickly and never skipped a beat. You could tell the other patrons here were regulars, since I didn't even hear them place an order, but their lunch was set down in front of them. The special board had great deals. The baskets came with fries and slaw, for $7.99. Great deal. This place is known for their hotdogs and burgers, but I wasn't in the mood for that, next time! I opted for the chicken wing wrap with no sides. It was SO fresh. It was filled with crispy chicken bites coated in a really good buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomato and blue cheese. I really enjoyed it. The wrap itself was super good and soft and fresh as well. The meal was quick, cheap and homey. I'll certainly be back next time I forget lunch at work.

Point to be made, it was NOT crowded, a table of 3 in the backroom and then the 2 of us, so for the time we waited was kind of strange. Food should have been better. Good milkshake.
