We ordered the green beans and prawns (AMAZING!!), potato & mushrooms (comes out layered kind of and is sweet), Brie and jamugo sandwich (simple but still so good), cod with honey (and cheese and tomatoes it's so sweet and good), beef (perfectly cooked) on bread, squid and mushroom lasagna (layered mushroom squid and prawns), and the bread pudding for dessert (we watched them making it all night so had to try it and it was worth it!!). Honestly we probably ordered too much for two people but we finished it all so I wouldn't say you can't do it... For the quality and quantity of food we got I think it was a great price too (64 euros). Vinitus has a great ambiance, kind staff, and a bustling atmosphere. We saw every night that the line was down the street! So with the host's advice, we came around 7 and were seated immediately. The food I am undecided on. On the bright side, the ingredients were good and they were definitely the stars of the show. On the bad side, that meant that there wasn't much interest in the food or flavor. Things were pretty bland. Also, with the big group we were with, we needed to order a lot of dishes, and after the first round, we struggled to find items on the menu that interested us, and none of the earlier ones we ordered were good enough to be ordered again. We were warned at the start that we had a 2 hour maximum to dine. 5 minutes before our 2 hours were up we were asked by a staff member we hadn't seen before to leave. We thought that was pretty low-class to kick us out 5 minutes before our time. Small complaint but being asked to leave an establishment never feels good! We were able to get in without a reservation (but I'd strongly recommend it), not a long wait before we were headed to the lower level of the restaurant. A super friendly staff. Not the best tapas I've had by a long shot, but not awful either. The shrimp with garlic had some good flavors (a bit overcooked though). The calamari was probably the best thing we had. The sangria was also good. The patas bravas weren't terrible, but nothing I would go out of my way to order. The Spanish omelette had really thick cuts of onions in it which I just think is weird/gross. The crema Catalana was Ok. The pane con tomate was not good at all. Neither was the lobster paella (rice undercooked, lobster over cooked). The blistered shishito peppers were meh. The service was terrible. You should still learn the basics of the language before you travel to another country. We managed to slide in before the dinner rush for my birthday supper, and it was fantastic. They have a base menu, but they also have a list of daily tapas specials. We also ordered a half pitcher of sangria and it was a little stronger than what I'm used to back home. Everything we had was delicious, service was fast and professional, and we had a great time. My wife and I went to Vinitus when we were in Barcelona over the Christmas break. We saw the reviews and pictures on Yelp and decided we just had to try it. When we arrived at the restaurant it was completely packed. There were about 15 people in line ahead of us but the restaurant was quite large and even had a few tables outside with heat lamps, so we only ended up waiting about 30 minutes before getting seated. The bar/kitchen was like an island in the middle of the room. It was all luck of the draw but we ended up sitting at the smaller side of the island that only had six seats on it. They were by far the best seats in the house and I am certain sitting there added to our overall dining experience. Everything we ordered was fantastic - easily the best tapas we've ever had. And we just had so much fun. I think we tried about ten different types of tapas/pinchos and we must have spent a good two, two and half hours there - looking at the menu and deciding what to order, eating, drinking, chatting with the staff, and eating some more. Everyone who worked there was in a good mood and really friendly. We will be back the next time we're in Barcelona. Highly recommended. Five stars. read more

Amazing experience all around. Waited about 45 minutes to get in and it was well worth the wait. Sat at the communal table in the middle which was fun because we met and chatted with the guests on either side. I'll never remember everything we ordered but I know we went through a couple of pitchers of cava sangria which was great. This is hands down the best restaurant I've been to in Madrid -- I came here on a Wednesday evening around 8:30pm and was able to get a table for 3 almost immediately, although this is probably not the norm. We tried a variety of tapas but the standouts were the suckling pig, cod with honey, cheese tart, and bread pudding. The interior and location makes it seem like this place would be a tourist trap -- but I was blown away by the unique flavors and twist on traditional tapas dishes. There was a really long wait when I went, but they had the option to sit at the bar which cut down on the wait time a ton. I had the red shrimp, the baby squid, and a potato croquette. The red shrimp was good, probably my favorite out of the bunch. It had a nice sauce on top and tasted very fresh and was well made. The baby squid was okay, it basically just tasted like fried calamari, but with squid instead. The batter was a bit salty and so it took away a bit from the taste of the squid, as I was tasting just a lot of batter and salt at one point. Came here for dinner and the place was bustling. The waitress led us to a ramp leading to a lower level with more tables and people with a view of an open kitchen. We ordered the grilled razor clams (navajas a la plancha) and fried small fish - possibly small anchovies (pescadito frito) and was recommended the monkfish tail (colita de rape) with caramelized onions and potato. The monkfish tail was the special of the day and it was beautifully cooked and delicious. I have always loved the fried fresh seafood in Spain and these are no exception. The lightly battered crispy fish just tasted fresh and naturally sweet. It is something I can't replicate in the US. Wow the best seafood paella we've had in Spain (tried paella in Madrid and Seville). The bacalao was different than the one we had in Portugal; definitely Vinitus set a high standard in the caliber of food they serve.
