I was seated where I could watch kitchen and I observed the 1 and only cook handle food without gloves (FDA recommends avoiding bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods) and boasted chicken is considered just that. There was a very bare simple menu so I ordered a cheeseburger and chips and he got the white chicken. I literally saw cook put the chicken in basket bare-handed and let my husband know that while he brought our order to window and I watch waitress bring over. My cheeseburger was well over-done as was the grilling of the bun which I ate some due to not having eaten and didn't want to wait longer, but the chicken was so overcooked that you could barely use fork to peel away a bite on the breast. When he finally got a bite, it was so dry that even dipping in ranch didn't help. The outside was very dark considered to other places we've gotten chicken from. Now, I was very impressed with the service compared to prior years at watermelon days, but the food was much better. I did see staff going back to try to help, so bonus stars for that. My husband did talk to owner who was very understanding and seems to really care about her bar and restaurant, and had 2 breasts remade but they ended up to be the same way unfortunately. Maybe for bigger crowds, have more people in kitchen the whole time so food is not overcooked for which should be discounted some to customers that do receive it that way. Next year we will eat at cafe or drive to Battle Lake before street dance.

It's sort of a "Panera" setup where you order with a person or at a kiosk then they deliver food and drinks to your table. I had some customizations to make for the kids and everything came out correctly. The bread is incredible! The meats, toppings, flavors - everything is delicious. Even the white queso was some of the best I've had with nice chunks of green chiles. It's *really hard* to make all 3 of my kids happy at the same restaurant and this one nailed it. Why would they assume before even getting the bill that it was being paid by credit card. They are not disclosing how much the credit card fee is, and hiding it at the bottom, like paying cash gives you a discount. This is so disingenuous. Inflated amounts are being used to base tips on and I am not falling for this B.S. To the owners....Just do the right thing before you chase off all your good customers.

I decided to get a pastrami and a pulled pork sandwich to go. The kid behind the counter actually heated up the two meats in a pan, I thought that was a nice touch. The lady was very nice and served it to me with a smile. I got 4 elk burgers to grill and I have had two. They are kind of gamey in a nice way and super lean. I will add some salt and pepper to it when I grill it up tonight. I might even add a slice of pepper jack to add a little fat to the meal. Part of the original town this building was the old town general store. Is one of the three buildings still standing. Foosball table, or an assortment of table games. Staying at the resort it is within walking distance. Perfect for some chill time or when it's raining. We decided to try some lunch. I got the Happy Herbivore with a twist. The lady who worked the says she likes it with bacon, so that's what I did. She called it the Happy Hypocrite. It was a vegetation sandwich with tomato, onion, cucumber, sprouts, swiss cheese and mayo on sourdough. The bacon was the perfect touch. Hubby got the rhubarb which he enjoyed greatly.
