I also then realized the side veggies were not what was on the menu (because they brought the wrong dish). I let the waiter know and he apologized. Mistakes happen and I was not going to insist on a new dish when I had eaten about 1/3 of this one. They did bring over a small cup of shredded crab meat and a sauce. Again, mistakes happen but what irked me was they didn't even adjust the price, charging me higher price for what I ordered, not the lower priced dish they served. I was not looking for a free meal or even a free dessert, but you don't correct the price on what you served??? Again, staff was all nice, but this is my second time there and second eh experience. Calandra does have a nice restaurant up the road, Med Grille, and that is always top notch.

This place is no Joke. I had to do my due diligence prior to writing this review because I thought this place was too good to be true. It has been about 12 weeks since my first visit, and I would say at this point 60% of my meals have come from Caldwell Marketplace. Their meats are as good as they get. Even the chicken tastes twice as good as grocery store chicken. The prepared food is also fantastic. They always switch up their main dishes so you never get bored. Even their kale salad is great..who would have thunk? Don't think that because you are at the butcher, that you won't find some healthy selections. There is usually a grilled chicken something or other and always some fresh grilled and/or steamed veggies for the road. Try the healthy salad while your at it. Good luck putting it down. Let's get down to the heart of this place, and the heart of this review....The meat! Holy Sh*t!! The freshest cuts this side of Kansas City. Compared to even the best meats at Kings, this place is hands down noticeably better. You name it, they have it. If you don't see it in the case, and they hear you mumble some obscure cut, they will go in the back and return with that exact piece of meat freshly cut off of whatever part it was connected to. This is hardly an exaggeration. Not only do they have every steak you can imagine, but they also have unbelievable pork chops. Bone in or out,..as thick as your wrist. I'm getting the meat sweats as I write this. There are so many meat items that I haven't mentioned, or have yet to try, so go check it out for yourself. Last 2 things, and I'll move on. The burgers are like nothing you have ever tasted, and they just got a dry age cooler that is f%ckin nuts. Their everyday items are like the greatest hits of normal sh#t. It's like the owner has been scouring the world looking for the greatest example of each item found in the place. I mean even the pickles and olives are the best around. It might seem like I am going overboard about this place, but you won't be disappointed.. unless your a vegetarian. If that's the case, I'm sure you're familiar with disappointment anyway. Ah..ah.."fake sneeze" LOSER. Actually, even those people would be impressed with the goat cheese, walnut and cranberry salad they always have in the refrigerated case. Prices are always reasonable to very reasonable (strong to very strong). The aforementioned good sized salad is like 7 bucks. This is the last part...hang in there. Even the experienced griller needs some advice every now and then. There are always at least 3 dudes behind the counter to help you with suggestions or cooking tips. They really know their sh&t and only seem slightly bothered to hold your hand through the step by step instructions on how to cook the perfectly seasoned porterhouse steak (or whatever). From what I have seen they have a good flow of traffic coming in that door, so I am pretty sure that these guys don't need the endorsement of some jerk from Roseland. In the same breath, I have never had a problem getting in and out in just a few minutes. If you decide to check this place out, please don't go around 10:30 on Mondays or Wednesdays, I like to have their undivided attention while I am planning out my weekly menu. Oh sh&t, I almost forgot.. Their deli meats are made fresh and the bread they get is awesome. I'm not sure that they love making sandwiches, so you didn't hear it from me. (ask for Arius and order every random topping you can think of.. please don't). Hopefully you enjoy this place half as much as I do. read more

Legit butcher shop. Ive bought large pieces of meat here to bring home to cook as well as their pre marinated cuts of meat like chicken and steaks. Love that they have fancy pastas from brooklyn as well as nice selection of canned goods. This place has continued to get better since they opened and their attention to detail and quality is quite clear. read more

Fantastic local butcher with large cuts of meat for the home chef as well as a ton of prepared foods (i got some great chicken savoy to bring home with fresh cavatelli from brooklyn) and premarinated meats.
