We were sitting in a corner of the bar, keeping to ourselves and enjoying our night. Out of nowhere, another customer approached us and began speaking to us disrespectfully. We hadn't interacted with her or done anything to provoke the situation. What made the experience especially disappointing was that the bartender acknowledged that this customer is a regular and that she has caused similar situations in the past. The bartender ultimately sided with her and asked us to leave instead. Throughout the interaction, the bartender was condescending and spoke down to us about a situation we did not start. We came to have a good time and were treated unfairly for someone else's behavior. Unfortunately, the way this was handled left a very negative impression, and I can't recommend a place that treats customers this way. read more

First - the bar had a horrible smell when we walked in, but we decided to still give them a chance. Night started out great, we had a few rounds of drinks and played darts. Then when playing the claw machine a lady, who apparently was a regular, walked over and said it wasn't that cool. After telling her to stop being the fun police, the bartender came over and attacked us out of nowhere. This was my first time in Port Washington and I have been to many bars, in many different city's, and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I would NEVER recommend anyone ever going here. There has to be better establishments in this beautiful city that I will surely check out in the future read more

We stopped in for the Bloody Mary happy hour and we're not disappointed! My husband usually prefers tequila to vodka but the bartender sold us on the house infused vodka and told us their bloody won best in the Bloody Mary Walk 4 years in a row. The bloody was very tasty and came with some toppings like a cheese block and olive with a pickle in it. The place was pretty empty so the bartender chatted a bit and told us the bar has around a thousand beers and 265 whiskeys. The menu they have is huge and definitely could take some time to look through. They were out of a couple of things we ended up asking about but with so many choices it wasn't an issue. read more

Sir James Pub had great service, amazing beer and seltzer selections, a really fun fall drink menu, and some great karaoke drink specials. We went for the early end of karaoke. They didn't have a ton of singers but played some fun music videos in between singers. read more

This pub is a must do if you like beer and you are visiting Port Washington. They have everything available. The crowd was a mixture of tourist like my wife and I and quite a few locals. We had a great time and we would definitely hit it up again if we end up back in the area. read more

I hate to be that guy but this place was so vile it caused me to have to make a yelp account just to share my experience. This pub has the toxicity of a politically charged social media comment section. (Has nothing to do with politics btw) By far the worst experience I've had at a bar since I was 21. Idk what the bar owner is going through but he would ask me a question and then talk over me to assert some kind of power and authority in the conversation before I could even get a word out and immediately argue with everything and anything I say. (Felt like a South Park skit) He was openly being rude to other customers trying to order. The bar is basically empty mind you. There is a rancid smell of piss stains covering most of the bar but especially the carpeted area which is right outside the bathroom for some reason. Could be that they've had sewage issues but it definitely smells like somebody has just been letting it rip right on the floor and it's been soaking it all up for years like a giant sponge. When I attempted casual conversation I was met with an immediate condescending tone reinforced by insults and lying to other customers to get them on his side for the night followed by brain-rot level gaslighting. He talks about how this bar is a safe place from the "bullies" as he calls them but it would appear that he is exactly that. If I were you I wouldn't spend my money or time there unless you want to deal with a snobby narcissistic man child for the night. Overall we tried to ignore him and pretend he wasn't so insufferable but it definitely ruined everyone's night at the end. I'd have to give this the lowest score possible. There is so much more to write but I just don't have more time to give to this review. read more

This bar only cares about novelty- they can say that they have over 1000 beers in stock but does that have any merit if most of the beer is too old to serve? This is our second time here and both times we ordered beer from the cooler that shouldn't have been served. Tonight my husband ordered a sour that tasted old and was chunky. I ordered an IPA from Trillium, and I could tell immediately that the beer was old. The beer had black sediment from the can, and I did a little research on Untappd and it looks like the beer was at least a year old (way past prime for this style of beer). The thing that bothered me the most is the owner KNEW he'd served me an old beer and never circled back to check up on us even though there were very few people in the bar. After a half hour we decided to flag down the lady working to pay our bill and didn't say anything- but I really wish I would have. 31 dollars for 4 beers, two of them them essentially undrinkable. read more

Was introduced to this place by some friends on our way up to Door County last weekend. They told me the beer list was incredible. I looked up at the chalk board and saw 15 or so beers, most of which didn't seem that impressive to me. One of my friends noticed the puzzled look on my face, as I wondered what was so special about the place and asked the bartender for the binder. The binder was at least an inch think and listed over 900 beers! Ohhhh, now I get it. Then I started paging through the binder, organized by beer category and also by name, or so I was told. I saw some very impressive beers listed in the binder, and ordered a couple, including a very rare find. It's not just the beer list that makes this bar great. It has that divey, neighborhood corner bar look and feel to it, which great décor made up of beer cartons, cans, and bottles. Lights were being put up during our visit. But that's not all. The staff really knows their shit! There were three on site, including an owner. The young lady putting up the lights stopped to answer questions about some of the beers in house and provided very detailed answers. I wouldn't be surprised if she tried all 900+ beers more than once. I plan to make special trips to Port Washington, just to visit Sir James Pub. There is a hotel down the street and within walking distance, so I can make a night or weekend of it! read more

I don't drink too much and I don't even think I've ever really been to a pub that isn't part of a restaurant. But I met a childhood friend here after she had recommended it and it was cool! The guy at the bar was nice and they have a ton of options. I can't even remember the name of the cider that I tried but it was very good! I don't drink cider often but I really liked it! We were in town for a fishing trip and stopped here for a beer while waiting for friends to arrive. We're from Chicago and needed a Spotted Cow! The bartender was super friendly and very knowledgeable about beer. He helped us pick some different local ones to try for the next round. We loved this place so much that we came back later that night with the rest of our group! There is nothing like a nice, cold beer after a day of fishing. I prefer whiskey because I'm an old man, but this was a beer bar! This time, there was a different bartender. He promptly came over to get the guys' order, but completely ignored me. He didn't even make eye contact and I was right freaking there! There were three of them (I was the only female) and they all ordered one beer each so it wasn't like someone ordered for me. He also ignored me after bringing their drinks. I flagged him down and finally got a beer. The second time around, he talked me out of getting a Pumpking because he obviously didn't want any money. I ended up choosing something cheaper. Maybe he figured that because I'm female, I don't know crap about beer or deserve any respect. I mean, 500 beers is just too much for a woman to know anything about! Oh, and obviously lil ol me shouldn't be drinking those large bottles of craft beer. I don't think you would categorize the bar as a dive bar but if you did, it would be the best in Wisconsin. The bar is nestled on the main street in Port Washington. If you like whiskeys and beer, this is your place. They have beer from all over the country including from Sounthern California. We really enjoyed our time there and recommend honey blonde on tap. The drinks took some time to get served, the bartender was too busy talking to his female guests instead of serving me 3. A beer-drinker's dream! I have lived in Port Washington most of my life and spent my childhood watching somebody from the pub brave the always-scorching-hot Fish Day parade in full knight's armor, but never went in until recently. I was so surprised - and disappointed I hadn't came in sooner. Their beer selection is HUGE. They have a few hundred different kinds, many bottled and several on tap. They also have plenty of spirits, including a proper absinthe shot with the sugar cube melted in. I think the decor is fantastic, although some may find it off-putting. You get the feeling that the decorations weren't purchased because they are old and kitchy, but that they have just been in the bar long enough to become antique. There are plenty of neat Medieval-inspired items, the ceiling is wallpapered with various beer packages, and there is a terrifically creepy life-sized sea captain statue seated at the bar. In the two times I have gone, I haven't been able to figure out the crowd - once it was loud, early 20s, once it was a quieter, older set - but both times I had the same bartender, who was a sweetheart, and I enjoyed myself very much. I'm not a fan of bars, but I always make it a point to stop here when I visit home. All my friends love this place, and they introduced me years ago. Brought my girlfriend up from Texas to meet the family and was very welcome here! The gentlemen that works part-time gave us the history of the place and all the beer that has come through, joked around, and brought us water after our beer. I love this place! The selections are always changing. The owner, Jason is always willing to offer suggestions and answer any questions you have. Jason has also made some great improvements to the bar the past couple of years since he took ownership. Most notably adding air conditioning and a credit card machine. I was sad to see that the original Captain at the end of the bar is gone now, and even more sad to hear that it was because some drunk kid punched his head off. This place is such a cool staple in Port Washington and totally worth checking out if you love beer. read more
