I bought a email deal for half off a detail job. My main concern is that I had to schedule like two weeks out. I wasn't prepared for that but now that I now I can plan accordingly because I will revisit. The customer service was pretty good. There was one gentleman who kind of just stared at me when I walked in. Then another man came along, greeted me, confirmed my arrival, explained the service, told me how long it would take, offered me water, and directed me to wait in the lil waiting area. When my car was ready, in the amount of time they told me it would be, they let me know and I looked it over. The one part they forgot is the nooks in crannies in the back armrest but everything else looked amazing. I felt like my car was when I drove it off the lot. The owner did explain other services to me as well. They only have regular business hours so it will be few and far between when I can get out here. I don't feel like taking off work to get my car cleaned. But hey, do you. All in all I'd recommend this place as long as you understand that it'll be a few weeks out for an appointment, the location is no thrills and frills, but your car will be super clean and the people are nice. read more

Bought a LivingSocial deal. Charles Mack (I think the owner) scheduled my appointment at the company's earliest weekend available time (about a month after purchase date). When I showed up, Charles refused to detail my car because he stated the package didn't include cleaning the inside of my car, although the LivingSocial deal said the inside of the vehicle is included. Charles tried to up-sale me a $175 package, which I refused since I already prepaid for the detail. In the end, I wasted my gas and time. Charles wasn't willing to do any of the detail work that I pre-purchased. I could tell he was lazy and didn't want to take the time to clean my car. I just picked up my car, after receiving an interior and exterior detail, along with shampooing. When I went to pick it up, the next steps to ensure my car stays in good condition were thoroughly explained to me, and my car looks immaculate. I will definitely be taking my car back for a waxing, as recommended and returning as a regular customer! My seats were stained from my dog, and my car was filthy after being left with family members after a six month deployment I couldn't be happier with the service I received today. read more

Purchased a Living Social deal and appointments for any type of service are always a month out. It's ridiculous! Why would anyone schedule an appointment for a car wash in advance when you dont know how the weather is going to be? It's stupid and it is very clear that they started these deals without having the manpower to back them up and complete them in a timely manner. I wish I had never bought the deal because it is a waste of time and completely impractical. It is more of an inconvenience to have to schedule an appointment for a random car wash then to just redeem it at will like any other car wash. Plus, their normal prices for services are way too high. You would do much better off going to any other car wash in the area. Do not waste your money! read more

Purchased a Groupon for tint and had to wait over TWO MONTHS for an appointment. Arrive about 10 min early and they tell me it will be 1-2 hours. I asked them to call me when the car was ready. I called to check back in around hour 2 and to my dismay they tell me that it will be easily another two hours because they messed up the order on the car in front of me. Needless to say I told them that I was just going to pick up my car. They seemed a little confused by me not wanting to wait another TWO HOURS. I wish I could give this place NO STARS. Or negative stars. Only then could I accurately rate VIP Auto Appearance. My husband purchased a Groupon for an auto start back in December and gave it to me for Christmas. I scheduled an appointment many weeks in advance, and told them the year, make and model of my car at the time I scheduled the appointment. When my husband and I arrived at what was clearly a gas station in a former life, we were told that it would be a four-hour job. That was at 11:00 a.m. At 3:45, fifteen minutes before closing, we hadn't heard anything, so I called them to inquire about the status of my car. I was told thirty minutes (meaning, ready by 4:15), so my husband and nephew left to pick up the car, which was about thirty minutes away. When my husband called to notify them that he was nearby, they told him that it would be another 45 minutes (meaning 5:00) before it was ready. And even then, it wouldn't be "ready" because they didn't have all of the parts that they needed to complete the job. Remember, I notified them of the YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL of the car when I made the appointment weeks earlier. We picked up the car on Sunday because I needed it for work on Monday and we were told not to use the auto start because it could force all of the windows and sunroof to open automatically. Sure enough, on a trip to Target with my daughter in the car, the windows and sunroof opened twice...only I didn't use the auto start, I just opened the door. My husband got in touch with the owner to complete the job on Monday. On Monday morning, when my husband got in the car to take my daughter to daycare (and then back to VIP), it wouldn't start. Just a lot of clicking and lights flashing, which my daughter found fascinating but my husband did not. After assuming that the auto start drained the power out of the battery in my car, VIP dispatched a tech to my home...without a battery to fix the car. By that time I was completely disgusted with everything having to do with VIP and asked them to just remove the auto start and refund my husband's money. The tech removed the auto start and we're waiting for a refund. Shortly after the tech left, my husband learned that he was unable to roll down all of the windows simultaneously with the key fob, and that he was unable to roll down the front passenger side window at all. I was told that maybe the window lock was activated. For one window?!?!?!? I will be going to the dealership to pay for an expensive electrical repair because of the incompetence of VIP. I would not recommend that anyone go there for anything. read more

The $60-70 services are worth it. But the higher priced services are not well done. They missed easy visible details that just required wiping off dust and grim with a wet cloth in the $225 car for sale package I bought. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't excellent work either. The people at the shop are nice but you need to check on their work before taking the car. read more

The crew did an amazing job cleaning the inside of my car. There was not a spot to be found. I went in with no expectations but I was completely blown away. They only reason I did not give it five stars is because while doing such a thorough scrub they increased the size of a tear in my passenger seat. Don't know if that could have been avoided or not but seeing a larger whole was kind of a let down. I'd still go back and I will be back for future services. read more

I bought the Window Tint and Exterior Detail package from Groupon for $99. Considering tint is running anywhere from $150 on up to $500 these days, I figured $99 was a hell of a deal for the tint alone. Upon scheduling my appointment, I was informed that the exterior detail could not be performed on the same day as the tint. I live in Arlington, VA, so the drive to Clinton MD while during normal hours was tough enough to make once, let alone go back for the follow up/exterior detail. Needless to say, I will not be returning for the exterior detail, but simply because I cannot get the time to drive 45 minutes each way, and also wait for the detail to be done. VIP is located in a bit of a scary neighborhood, but they do provide quality and friendly service. When I arrived, Charles Jr was at the shop and helped me with any questions I had about the Groupon. He offered a few add-ons, but was not high pressure at all, and I opted to get the 'computer fit' tint -- which is more precise than hand cut tint, and also speeds up the installation time. The staff is very knowledgeable about tint, the laws that go with it, and all around about cars and how to care for them. They are quick to answer any questions you may have as well. I got my tint done about a month ago, and it still looks absolutely perfect. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality tint/detail shop. read more

I attempted to redeem my Groupon for a Silver Level Interior Detail from VIP Auto Appearance and am disappointed that no one called me back for a full week (I had to call them again and they apparently had the wrong phone number written down for me), then I find out the earliest wash/detail I can schedule is a month out which is a deal breaker for me. It is very clear that they are only willing to accomodate new cash/credit card customers since they already got their money from living social. I normally give a business the benifit of the doubt but i went for my appointment for tint and detail apparently they didnt have time and were backed up but the next appointments i could make was a month later when i came the following month i waited almost four hours outside cause the business was closed at 5. i had a trip i was going on and wanted my car tinted. after it finally got done the guy who looks like hygiene and gingivitis is a major problem . This place is great! While it is a bit of a drive from Arlington, the customer service has been wonderful and the value for my dollar has been fantastic! I know it doesn't look like the most attractive shop but they do really great work! Overall tacky setting, expect for the detailers and the manager to leave toilets seat up, and trash thrown all over the waiting area. For the VIP presidents to be in Enterprise and Steve Harvey hoody award winners you would expect a "VIP" waiting area experience. Not the case, more of a abandoned crack house. Detailing is bare minimum similar to what you would get at a typical shop at HALF the price. Owners are never there and too busy trying to be a celebrity, which is why their customer service is at bare minimum. Oh and how do i know this? I use to be a receptionist for over 4 years with the company until Mr. Mack screwed my tint job up and refused to fix it. read more

Got a Groupon for window tinting for my BMW and it was done well. While they had to schedule my appointment one month in advance, I didn't really mind as long as it was done before my groupon expired. The whole service was overall good. They provided water while I was waiting and suggested a place to go eat nearby. The place may not have the best view so they could work on remodeling/presentation but as far as the quality of work and service they provided. I am a satisfied customer. read more

Bought tinting and detailing from living social. I've gotten tinting done 5 times before and I was always pleased. This place, omg, worst job ever. I had to fix bubbles myself on 4 windows, and rear window was just a total mess. Their excuse was "we entered wrong model of the car so film we got was different size". I told them to fix it but they said no as their temp tinting guys already left for the day. I called, also asked in person to make sure that I get 50 on front and 35 in the back(legal max in VA). I got 35 all around, now my car is illegal. Exact same thing happened to my friend who also bought the same deal. He got 35 all around with dust pieces between film and window, bubbles all over, etc. My another friend who also bought the same deal, go figure, bubbles all over, and this time, 50 all around. We had to wait for a month and a half to get next available appointment to get the tint fixed as well as to get detailing done. Yet another bubbles after the fix, and no detailing as they over booked themselves. Drove all the way there two times, wasted 2 Saturdays to get nothing accomplished. They have "life time warranty" but amount of time we've wasted w such a poor job, we are going to get our cars re-tinted at local places we normally use. They hardly show the picture of their place online, you know why? Because the place looks like abandoned trashed gas station. If you are female, go with your guy friend as you will feel unsafe/uncomfortable there. read more

I went to VIP Auto Detailing in response to a promotion that they launched due to their participation in Steve Harvey's Hoody Awards. The e-mail promotion was for a free interior and exterior car wash. After I did what was necessary to receive the free car wash, I called to schedule a time to come in. When I arrived at the shop for my appt., a young man took my information and provided me with an invoice that said I would receive an interior and exterior detail. He also informed me that it would take about an hour to an hour and half. I was delighted because I had simply come for a car wash, so I gladly signed it. A few minutes later, I was pulled to the side by the owner who informed me that he would only be able to do my exterior and would not do my interior unless I purchased a shampoo for $145. His reason for this is that he wanted to ensure that my car would leave his shop meeting HIS standards. Mind you my car was not in an awful state it had just been detailed two months earlier. When I explained to him that my expectation was just to have an interior and exterior car wash; therefore, I would not need a shampoo -- he refused to even vaccum the car. Mind you he had already committed to wiping it down and vaccuming it via the printed invoice that I had signed. I continued to explain to him that I had not come their for a detail and that my expectation was a car wash like the marketing promotion stated (they also happen to have this on their web site now "Free Hand Car Wash"). I also pointed out to him that, due to my busy schedule, the portion of the services I was looking most forward to was the interior cleaning because I often don't have the time to do that. I could get the exterior cleaned anywhere. He still refused to even touch the inside of my car unless I purchased the shampoo. I was furious! I spent an hour there, only to walk away with an exterior wash (nothing special) when I could have just gone to the car wash two doors down paid my $20 and had everything done in 20-30 min. I guess he's only great to his paying customers which makes me wonder why he would ever run a promotion for anything free. Clearly he and his marketing folk have no understanding about marketing ethics or new customer retention. As a marketing professional, I found it deeply disturbing. Great experience, I've been taking my car to VIP Auto long enough to see them slack now, and my car still looks as new as the day I bought it when I stay with my monthly appointments. They don't ever slack over time. They do a FANTASTIC job of cleaning my Lexus to perfection, which has a cream interior and I am very finicky about the woodgrain, tires, etc. Everything is done by hand, and I've used their basic wash, interior/exterior shampoo, all are great and done in a timely manner. They have also buffed out scratches and nicks for a very reasonable cost, where others have quoted 3 times as much. I originally tried VIP through a groupon special, and scheduled the monthly follow up. Their shop is a little small, but the staff are always friendly and I really like that it is a family business in the community to support. Sometimes they are uber busy and its hard to get someone on the phone, but that is rare, maybe I am fortunate, or maybe I represent the majority of satisfied customers who may not take the time to write Yelp reviews. Will definitely continue to use them as long as they continue to provide top notch cleaning services at reasonable prices. read more

This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a detail shop. I bought two groupon packages totaling about $100. What I didn't know was that they would change the details of what I purchased once they got my money. If I bought 20 details, I should be able to use them when I want...NOT ONE PER MONTH!! And now they want to give you only a year to use them all?? I'm in the military and was reassigned only 4 hrs away. I was still willing to drive back to this shop to use up the rest of my groupon services whenever I was in town but this shop refused to work with me. I will NEVER recommend this shop to anyone I know...nor any strangers. They will only detail your vehicle properly if they like you and you don't have any complaints. I asked to speak to the manager but I was always told the manager was "unavailable". I left a written message and no one ever called me to address my concerns.
