Had them shipped to Iowa, Great price & they shipped them in a mighty mailer for extra protection and they arrived in great condition within a reasonable timeframe.. However incurred a minor issue at no fault to the store, inner sleeves were missing, this was a known issue from the record producer on this particular release, worked with Jules at Vinyl Junkies and she worked diligently with their supplier to make things right, took a bit but she got it done and shipped them right away free of charge and in perfect condition.. This is a small and funky vinyl shop with a fair amount of used CDs. In fact, they have more used CDs here than just about anywhere else I have ever seen, other than at Amoeba in Los Angeles. They also have old cassette tapes, too, if you are a weirdo and a masochist. There are three rooms to explore and a little courtyard in between them all. I have to believe this space was a coffee house or something like that in a different life. The vinyl record collection is the emphasis, as it should be, and it is well-organized. There is some organization to some of the CDs but many of them are just stacked here and there. That is ok. If you are a musical dinosaur like some of us, some of the fun is in the hunt itself. The only drag is parking. Street parking is your only option and it is rough. The good news is there are some cool other shops in this area to explore, like books, beer, food, etc. Well worth a visit for music fans. read more

Vinyl Junkies is one of the best record shops in the San Diego area for crate digging! There is no parking lot here but a lot of street parking all around the area. Inside, they have a nice setup with additional crates for digging in their patio area. The vinyls here are very nicely organized by genres and artists and are all priced fairly. All of the staff are also friendly and welcoming. I browsed around for a good couple hours and found a lot of gems. I ended up picking up a Miles Davis, Ryo Fukui, and Stan Getz vinyls for my growing jazz collection and called it a day. I will definitely be back for some more crate digging next time I am in the area! read more

Coming here the day after Christmas was probably a mistake because it was packed! But I had a great time browsing the records and cds at Vinyl Junkies. The entrance leads to a small building but there are two additional areas with more music to browse. They have a lot of different genres. I've been going here for years and they definitely have a good selection, some stuff not so common. The prices are way too high though on anything I recently looked at. Pull up Discogs when you're in here, and make sure you look up the right version. I just bought a record for $45 I could get for $25 online, the high end price on Discogs is $30, you're selling for $45? This was in their used selection where they bought from individuals, so I'm sure they got a killer deal. I thought it was a different version when I bought it, should've taken more time looking over specifics. Typically I'll go into the majority of local shops and find records for a better deal than I can find online, which makes financial sense. I can't find anything here cheaper than Discogs plus shipping. Give me an incentive to spend my hard earned money here. Update: Returned the record without issue, managed professionally. I updated my rating to reflect my feelings about the business. I'm accountable for not spotting the price discrepancy earlier, always be aware and don't over pay. read more

I love this store!! What a hidden gem. We stumbled upon it while waiting for Mothership down the street. Parking is a little tricky in the area, so I would recommend trying to do street parking in the neighborhoods. This place is jam packed with every genre. From today's top artists to oldies, each section is sorted by kind of music. Prices are pretty reasonable and fair. Nothing too crazy. This local business has been around for about 8 yrs now! I recently visited Vinyl Junkies as a first-time buyer, excited to get into vinyl. While the store seemed well-stocked, I had a pretty disappointing experience with the staff. I called a few times to ask questions about turntables and speaker options, trying to make the right choice before spending a few hundred dollars. Instead of being helpful or welcoming to someone new to the vinyl world, I was met with a rude, condescending tone--especially during my final call. When I asked a perfectly fair question about why their price for the U-Turn Orbit Plus (without a preamp) was $100 more than usual, the staff member gave a short, dismissive answer and ultimately told me they'd just cancel and refund my order. I hadn't even committed to a return--I was trying to upgrade my system with them. It was disappointing, because I had hoped a local vinyl shop would be more supportive to beginners instead of pushing them away. I ended up taking my business elsewhere. My husband and I wanted to check out some vinyls for our record player so we decided to head over here. It's a pretty cool spot where there's two areas. The entrance section where it has a newer selection versus the separate back area with deals on older, used vinyls. My husband and I had fun looking through many and bought quite a bit. My brother was in town and suggested we check out this place. This small record store is located in the Hipsterville part of San Diego. Apparently vinyls are coming back and demand went way up. Before entering the store, you might find a stack of free 33s and 45s outside for your taking. Due to COVID restrictions, a certain amount of people are allowed inside at a time. If it is full to capacity, it might take about a 15-20 minute wait time. Once inside you can take some gloves they have to use to rummage through the vinyl. There's two parts in this place. The front: newer vinyl releases and some popular used ones. You can find anything from Taylor Swift to Guns and Roses. But the real treasure trove is in the back, known as the den. In the den you can find some value vinyls and it is basically a treasure hunt. You can find some good deals on used albums from $3-5. There are some available here for more as well. You'll find them categorized by classic rock, jazz, soul, indie, etc. I usually find something good to buy here. Staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly. I'd be coming back. read more

Vinyl Junkies has a great selection of records to choose from whether you're looking for something classic or something that just came out last week. If they don't have what you're looking for, they can order it online for you and will give you a call for you to pick up when it's ready. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they helped my husband choose a needle to fix my record player since it's been outta commission for a year :( thankfully they had the specific piece I needed for $10 and it's now running smoothly! Street parking here can be tough to find sometimes but this shop is totally worth it. And!! They have a patio space behind the store and another small room that has used vinyls for sale. I seriously love this place so much. I visited for my first time today and it was super therapeutic being in here. There's something really cute and cozy about this place and it has a homely feel, but it also has a lot of character. Upon entering and looking around for a short period of time, Heather at the cashier register was interactive with me, helpful, and made me feel really welcomed. She was really cool and made my experience even more comfortable there. She even allowed me to play an album on the store speakers to see if I would wanna buy the vinyl! I also had the opportunity to speak with another employee here and they were also extremely nice. Nice employees always make me wanna come visit more & these people definitely make me wanna come back! Vinyl Junkies has a really great vinyl selection. I ended up picking up a Khruangbin, A Tribe Called Quest, and a Gorillaz vinyl, but there were so many other vinyls that I really wanted that I will definitely come back for. If you're starting out completely new with your vinyl collection, they also sell vinyl players, speakers, and other cool knick knacks in the store! In addition to the main part of the store, there's also an outside patio out back as well as a little add-on room that has even more vinyls, but for cheap (ranging from Indie to Soul Funk to International to Classic Rock). The outdoor back patio totally looks like such a chill and fun place to hang out while being surrounded by so much good music. You already know I'll be there when all this COVID madness is over with! Overall, I would absolutely come here again. As a matter of fact, I want this to be my primary vinyl shop I go to as a regular! First time visiting the shop as I was looking for a record as a gift, but it had quickly sold out. That just means I have to come back LOL. The front of the stores are all vinyls, but tue back outside area the had some CDs. The back house area had more vinyls and some cassette tapes (this shocked me). I wish I had more time to browse their selection, but was able to enjoy what they had. Also appreciate the bulletin board in which SD events are posted.
