I had a very disappointing experience at Caldwell Marketplace. Despite a long line of customers waiting outside in the cold, the staff didn't open the door a second before 10:00 am. It felt inconsiderate, especially since they could see a long line of people were standing there freezing. Once inside, things didn't improve. They didn't have chicken cutlets prepped or ready to go, which seems like a basic item any butcher should be prepared to offer right away. Instead of getting there at 10:00, get there earlier before doors open and do what is necessary. In addition, the worker was rude adding to my frustration. If you're running a business that relies on customer satisfaction a little preparation and courtesy goes a long way. read more

There is nowhere in this area that can compete with the quality, cleanliness, service, and overall atmosphere in Caldwell Marketplace. I have read about people having issues with price, but if you want quality, which i do, its worth paying for. There is a foodtown and shoprite close by if you want some beakless purdue chicken for $2.99/lb which I am sure you can "wet your beak with". Dont be fooled by negative reviews because those are your typical complainers who like to try and hurt businesses without having a set of balls and going in there to tell the owners about whatever the issue is they had. The food is fresh, the bell and evans chicken is great, and the steaks are always a challenge to figure out which ones to choose on any specific day. They have a huge selection of different meats and other things from bread to fresh, uncooked pasta. My family and I always go there when hosting any occasion, simply because the produce is amazing. The staff is always super helpful and they are very knowledgeable on what is the best choice for the dinner. Last time I was in, I was helped by a young kid about 18 who they referred to as "Angelo", none the less he was very pleasant to talk to and provided the most diligent and excellent customer service. I have never written a review before but really feel that Chris and his team deserve kudos for their remarkable meal. I asked him to cater my daughters baby shower in Westfield. He invited me to his shop to taste his food which I was very impressed with. He never asked for a deposit, obviously works on trust which is what I was going on being from out of state. The chicken Casablanca and brisket as our main dishes were remarkable- obviously fresh, thoughtfully done, and flavorful. The sides he recommended were spot on and delicious.
