Over past two years, I tried to get a glass of wine on at least 8 visits. Only one time did I receive welcoming service. I live only a few blocks away but am moving out of the area so I thought I'd share. Each time I was ignored for at least a few minutes, couples and known regular customers were always catered to and there's only a few customers. Great location, beautiful view from patio of the mountains. The guy employee is great. I'm bewildered by this area. It's common. But here's where businesses lose potential RETURN customers...you and others should treat everyone nice even if they don't drink or dine every week or join a club. It pays off. I'm not poor by any means. In the Bay Area, Walnut Creek to Pleasanton, the over all customer service is much better than this Reno area. Too bad. Because of your repetitive customer service, I bought my wine bottles from Whispering Vine south end and 4th street. My wine collection is around 90, and most are from 2000-2008. Not much but at my age, after a long aggressive career, I really appreciate kindness and acknowledgement. Good luck. read more

The customer service can very much so make or break a business. I was excited to see a Vino here in Nevada, since our local CA location closed last year. One of the owners, Karen, greeted me right away and was very helpful and friendly. She had great options available in the tasting flights (all reds for me), and I walked away with a bottle of Pinot Noir. If I lived in Reno I could certainly see this being a go to spot with a book and glass of wine on frequent occasion! There are several varieties available on the wall for purchase, and at least 10 available for tasting. I didn't take the opportunity to grab a snack here, but will do so next time around! read more

GROSS. The inside of the wine bar is dusty and filled with very old items. For example, they have iPhone 4 cases for sale! The wine selection is horrid bottom shelf trash. Zero ambiance to enjoy since you're surrounded by disjointed clutter and dust. Really regret coming in here. read more

This store is so cute, and if one lives in South Reno: so convenient. I appreciate the detailed descriptions from the owner and staff of the bottles for purchase. I also appreciate the range of prices: a solid under-$10 selection and then bottles ranging from $11 to $30 for the most part on the main shelves. If I had girlfriends who also lived in the south part of town, I would most definitely suggest meeting here for wine or cocktails and snacks. The tables are nicely spread apart: close enough to be cozy and yet not to close to be nosy. Why only four stars? The printing and paper and design of the menus was hideous. Yes, keep them in plastic trifolds because for convenience. But don't have it look like a fifth grader designed it in Paint and then printed it crookedly! Those of us who are accustomed to hipster urban drinking will not stand for poor menu design! read more

This is a nice, quaint wine bar on the south end of town. We were in the area for lunch next door and stumbled on this place by coincidence. They have a good selection of wines by the bottle along with a full bar and a selection of various microbrews too. The owner rotates the 'wine by the glass' menu often and has a good selection of reds and whites, about 8 varieties for each along with one or two sparkling wines. They offer a small selection of appetizers that pair well with wine. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable about his selection. Stop in and try something new! read more

Generous pours, amazing selection! You know, furniture shopping can wear you out. After many couch-sits at RC, my mom and I decided we needed to treat ourselves. We decided to do a flight and a cheese plate. For the flights, you get to choose four off of a pretty nice list. All four I tried were good but the Wild Thing Zin was so amazing that a bottle came home with me. I also found a nice barley wine beer for my husband for Christmas (ummm.... Hope he doesn't read this review in the meantime!) The cheese plate was well worth the $8 they charge. Like... $8 isn't actually enough. It's got three kinds of cheese, two kinds of crackers, salami, smoked almonds, chocolate covered raisins, sweet potato chips, and beet chips. I mean REALLY. So nice! They've got a TON of wine for sale, as well as accessories. Clothes, home decor, aerators, etc. They even have a huge selection of cool beer for your friend who doesn't like wine. AND on top of all that, there were other people at the bar and we got to have a great chat. How fun! This place is awesome, you guys. I only have the best things to say about Vino 100! I joined the wine club three months ago and have been so happy. The wine choices have been fantastic and the value ALWAYS surpasses the $35 a month. When I come to pick up my two bottles of wine every month, they include a glass of wine. It's such a friendly and lovely environment. I come with a girlfriend and we sit and enjoy a wine flight and a cheese plate. The music and ambiance always makes for such a fun girls night out. I came in to buy a quick bottle of Pinot Noir. I just travelled 14 hours on a trip and had my dog in the car. Cashier first started name dropping the winery owner. Who cares? Then insisted that I give my name. I said I'm not part of your club. She hassled me and said she'd just have to put her own name in. Why do I have to give my name to buy a wine? I don't give out my personal info Willy Nilly and she was so put off by it. This place sucks. Back to Ben's Wine & Spirits where you can buy without being hassled for personal info. So long Vino 100. This is our local hangout and we enjoy the company of the owners, Karen and Gary. They have a good wine selection (100 wines under $25, hence the name), a cocktail menu and a small food menu. If you are looking for more substantial food, you can order and have it delivered there. They also have the best wine club. For $35 (plus tax) per month, you receive 2 bottles of wine and when you pick up your wine, you receive a free glass of wine or a cocktail. It's a fantastic deal! They also have free wine tastings which generally land on Wednesdays and other events. Either like their FB page or get on their email list for upcoming events. We have met so many fun people here and love all who work at Vino as well! Even my kids love Vino. In the summer we will sit outside and I'll have a glass of wine and they will have a root beer and cheese platter. Note: I don't think it's a kid friendly place after 5. It still is a bar atmosphere. Vino 100 is an asset to the area. Great selection, and great service, and I hope to patronize this business again and again. However, the proprietor is anti-mask, and told us she thinks at-risk people should just stay home. I guess she doesn't care that our group was all in the group she reviles. Karen was recently fined by OSHA for non-compliance with the law, and the employees still do not wear masks inside the store. I always enjoy coming to this little wine bar in south Reno. It's tucked away in a little strip mall, so you might have a bit of trouble finding it, but it's worth the effort. Vino 100's unique selling proposition (for you marketers out there) is that they have on offer at least 100 super wines for $25 or less. It's a proposition that I find appealing, being someone who likes good value and doesn't feel the need to impress my friends with a hugely expensive bottle just because. In addition to the wines under $25, they have quite a few good ones around the $10 a bottle price point. In any case, you'll have no trouble finding what you want at whatever price you want to spend; they have it all, from bargain bottles to pricier pinots. They also have weekly specials, so it's worth it to pop in and see what is going on. It's a nice place to taste as well, and they have weekly tastings of various flights for around $15 to $25, depending on the wines offered. Every day from 4 to 6pm they have $5 wine for Happy Hour, and offer a cheese and charcuterie platter to accompany the wine for the bargain price of $10 for a generous plate that two can share. Where else can you find happy hour drinks and snacks for $10 a person? Bottom line: A fun place to try a wine flight and buy a well-priced bottle to take home. One of Reno's hidden gems. read more

Visited this wonderful wine store after a long time of bring away. Needed two bottles of wine, one to go with lamb and one to go with chicken. The gentleman there was very helpful. To my surprise I only needed one wine! A Pinot Noir! He helped me find a good one at my price range. He told me this one ($19.99) was better than any $40 wine. This store has a lot to offer. I`ve been here a couple times since it is literally right across the street from where I live. Don`t try to find out where I live because that is just creepy. Anyways, this place is close and I like places that are close that I can drink at. Makes sense, right? As far as wine selection, they have quite a few very nice wines and within a decent price range. I didn`t really browse their wine the first time there, truth be told. I came back here the second time with my mother in law and sister in law about 8 months ago and it was a different experience but still a fun one. This time it was a Saturday night and it was EMPTY, DEAD, where the hell are the people at? So we ordered some Martinis from the guy manning the counter and he took FOREVER. Like literally FOREVER. He was the nicest guy ever, but seriously. He would disappear to the back for 10-15 minutes a a time making the drinks and getting the appetizers ready for us(cheese plate and artichoke dip w/crackers. Both yummy). The cocktails were MEH this time around and I`m pretty sure he didn`t have a clue what he was doing. Nevertheless we are gracious and once the booze hit we didn`t really care. We decided we would do a wine flight between the three of us to get a little taste of the up to date recommendations. This was a good idea except the guy brought us all a taste of the wine TWICE and then said he forgot we only wanted ONE wine flight between us all. Not a huge deal. I like more booze than I`m paying for but it was just a silly, silly evening. I hope this was a temporary thing because I`ve been scared to go back. Not scared. Scared is dramatic, but you know what I mean. Anyways, I ended up with a few bottles of wine as a nice hostess gift from my sister in law. They usually have three or four bottles open everyday to taste complimentary. In addition, they have a fun special event called "Wining Women" It is the third Wednesday of every month. It is $15.00 and they have the tasting, hors d'ouevres and fun drawings. Check the calendar on their website to be sure. The staff is incredibly friendly (Cathy the owner and Grant to name a couple). They keep track of your purchases and send you a free certificate at the end of the year for a bottle. Ive always enjoyed happy hours at vino 100. They have a unique range of finer wines, an enthusiastic crowd and sometimes even live music! But now it's christmas and my son in law wanted a bottle of sazerac rye whiskey (Not a common choice). I tried every liquor store in town even called truckee. No one carried it but more importantly, no one offered any referrals or to see if it could be found elsewhere. Karen at vino 100 could not have been more helpful. She called her supplier and found it in vegas. I was saved and i truly appreciated the level of customer service that she showed especially during such a stressful time of the year. Saw on Facebook to that Vino100 was hosting a free wine tasting. Since it is in the neighborhood we decided to check it out. What a hidden gem. Once a month they host this with the hopes you will join their wine club. You get to sample various wines with the hostess giving a detailed explanation of where they originate and interesting details about the wine growers as well. They have a selection of appetizers to go along with your wine for purchase, as well as glasses of wine if you want a bigger taste. It is not a big place but cozy and the walls are lined with bottles to purchase as well as an assortment of gift products. I think this is the perfect place to go if you want a glass or two with friends. You really need to check out the wine club as it is an awesome deal. You join for $35.00 a month and with this you get 2 free bottles of wine to take home as well as a sampling of wines. There is a dollar limit to how expensive a wine you can pick but they are very generous with that. You go home with more than you pay for the membership. You need to check it out. read more

Watch your check. Two different orders at our table both overcharged. My check by one martini how do you screw up a one drink order? The other check was overcharged by 2 drinks or more but the guest already paid and left. When brought to their attention the owner tried to change the subject and got away with a $20 plus profit on the larger bill. Didn't offer to adjust that one. My fiancé and I won a wine tasting for four and were excited to try out a new place. We were disappointed when we realized we had missed the expiration date of the coupon and called to see if it would still be honored. When we called to ask a very disgruntled employee answered the phone to say, " I only get paid $15 an hour to work 80 hours a week and can't make that type of decision."
