We have been coming to First Street Tavern about once a month during good weather to enjoy a flatbread, a draft, and the live music. Last night we had my husband's 75th birthday celebration there. The food was wonderful, the service great, and the ambiance was wonderful. It is definitely one of my favorite local places. such a fun and inviting environment. it gives backyard vibes. they have live music almost all the time and the beer/food selection is great. they have nonalcoholic beer which was nice too since i don't drink. there's only one bar so ordering can take a minute but staff were super friendly. they did warn us that the kitchen is backed up and food could take an hour, which we didn't have an issue with. the margarita flatbread was great and the mac and cheese was just okay. it tasted like if the cheese was from the cheese dip you use for pretzels. overall, great time and vibes and would come back again in the future. read more

There are a lot of locals who love this place, and I can see the appeal--live music, an outdoor area, and a historic home give it a nice atmosphere. That said, I found the food and service to be mediocre. It wasn't a memorable experience overall, and I don't plan to return. read more

Great vibe pulling up to this place. Live music great curb appeal. Then you experience the fact it is a heavy local customer. So the fact its a order at the bar and sit anywhere kinda place isn't communicated openly. Then after you figure it out . You order flat bread pizza and basically 3 canned drinks and you get a bill of 50 bucks. Wow not sure how that add an up to 50 bucks.... Because the bill doesn't let you what each item costs..... new to the area Wont be back and will go out of my way to not recommend. Ok the service is walk to the bar order, and get drinks. They bring your food to the table. It's kind of self serve but a cool vibe. The building is super old and the seating is definitely not ordinary - couches, high tops and assorted groupings. You can even do outside in the garden. Seems to have live music on the weekend evenings, and TVs with music otherwise. Drinks were good, tons of beer option, and unique bar food ( dips, nachos, etc) We had a super flatbread (the Man Meat) Tasty! Drink each and split a flatbread, $42 with tip. So happy I gave this place another chance. My husband and I came here when we first moved to Clayton and the food left so much to be desired. We went back tonight and I don't know what yall have done but it's infinitely better. Everything about this place blew our minds. We split the beer cheese appetizer. I got the brisket tacos and my husband got the dirty bird burrito again. I think his complaint was that there wasn't more burrito, but that was more because he wanted to have enough to take home and have it again for lunch tomorrow. He couldn't stop going about how great it was. My brisket tacos were top tier. I loved the combination of flavours. The beer cheese and pretzels were delicious. For drinks I got the Black Cherry Cider and he got a Jack Daniels whisky sour. I later switched to the pineapple/mango cider, but honestly the Black Cherry was OP. I could swim in a pool of it and drown drunk and happy. Service was amazing. Every single person we interacted with was friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be there which made us feel happy to be there too. The two bartenders were quickly able to work through the line at the bar while still making each customer feel like a rapport was established and they could take their time. We sat outside so we could hear the band. The music was on point with a cover band that had their own spin on some great 90s and early 00s classics. There were all kinds of people hanging out there from young couples close to our age, elderly folk with their families, we saw some super cool bikers come through. It was just an awesome time all around. I take back every bad thing I said in my original review. Not only does this tavern have some of most comfortable outdoor seating arrangements and vast selection of drinks around, they have some extremely impressive people working behind the bar. I have learned the difficulty of finding a bar that can consistently make a great old fashioned or even have all of the ingredients to make a mediocre one. After ordering one here and watching the bartender make it, I was literally blown away by the attention to detail he took to make this drink, this man has skills! Its an interactive environment that has an energy of its own and although its a busy place, there is always plenty of comfortable seating and not deafening to the ears when you want to hold a conversation. Spent St Patrick's Day here. Love the house and the decor. Rooms with chairs and couches for relaxed conversation. Outdoor tables, chairs and fire tables very cozy and relaxing. Food is delicious! Walking up to this place was a fun surprise. It's a big Victorian style house and very welcoming. The interior was a little frat-ish. The rooms weren't lit very well and the bar in the corner looked makeshift. To say this place was casual is an understatement. What a place! We came tonight and had a few beverages. I've been here on multiple occasions and I must say, it's a fantastic place! They have a large beer/drink selection. The wraps/flatbreads are delicious and the dips are a perfect appetizer. They have trivia on wednesdays and bands on weekends. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, partly because its an old house renovated with beautiful natural wood and ornate detail. FST is more a brew place than a grapes place. Could have been better. Service is... interesting. One fellow is pretty polite and prompt, there's a lady there who appears too good for there or anywhere. Seems to be practicing her catwalk pout and can be a little pokey on brew delivery. I actually don't mind because her demeanor adds to the character of the place - seriously - some servers can be a little energetic anyway. Nothing horrible, just amusing. Food... oh-kay, not bad. No raving about it, this is a pub-house with food, not a restaurant with beer. Food could do a bit better, but understand food is not the prime directive here. Super cute historic house to grab a drink at in Clayton!! Draft beer, cans or bottles, liquor or wine, they have it all. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this spot for food. If you are looking for munchies while drinking then you will probably enjoy. I was able to try the Trio of Dips, Pear Gorgonzola Flatbread and Southern BBQ Chicken Flatbread. The dips were good but were a tad greasy and I was not impressed with either flatbread. A few things I want to mention: 1) walk in and order at the bar then grab a seat inside or outside, 2) they sell wine by the bottle but it is way overpriced, buy it from the grocery store instead and 3) check out the boutique. Great venue with tons of potential however the bartender was less than welcoming. Barely acknowledged us walking in (there was only one other couple there) and when we brought back the trash she was sitting on the bar and didn't even respond to our "thank you"-- Customer service was severely lacking. First Street's atmosphere is so relaxing. Its known for its wraps, which are very good. However, it depends who is cooking that night as to whether you get and excellent wrap or a just so-so wrap. They have a very nice selection of beer and they treat you like family. I love this place! read more

I would give this place a zero if I could. The service is terrible. The young bartender with brown hair that worked on a Sunday night 6/5/22 had a complete attitude when I asked her for a drink menu. She said "it's on the wall." She could not handle her bar and her customers. They were absolutely hammered and rude to me. One calling me a "cunt" when I am walking out the door. The bar was trashed behind her and I am Pretty sure she was drunk. Being new to the town this was a terrible first impression. If you want good service, don't come here. read more

Great place to grab a brew and wind down. Four rooms downstairs make up the tavern. One is dedicated as a bar, one has over stuffed couches for being lazy and 2 have tables for eating. While the menu isn't extensive the two flat breads we had were incredible... the tap selection could be better but they make up for it with the bottle selection. Great outdoor and indoor space, bartenders are amazing especially Sadie. She has an awesome personality hubby and I really like her. This is a really nice place to get some Wine, Beer, or a Mixed Drink while visiting Clayton. We loved our Flatbread Pizzas, they were just the right size for a light meal. There are a lot of cozy places to sit inside the house and outside as well. We only went once but we're looking forward to going back again soon! read more

A really nice addition to downtown Clayton. My friend and I each enjoyed the bbq chicken bacon wrap with a bag of chips for a very reasonable price. She got a glass of wine and I looked over the lengthy beer list, which included about 6 drafts and maybe 30 bottles (many local options and great, seasonal craft selection). The "dining room" with 4 tables is a little echoey, so don't plan to have a very private conversation, but the layout is unique. read more
