Decent food as well as service. Clean. Prices are average for what is offered. Would visit again.

    Corn meal catfish

I had no idea that this was now Moon Runners. I decided I just had to try the catfish because it said it was a corn meal breading. I miss eating the cat fish @ Macs in Fayetteville. Unfortunately it is not what I was hoping for. The fries and slaw were good. My kids enjoyed their kids meals. The Alfredo sauce was great! My husband got a burger not sure which but he loved it! We will be back again soon! Our server was wonderful, I forgot his name or else I'd have given him a shout out!

My boyfriend and I had dinner here tonight and I was very impressed! We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated immediately. Our server was Emily and she was awesome. I had a flight of 4 moonshines and they were all really good. My favorite was the pineapple upside down cake. We started with a side of hush puppies as an appetizer. I ordered the catfish with fries and slaw and he ordered the Philly cheesesteak with fries. This was the first time I've ever had catfish and it was really good! It was very light and delicious. I loved the slaw and tartar sauce too. My boyfriend also loved his meal. I'm looking forward to returning.

Service was excellent. She answered all our questions. The space was lovely with patio seating! Everything was new and clean. Good menu choices and quality of the food was excellent (fresh and enough to eat). One small error in billing was quickly corrected. However, the food lacked seasoning! So it came across as bland.

Overcooked and dry Philly cheesesteak with burnt bread along with overcooked hushpuppies

We got takeout tonight, do not order the apple moonshine fries, they are too mushy an inedible. Philly cheesesteak is dry and bread is hard and burnt. Hushpuppies are extremely hard and burnt. Do better

    Garlic Steak Melt

The I-40/42 area is in need of new dining choices which makes the new Moon Runners a welcome addition. We both tried the Garlic Rubbed Steak Melt, so this review will be a bit monochromatic. This sandwich is not a play on a Philly Cheese Steak; instead it's a steak-tips sandwich. My sandwich didn't have any hint of garlic to it, so I guess whoever is back in the kitchen rubbing the sirloin with garlic cloves needs to up their game. The amount of meat on the sandwich was adequate but could have benefited from a bit more generous serving. Same goes for mostly-melted cheese. The sandwich was served warm, not hot, and definitely gave the impression that it had been assembled from pre-cooked ingredients. It was very forgettable and ranks a definite "OK". The baked potato side was fine. The interior was remodeled when opening Moon Runners from the carcass of Simple Twist; it definitely shows and it helps the restaurant feel relevant. Our server was trying but there were enough miscues, like taking our partially-full glasses while we were literally still holding them, that a bit of training would help. All in all, it is nice to have a new restaurant in the area. The overall experience is definitely just an OK and its overall value isn't especially high, but it has the magical property of being nearby, which counts for a lot. Based on the number of cars in the parking lot, there are plenty of others in this area that appreciate another mid-priced dining choice.

Crispy chicken sandwiches w/bacon and cheddar w/house made chips and onion rings plus nachos w/chicken.

Fantastic late lunch early dinner today. Amazing nachos w/chicken and 2 crispy chicken sandwiches w/bacon and cheddar. House made chips and onions rings were both great. I would definitely recommend this place. Service was great and friendly folks. Loved the new ambiance of the decor from previous establishment.

Visited moon runners during their soft opening limited menu. They will have full menu in September ( pics are of full menu). They have a wide variety of moonshines and beers on tap. My wife had the Reuben and it was excellent as were the fries . My chicken sandwich was okay. My onion straws were cold but they immediately brought out hot ones. Service was great. Look forward to trying full menu in the future.

Shrimp and grits with pork belly

Love this spot for dinner! Their burgers are great and I loved their shrimp and grits with pork belly. My husband gets the brisket sandwich. The staff is super friendly too.

With little signage the space feels like a natural speakeasy. It's unpolished enough to feel a little sleazy, yet polished enough to never feel dirty. Whether you're a serious whiskey enthusiast or just looking for a well-made cocktail, you're in good hands. Being open later than most Raleigh bars makes Foundation one of the city's go-to late-night options, but that shouldn't overshadow what it really is........a great bar at any hour. I had their basil smash, which was refreshing, and the Manhattan--bold with a warm, spicy profile. Service started off a little hands-off since we ordered at the bar, but picked up toward the end when staff came by to check in. Drinks were high quality without being overpriced, and the vibe is relaxed--not at all pretentious. You can definitely come casual. If we had more time, we would've stayed longer or come back for another round.

Classy but chill, the kind of place that feels welcoming whether you're on a solo drink mission or meeting up with friends. The space isn't loud or chaotic, which made it perfect for a relaxed drink and conversation. It felt like a local hidden gem rather than a tourist trap, and that's always a plus when you're exploring a new city. The service was great from start to finish. The bartenders were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do! They gave recommendations, and took the time to chat and help them pick something perfect. Of course, I had to go with the espresso martini, because if a spot has it on the menu, I'm trying it. And wow, this one was good. Smooth, balanced, and truly the kind of cocktail that makes you forget you're basically drinking dessert. Not too sweet, with that rich coffee flavor front and center. Easily one of the better espresso martinis I've had in a while. Even though it was a quiet afternoon, the energy didn't feel slow or empty, just comfortable. It was obvious this place would be equally great on a livelier night, too. This is definitely a great cocktail bar that's worth a stop if you're in Raleigh. It felt $2 overpriced in both instances. I don't know if I'd get again, but the fries were seasoned well. My fiancé ordered the braised pork shoulder. The meat was tender and had a decent flavor. The mac and cheese was okay, nothing special. Overall, the dish was drowned in too much barbecue sauce to the point he felt he was eating more sauce than the entree.
