We love Vinson's! This is the place we always bring out-of-town guests to for a local meal. The buffalo cauliflower and the pretzel sticks are delicious--we usually fill up on those and beer alone, then get our entire entrees to go. Service is pretty laid back, and at busy times it may take a little bit to flag down your server, but we are never in a rush so it's not a bother. We're especially partial because we came here with our families the night before our wedding (8 people total). It was a Friday evening and super busy, and we forgot to make a reservation in time. Totally our fault, so we weren't surprised about the hour wait time that they estimated and were fine with waiting. But they were able to quickly turn some tables and do some shuffling and got us seated in 15 minutes! We hadn't asked for or expected that kindness, and it didn't go unappreciated. read more

I was very happy with the food received. The trash can nachos were a meal in themselves. Loaded with beer cheese, pulled pork, bbq sauce, and jalapeños, it was delicious! Thr seasoned chips were delicious on their own! I ordered the western burger and it was cooked perfectly to temp. The toppings well balanced, everything tasted amazing. Boyfriend loved his wings and the salad. He said everything ghe ordered tasted great. Standard bar/pub food that is packed with flavor! My only nitpick was the social distancing. Not the best social distancing I've seen in a restaurant. We were sat back to back at a booth with another couple. Then later they sat another couple at a hightop table next to us that definitely was a little too close. So if you're serious about social distancing you might want to order take out (their food is definitely worth it) or eat outside (I saw space heaters outside, so even if it's cold I believe you can still sit cozily outside). We visited here for the first time on Fathers Day and there was no wait, our server was awesome and all of our food was amazing! The black and blue burger was extravagant! Horrible experience. Went with family of 5 both burgers were overcooked ordered medium and burgers came out well done. Asked to be recooked came out as hockey puck the second time. Cheese was not melted either time but on other burger it was. Manager sat on a stool by the door the entire experience he never came by the table or went into the kitchen to check on recook. Even after asking the burger to be removed from the bill manager still never made an appearance had to ask if he was the manager in the way out the door. Even saw a cook with an apron on just walking through the dining room. Manager had on a plaid tan shirt but blended in with guest as he just sat around. There were 3 other tables besides my family and bar guests. For it to not be busy but have overcooked food is unacceptable esp with absent management. read more

At true Gem! Laura was one of the best servers we've had the pleasure of meeting. She had insight to the needs of her customers and offered great suggestions! Very impressed. The crab cakes, fish and chips were delish! Vinson's is definitely a do over and highly recommend! Good thing we live an hour away or we'd be there almost every night. Let me start off by saying that the food is good and the wait staff is polite but the bartender/manager with the baggy pants and the glasses- we can see your eye rolls, people are not blind or stupid. I would love to give this place a better rating because it is accommodating but forget about asking for a request without getting an eye role from what feels like Vinson himself. If this business really cared to promote and inviting space that makes you want to come back please get rid of Mr. I am too good for specific request in the restaurant business. For more context: I have a service dog: when I went in to ask the wait staff for a table outside he was immediately interested and upon hearing my question he rolled his eyes as if I was bothering him or his outdoor seating. Buddy: we can eat somewhere else without watching your nasty attitude. I don't know why you choose a profession of service when such service bothers you. Besides the fact my service dog was small, you have outdoor seating! My request felt so small and if I wasn't starving I would've left immediately. Vinson: get yourself a better whatever that guy is. You can find another hipster flannel wearing glasses and baggy pants dude somewhere else around here. First time trying out this place as we were looking for a local "go to" place. Parking lot was full, parked across the street, no worries. Walked in to a full restaurant but only one other party was waiting before us. Hostess told us she'd put our name on the list and the wait would be "about 5 minutes". I pretty much knew that wouldn't be the case. Shortly after we arrived , several more parties arrived and were told "35 minutes", some left upon hearing that. It ended up being closer to 45 mins before we finally were seated. They did take my phone #, but it was never used. We watched several parties leave, tables bussed, cleaned, but we continued to wait. There were several hostesses working, but it seemed very disorganized and it wasn't apparent anyone was truly "in charge" of seating the patrons. Upon being seated we were waited on by Gracie. She was very attentive and apologetic for the wait(not her fault). As luck would have it several tables opened up all at once, so several parties after us were seated much quicker than we were. Our food did arrive fairly quickly, was hot, fresh, and very tasty. It would be a four star review if the hostess/seating situation were a bit more organized. We don't mind waiting, and we understand the times quoted are a "guess", but don't say 5 mins when it clearly will be longer. And if you ask for a guests phone #(to let them know their table is ready I assume), then acknowledge it immediately. May try another time as we're local, when they aren't so busy. read more

I am a local and have been to Vinson's three times. Each time I have been given good service and the food has been good. The first time I was there I had a cherry cider and they have been out of it the last two times. I've had food on each visit. The first time I had the chicken sandwich. The chicken was moist, but because I like my hot food really hot, it was not at the optimal temperature for me. So for the food on that day, I would have to say it was a 3. The next visit I had the Cobb Salad, it was quite yummy. The third time I was there , it was wings, (parm and garlic), they were actually really good. I ordered all drumettes and my friend ordered all flats. She likes her wings crispy and they gladly took them back to brown more. We also shared some parm fries and they were okay but not great! The building is new and if they can work out the kinks, they will have a great future in Clayton. I whole-heartedly support local business. If they succeed we win because we have another quality place to frequent. The faux pas in the beginning go along with small business. They have not had the luxury of a chaIn that would bring in their top people from another location to get the new location off the ground. Each time I've been there I've had the owner stop in and ask how I like it. I guess I would suggest that for at least the first couple of months that if you aren't happy about something provide the feedback to the owners and not give the negative review here. Once they've been given ample time to get up and going then any review is fair game. Very happy to see them in Clayton! This is our second time eating here. We like the atmosphere, the staff are very friendly, and the food is excellent. The menu has several great options, and the burgers are thick and juicy. We knew after our first visit that we wanted to come back to try something new. They definitely didn't disappoint. My husband tried two of their boozy boba tea cocktails...they were both delicious. Update 3/28/2020: all restaurants are only serving takeout (if able) due to global COVID10 pandemic. Vinson's did not disappoint - we called at 5:30 and food was ready by 5:45! Chicken wings were awesome. The XXX sauce wasn't as hot as advertised, but great as a palatable hot sauce. I also ordered the 'HOT' wings, but these were more like mild. Philly cheese steak was very good and well. They did forget the Cilantro Lime dressing on the Salmon salad - we'll have to try that next time I guess. So we normally rave about Vinsons, but this time I left feeling unimpressed. First complaint is that they advertise a $4 pint for Saturday. When my husband ordered the pint, the server said it was out. Next we asked what the replacement was for the Saturday pint, server checks with someone, and the answer is none. I let her know its posted right in front of the entrance, she shrugs it off. So now its false advertisement, whatever. We ordered the trash can nachos, a burger, chicken sandwich and 2 kids meals. $55 later and I felt like it was just mediocre. Oh and no attempt to erase the false advertised beer off the sign. We have been several Sundays for lunch. Always greeted with a smile, seated quickly, and served delicious food and good drinks fast. They have an incredible make your own Bloody Mary bar on Sunday's. On Mother's Day, they give all mom's beautiful, long stem roses. On Derby Day, the entire staff was sporting some festive and fun hat and the whole place felt festive. It's great for kids! Food is on par, the trashcan nachos and brownie sundae are the perfect pairing for two. It is a good spot for a date night and to get fairly priced food. The service is very hit or miss (I believe they may be understaffed). All staff are kind and the food is still very good. The atmosphere is comfortable. Ok, here is the scoop. First, everyone knows I support "local and independent" locations, I want them to excel and be successful so I wish the same here. Vinson's is brand new, there are kinks to work out but they need to work them out soon. Location: Perfect! Your on Main Street and at the beginning point off 70 heading to Downtown. If you know the area you will also know that the investors place much coin in remodeling basically what was an abandoned building and providing a great looking joint Service: Here is a passing grade also, my wife and I came at an off hour and were promptly greeted and seated. Our server, though needs to be more familiar with food allergies was great. Smiling, helpful, and good. Food: Here is where the downfall begins. Have you ever heard of a hole in the wall? You know an old dump that looks like crap but has lines out the door and well known for a hundred miles? It's because no matter location and appearance if your food misses, you miss. Candidly my cheese steak looked less than impressive, Maybe 4 small strips of chicken on a hot dog roll with half a slice of melted cheese complete with mildly warm fries. My wife had a cheeseburger on Gluten Free bread, hold on they were out of gluten free bread so on lettuce. The burger looked to be pre cooked and warmed though the middle was cold with a piece of non melted cheese on top. Will say the house made chips were spot on. Long story short, I'm rooting for Vinson's I want them to win. It appears they have 2 out of 3 right, but the miss is the most important, the food. I'm only stating this because as a local with some very good establishments on the same road less than 1/2 mile away, well maybe take a piece from their playbook. My wife and I went on opening day and were at the door when they opened. Considering that it was opening night and they were slammed non-stop, they did a good job. Basically, form the moment they opened the door and a huge herd of people entered the restaurant, they were in the weeds. The good news is that the food was good. My wife had the cobb salad and loved it. I had the triple cheese burger. The burger was under cooked (I know, I know...but I like no pink.) They were very gracious about it and cooked a new one for me. I enjoyed the onion rings, they were crispy and flavorful. Yes, the staff struggled with refills, and other minor issues. But I don't think it was for lack of trying. I am sure they will work out the kinks pretty quickly. I know I'll be back! I don't know what people expect on opening night from a brand new non-chain restaurant, but the poor 1 start reviews are way too harsh in my opinion. I've been to Vincents a few times, the food has been good. Every time, the service sometimes lacks the service that you would expect at a sit down restaurant. As far as the ambience, it seems to be a little too open and noisy. The food will not disappoint, give it a try downtown Clayton. read more
