Vintage was nothing short of amazing! I am not from Madison, but my close friend who lives here always talks about it and how it is a Madison classic. We sat in the bubble outside and it came with a heater in it which definitely was needed. The pear and berry mule was my first drink and it tasted mostly like ginger bear, not berries or pear, but I am not complaining. The pomegranate margarita was amazing though, not too strong but you could definitely taste the tequila! Pomegranate taste was prevalent. The real star of the show was the food. I got the Tuscan sandwich which comes with grilled chicken on it. All the toppings were so needed. I LOVED the caramlized onions on it and the red peppers. It was not boring in any sense, and I loved how the brioche bun was crispy. The fries on the side were perfect. Crispy on the outside and the inside part of the potato did not overpower the crispiness. With wedge fries that tends to happen, but Vintage has the method down. Lastly, our serve was amazing. He was visiting home for Spain and it was his first day back and he was on his A - Game. He checked in on us at least 6 times in those 2 hours and was very considerate. We needed dinner before a Badger basketball game at the nearby Kohl Center. Despite being down here very early our first choice for dinner was packed so we walked around the corner and stepped into the Vintage. We had seen this place for years but never had bothered to check it out. We got their last open table and settled in. Damian our waiter was super friendly and really hustled given the crowd that was filtering in. We tried one of their Titos special drink the Electric Lemonade for $5 and an Old Fashion - both were good. We then ordered their Bucky burger that was nicely done medium rare and their sloppy joe BBQ sandwich (basically pulled pork). We liked them both as well as their battered waffle fries. This place has a really cool vibe! I stopped in here with some friends before a night out and we tried the nachos and they were really good! For $12 ($10 without chicken) they give you a very generous amount and they don't skimp on the toppings! The queso had a bit of a kick to it too which I really loved. I understand places can't control the flow of people eating their meals however, using a text based seating system doesn't work if people can seat themselves and there is no control at the door. There was no shareable little plates when the appetizers arrived. I had to ask for it. Then when the burger came,, the server was non existent. I've seen her pass by twice,, seemed like she was ignoring us. So I just took it upon myself to walk to the just recently vacated table to grab their condiments for my burger. I've been here twice before on Friday/Saturday nights and have had good experiences. However, coming on this Sunday evening was nowhere near as good. The mixed drinks were not good at all, and my partner and I each ordered burgers, both of which tasted off somehow. No one asked us if we were satisfied with our food and it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. The ambiance is always good though. It's hip. The music is fairly loud, but good. Just stick to beers instead of mixed drinks. read more

We have been staying downtown and now visited the last Vintage of the three in town. This one serves the college crowd and the food menu reflects that. We wanted the spinach salad but they were out of spinach. We settled for the nachos, which were awesome but not the healthy route that we originally wanted, we also ordered the chicken tenders with fries. Kitchen is limited that is maybe why... Nice spot for brunch. Great patio with outdoor seating. Like the build your own bloody bar and at $5 that's pretty cheap for a bloody anywhere, much less BYO. Mine didn't taste good, but probably my own fault. I ordered the huevos rancheros and thought it was the perfect meal for the start of Saturday after late night drinking Friday. My wife had the spinach crepes and I must say they looked so un-appetizing and had the consistency of raw dough. The inside was excellent however. All in all I enjoyed the place, nice drink menu, good beer selections and they make their own too :). Give it a shot. The ranch dressing is great, and the curds are top notch. Chilli was a little different but good nonetheless. The best looking sandwich was the pulled pork which tasted delicious. Beer menu isn't huge but there are plenty of options. Prices are about what you'd expect, but cheaper than downtown. One thing we didn't love was the fact that there were no TVs showing sports on a Friday night. The environment is fine, just don't take this place for a sports bar. Alex, our server was good. Had the black & bleu burger and coleslaw. Burger was yummy, but coleslaw was served like a salad. Shredded cabbage with dressing on top. Daughter #1 ordered the bbq mac & cheese was slightly spicy. We all tasted it, and thought it was super delicious. She couldn't eat it all though... leftover It was a greasy, and the pork was a bit mushy. Next time we split it. It's so good fresh. Yum! Daughter #2 had the classic grilled cheese & onion rings. She ate the onion rings and didn't like the grilled cheese sandwich. She said it was too hard. Spouse reheated it the next day, and said the bread was too thick. The "storefront" for Vintage Brewing is a retro hole-in-the-wall that's not really a hole in the wall. The decor is expectedly vintage with some cool touches. In fact even the high chair they dug out for our friends' one-year-old was circa 1972. We came for breakfast but since it was almost Noon we figured a beer flight made sense as well. The food menu, for breakfast anyway, is pretty limited. This is not a gastropub. We looked through very standard items like pancakes, omelets, breakfast burritos, etc. I chose the breakfast burrito with bacon. It turned out to be fine but not a lot better than the breakfast burrito I used to get from the crappy little cafeteria in my building. The beer was fairly average. I leaned toward the coffee stout which, while good, was a fairly weak "best of the flight" selection. Their beers generally need more flavor and uniqueness. Good for a night of drinking but not so good for craft beer drinkers. Ultimately, Vintage is a decent place but I can't say you should rush over there. read more

I'm not sure why this place wasn't listed on any of the travel information sheets for Madison, WI. I was in town for a work trip and had intended on going to a different establishment, but their wait was almost an hour long. So, my friend an I decided to walk down the street to see what else was available. When we turned the corner, we first saw the patio. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and the food smelled wonderful. So, we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. The food was outstanding. We also learned that they brew their own beers, which were also outstanding. We sat at the bar and Bobby, the bartender took really good care of us. He was very friendly, knowledgeable of their food and beer offerings, and just a great server in general. The manager, Kelly, was also working behind the bar that night. He was super nice and gave us the history of not only that location, but the company, and it's various brews. I'm going to make sure that I recommend this place to all of my colleagues, as we have representatives visiting the Madison/Verona area regularly. There is a outdoor patio that is heated and lit up with lights at night with music playing. Waiters are usually quick and fast. Indoor decor is vintage style and include booths and free standing tables. There are pinball tables and two dart boards. Drinks are usually pretty cheap and the vintage brews are pretty good. Meh. Came to this place for brunch because we knew the wait wouldn't be horrendous like a lot of downtown spots on Sundays. Wasn't impressed with the spinach, pepper, blue cheese scrambler I ordered. Mostly because I bit into some nondescript, hard bottom of the grill pebble and felt like I was going to chip my tooth. The waitress was super receptive and ended up giving me half off my dish. For brunch, this just isn't the place to be. It's a bar, and in the summer it's awesome to sit out on the patio, enjoy a brew, and people watch. There will be plenty of empty tables at noon on a Saturday and if you order correctly, you could have a tasty meal. The details: Bloody Mary Bar: for $5 you can build your own bloody! I wish they had a wider variety of garnishes and labeled the bloody mixes or let you sample before arbitrarily committing to one. But that price is tough to beat. Screwdriver Pint: also $5 and on the menu as being with fresh squeezed OJ. Sadly they didn't have any fresh squeezed the day I tried to order it. Breakfast burrito: kind of cold and the cheese wasn't melted. Relatively inexpensive though. Country fried steak: winner!!! Flavorful steak that went so well with the creamy gravy.
