Run don't walk!…read more Meena is seriously the BEST EVER. She has planned two events for us this year -- a large-scale party on Long Island and complex destination birthday party for 20 in Morocco. Meena blew us away. Her organization, attention to detail, artistic eye, command of vendors, ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, and pragmatism make her incredibly special. For our Memorial Day Long Island party, Meena had to contend with unexpected winter-like conditions. She nimbly found a way to bring the DJ and games indoors and rented industrial strength heaters, making our outdoor tent as toasty as a cabin, all the while crafting an aesthetically stunning dining experience. Morocco required organizing the travel and logistics for 20 guests coming from around the world. This was complicated by pandemic-related restrictions that included nightly curfews in Morocco. Meena flawlessly adapted our trip so that we spent two days in the desert and surprised us with dune buggies for the group, fire performers, snake charmers, and a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the beautiful desert landscape. Meanwhile, she remembered little details like traveling with my favorite drinks and hot sauces at all times. Everyone who attended gushed about Meena's planning and considered this a once in a lifetime trip. Beyond that, Meena and her husband Philip are lovely people and a pleasure to work with. My only regret is we didn't meet her sooner. If you have the opportunity to work with Meena, you must!

From steaming everyone's dress and tux after they got wrinkled, re-working and essentially re-creating my bouquet, arriving with 50 pashminas when the temperature dropped to decorating my cake (something I completely forgot about), tying bow-ties and figuring out how my dress worked when we couldn't get it on she saved the day at least 100 times. Meena is a wedding super-woman. I have no idea how she does it but I'm delighted she does.

For a wedding officiant or emcee, these are essential qualities you must look out for! This review is not for her emcee and officiant services. Unfortunately, I decided at the last minute to hire an emcee, and Jade was unavailable. I wanted to hire her for many reasons, but the main one being she knows Toisan (and probably Hoiping), in addition to Cantonese and English. My maternal grandparents speak a mixture of Toisan and Hoiping. I should also add that I live in Toronto, and she lives in New York; she tried her best to make it work despite having a conflict that day. Again, I need to highlight the type of person she is: she is one full of love and compassion. Jade is one of the reasons I hired a Chinese-speaking emcee for my wedding. This decision came from her YouTube videos, inspiring me to connect with my heritage and learn Cantonese in the first place. This decision made my wedding so special! My dad's sister's and my in-laws are immigrants from Hong Kong who know little, if any, English. This made the night of my wedding super special, as it ensured everyone felt included. Now, I want to review the tangible service she provided for me. On Wednesday afternoon, just a few days before my wedding, I decided to have parts of my welcome speech in Cantonese. I also wanted to have parts of my vows in Cantonese. To accomplish this, I needed someone who could understand the passion I wanted to put into my speech. I also needed someone who knew Jyutping, was fluent in English, and had the availability to help me practice before the wedding. Jade pulled it off! She was able to translate my very emotional speech into Jyutping quickly. Jade also spent almost 2 hours helping me understand the translations and coaching me on my pronunciation. She also recorded two audio recordings for me: one for my vows and another for my welcome speech. I should add - I only began my Cantonese learning journey two months ago after Jade inspired me! I took a beginner course offered by her school, in addition to having a private tutor. The fact that I could have parts of my speech in Cantonese directed to my aunts, grandparents and in-laws was quite impressive. And it is all because of Jade. Because of Jade's video, where she talked about her fear of losing her language and heritage, she changed me. It inspired me! It has helped me create a fantastic bond with my mother-in-law, grandparents, and now my aunties. Thank you, Jade, for inspiring me and making my wedding night super special.
