I got some credit that covered some super cute, super comfy high-waist pleated wool dress plants with pockets. The owner helped me style them with a white button down dress shirt tied at the waist. And I got some gold earrings and necklace to finish the look. I've worn the outfit to several professional meetings now, and it really makes me feel powerful and on point. I'm going to try and put into words the kindness, care, and love I felt from the moment who owns the shop and the family they had there on Monday when I went there to try on this dress in the image above. I went in trying to describe the dress to the owner and she realized the item and brought it in for me to see if it'd fit on Sunday and wasn't able to go. When I went in on Monday her daughter and two aunts were there and after trying the dress on I knew I had to get it home cause it fit like a dream. Now what transpired was one a most wonderful interaction between us all and all I can say is on a day and in a time where blessings are few, I was blessed that day by the kindness and care of strangers. While the clothing is unique (although most is on the small side being true vintage), beware that the owner may engage you in anti American pro Palestine one sided debate/lecture. Not being a rude person, I tried to be pleasant. I did buy a couple of pieces but once she began her tirade I wish I had returned them right then and there. I tried politely leaving but didn't wish to be rude. For my trouble I received a $72 parking ticket. I will never go back in there. Too bad because it seemed like a fun place. Good selection of high-end, well-made women's vintage, apparently specializing in evening wear. I've been here twice and found exactly what I was looking for both times. One of the things I appreciate about this store is they don't ignore larger sizes (by which atm I mean 14-16.) I bought among other things a killer floor length, armless black heavy satin gown here - very reasonably priced. Excellent accessories, especially if you're looking for the unusual bag or belt. Service may be a little touch and go; during my first visit I was given excellent care (and wound up spending more;) second visit I was largely ignored and bought only a bauble. Different clerks. Im a big vintage Levi's collector. This place always has a good selection. Other really cool vintage clothes. Some of its a little costumey but the right person will make it work! Every time I go in whoever is at the register is always super nice and seem genuinely happy that you just came in to shop. Love that and it makes you feel appreciated as a customer. Be warned, some of the collectible stuff like the Levi's will be a little pricey, but worth it. Especially since they are way more affordable than sellers on Depop eBay and poshmark. In general, just check them out for one of a kind cool clothes and accessories. If you love vintage you'll love this place. I think they have new stuff too, but I don't really focus on it. This is a beautiful vintage shop owned by two of the kindest women. I got to meet Maggie my first time in, and I purchased a lovely vintage wool blend blazer! My second time in, I met Yasmine and she helped my pick a few items that perfectly suited my taste: a 1980s rabbit fur bomber jacket and and I think a 1970s silk Oscar de la Renta blouse. This is not a costume store. For that, visit Cheap Thrills down the street or Evangelines in Old Sac. Sebastian, a polite gentleman who was the owner's son, navigated me through the store's offerings and offered assistance when necessary but allowed me to browse without being overbearing. 3.5 stars. Great spot if you are looking for something vintage-y. There is a mix of vintage and "vintage-looking" clothing for women here. Personally, I don't wear vintage much, but should I be in need of an 80's look or 70's look, then I would start here first! Prices seemed to be a bit higher than Crossroads. For instance, there was a green silk bomber jacket for $18. I'm wondering if you could find something similar at the Goodwill for a cheaper price... Also, just some customer service advice. While the previous reviewers got stellar service, I did not even get a greeting upon entering or leaving the store. It is nice to be acknowledged. Hmmm...don't think I'll be coming back. I find that I don't usually have as great of luck finding items I love in most vintage shop, but Vintage YSJ has so many great finds! YSJ Vintage is the best vintage store in Sacramento and one of the best vintage stores I've been to. Their prices are fair and a refreshing juxtaposition to many of the vintage retailers in big cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Austin who get off on charging $200 for a Depeche Mode shirt. I went to YSJ to find outfits matching very specific themes: "psychadelic tiki" and "viva Las Vegas." The woman working there was really sweet, and went downstairs to dig up a dozen outfits that matched my descriptions, which was above and beyond good customer service--And there was never any pressure to buy. YSJ has incredible inventory. Even though I went there with a specific occasions in mind, I fell in love with two darling mod 1960's shifts, and ended up leaving with two 1980's silk blouses (perfect for work), and a rad olive green and yellow silk kerchief to tie my hair, in addition to the perfect gold jacket and authentic made-in-Hawaii psychedelic tiki dress! I used to love coming to this store...I used to stop by anytime I had a moment before the late shift at work. The store itself is very cute and sometimes you will find some great clothes. However, the problem I have with this store is that the customer service, including the service from the owner. Note to those going to this store: NEVER LIKE SOMETHING ON THE MANNEQUIN. If it is in the window, they will not take it off of the mannequin for you to purchase. I had stopped at the store 3 times in the same day (the first 2 times they were closed and one of those times was during the time they should have been open). The last time, I asked the woman what size the dress was (it was my size) and the shoes were my size. So I asked her if she could please take the outfit off of the mannequin because I wanted to purchase it. She told me no and said they can call me at the end of the season when they change the clothing on the mannequins. Um, excuse me? First off, why would you want to wear a winter outfit during spring time? Second, in a world where there are a lot of choices for people choose from, wouldn't you want to go the extra mile to make sure every customer left satisfied? I will never shop here again and have when asked about it by friends, I always share my experience. In the end, I found the similar outfit on a mannequin at another vintage store, and THEY WERE MORE THAN HAPPY to assist me. read more

The store itself was beautiful, simply and elegant with local art flare. I also appreciate that there is a vintage clothing store DOWN , DOWN town... There is so much awesome potential that needs to be awakened , and YSJ is there to start it!! The pride in this shop is unmistakable! They find amazing vintage pieces in pristine condition and or restore them. Pieces from the 70's and 80's looks absolutely brand new. Stopped in at the end of a work conference (the shop was right across the street from my hotel) not expecting much. I ended up spending quite a while perusing their awesome inventory, purchasing more items than would fit in my suitcase, and going back across the street to Fed Ex to ship them home (totally worth it). The selection was awesome! My only gripe would be that the organization of the clothing wasn't exactly consistent from rack to rack. I prefer things to be sorted by size, but some of the racks were sorted by color. While that makes for a better visual, it makes me sad when I come across an awesome find, only to notice that it is two sizes too small :( read more

My review may be sort of biased because I was only in there for 20 minutes but I loved this place. It's very clean and organized. I was greeted at the door by a male associate and didn't talk to me again until I reached the register. I found an amazing selection of vintage high waisted shorts! Oh god, I moved here from the Bay Area/San Luis Obispo in search of a thrift/vintage store and they had so many shorts!!!! I love the short trend and I wish I tried them all but I was in a rush. Anyways, I came up with only one pair and the associate was really nice to me. He was talking to his significant other on the phone while I shopped but it didn't bother because I was in the ZONE! I've decided Sacramento vintage shopping is way more fruitful than shopping in the SF Haight/Ashbury district. I spent less than an hour in this store and picked out AT LEAST 10 things to try on - everything was so cute - ranging from true vintage from the 40's-80's to more modern pieces that still blend into a vintage wardrobe. The owner was super nice and helpful! I ended up walking away with TWO dresses, TWO tops and an awesome black members only jacket that looked like it had never been worn - all for $60. I couldn't believe it. The prices were so reasonable and I didn't see a single thing in the store that was over $20 (although I'm sure some of the bigger ticket items would be). I have been going here for years now. I love how frendly everyone who works there is. I also love the great styles they have. IT is a higher end vintage store but you get a great value for the price. I own over 10 dresses from there and all are amazing (most have pockets.) Maggie is great and has totally leanred my style, so sometimes when I come in she is takes me straight to a dress that looks and fits perfect. I have been wondering in this hidden jem for a couple years now. I am treated like a VIP every time I walk in the door! This is a wonderful mother /daughter establishment who carries a variety of clothing and accessories that are constantly replenished with new inventory. I have both bought & sold with great sucess! As a matter of fact, my handbag which I have carried since purchase, was an awesome find here, and because they carry a large variety of labels, I would have never discovered this label on my own.
