Visited the first time last week. Saw their Instagram post about Short Rib Ragu and was eager to try it. I also picked up the fresh pasta to compliment it. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. It was apparent that they love their customers and called many of them by first name. The food was delicious. These guys need a lesson in customer service. We live about 170 miles away and wanted to make a trip to stock up on Italian specialties and meats. My wife asked me to call and confirm if they had veal cutlets in stock and pricing. The man who answered replied "we don't give out prices over the phone". I explained our situation and travel time but they still refused simply stating it's their policy. We never had this problem with Esposito's, Angelo's or Sacco's. We usually buy about five hundred dollars or product and bring back to southern NJ - guess they don't need our money. read more

This butcher shop used to be in Belleville so if you remember driving to that one it's in a new location now. Apple Maps may tell you that you arrived sooner than you did. That aside this is a family owned, very friendly and high quality butcher. They have a great selection of meats and Italian sausages that they make in-house. They also have a nice array of Italian ingredients such as breads, imported pastas as well as sodas. Cannot say enough great things about this shop! I went in wanting to make a Beef Wellington and they easily could have upsold me to get the more expensive cut of meat. Instead, they helped me pick a less expensive cut and prepped it for me to use in my Wellington. One of the guys there used to be a professional chef so he even gave me some tips on how to make my Wellington an absolute success and it was!!! I will definitely be back very soon. Came hear to pick up a lean cut of beef. The thing I like about this place is that they have a wide range of meats, especially lean cuts. I picked up a top round cut of beef. For a 3 lb cut it was $21. I would like to go back and try some of their cured meats, as well as some of their other lean cuts. The cut I got had a nice deep red color without any brown. Seemed quite fresh Later on, I roasted this bad boy at around 475 in the oven for 7 mins a pound, then shut the oven off and kept it in the oven (door closed) for around 2 hours. The meat was nice and pink in the middle and juicy when was carving it. Mind you, it is not the most tender piece of meat, but it is super lean. Make sure you cut a cut like this across the grain. I did not rub it with any salt (olive oil, garlic, italian seasoning, red pepper), but it tasted well seasoned like I did add salt. Would definitely recommend this place to someone who would like a quality cut of beef. Meat was flavorful without adding a ton of seasoning or salt. Enjoy! read more

Belleville's Hidden Gem, I discovered this place a few months after moving in town, My husband and I walked in we were greeted by staff everyone was really helpful we ordered a couple of sandwiches and they we're delish!!! Ok fast forward 4 years later they are our go to butcher they have the best meats and prices around. I hired them for my husband's 40th birthday catering ( they cater too not just meat) the food was amazing and literally all gone at the end of the night.( the shredded pork was a hit). The Family owned market has a full service butcher and Deli plus numerous home made Italian specialities such as Muzz, ricotta, stuffed breads and other specials. I have purchased meats here on a few occassions and still can't believe the prices. They are awesome and the meats are trimmed to your liking by the butcher. They have home made sausage and also carry Italian cheeses and other Italian products. Check out their family meat options....they are a great bargain. Sometimes I miss the obvious. Many years ago, a friend of mine who was Jewish was looking for a good Italian butcher to get lamb for a Passover Seder. I told him some people recommended Violante & Son on Franklin Street, and he ordered a leg of lamb for the dinner. His father was a butcher not far from Chicago, and he said this was great meat. Almost 20 years later, I went there to get some pork chops and fresh pasta. I make an visit every few weeks to pick up something for the BBQ. This past 4th of July, I had some out of town guests (including 3 people from Istanbul) and was able to pick up enough beef, chicken, lamb, pasta, grated cheese, mozzarella, and other goodies to keep us fed for 5 nights.
