Avoid Mavis at All Costs…read more On 5/27/25, I brought my car to Mavis for new brake pads and rotors. When I picked it up, the brakes were worse than before--there was a loud metal grinding noise, the brake response felt unsafe, and the steering was suddenly off. None of these issues existed prior to the visit, and notably, Mavis made no mention of any other problems when they returned the car to me. I brought it back and was told--by the receptionist, not a mechanic--that the issue was my lower control arm. This was never mentioned during the original visit. When I asked for clarification or to speak with a manager, the receptionist became rude and refused to connect me with anyone else. I took the car to a trusted local garage, where they diagnosed the control arm issue and had to completely redo the brake job that Mavis had botched. I ended up paying twice--once for Mavis to make things worse, and again to get it fixed correctly. Despite all this, Mavis is refusing to fully refund me. They keep pointing to their "lifetime warranty" on the brake pads and rotors--as if I would ever trust them with my vehicle again. And if you get to the point of dealing with the regional manager, Don Harrison (737-389-6979), don't expect much. He either dodges your calls or talks down to you--especially if you're a woman. I was without a car for nearly two weeks, spent double what I should have, and was treated with complete disregard. Take your business anywhere else.

A couple of hours later, I got a call from the shop saying my current brakes were still in great condition and just wanted to confirm if I still wanted to upgrade to the higher quality brakes. I really appreciated the shop calling me. I'm now getting the front steering system checked and replaced if needed. I had my dad call up there around 1030ish for them to tell him they were testing it now. So I waited and nothing. I called again the guy informed me it was on the rack I needed an alignment and suggestion of new back tires. ( I told them during the check in I had just replaced these tires brand new tires two in Feb 22 2025 and the other March 6 2025.) I informed no on the tires yes for the alignment. I called back to see new estimates time on when it would be finished for them to tell me it was on the rack it would be going on the rack now I guess for real this time but still no ETA at this point. Well around 240 I get a call it's ready for me to pick it up. I get to it the place and supposedly all mechanics are gone for the day. I ask the guy that put my information in he must of didn't deliver the message that I just purchased those tires and he tells me he did ( i see it on the paper) he's not sure why they would call and tell me that. That unfortunately they just do what they want. We'll I get in the car not only is she shaking still but now she's making a humming sound. I call them back for them to tell me that's why he suggested the tires. I hang up and start crying security I'm so tired of MEN mechanics taking advantage of us Women. Like I get everyone is out for a buck now but what happened to honest workers there is no reason to scam everyone you see as a target or quick buck. The alignment itself was completed properly, and the first technician did his job well. However, after my car had already been removed from the garage and the technician went to lunch, things became uncomfortable and concerning. I was then asked if I wanted a tire rotation for an additional $10, even though I had already said "if needed." I agreed, trusting their judgment. At that point, only two employees were present--one at the desk and one in the shop. My vehicle was brought back into the garage. While I was watching through the courtesy window, a technician raised a large toolbox lid directly in front of my face, completely blocking my view, and never returned to that toolbox. I found this behavior rude and unnecessary. When I mentioned it to the desk associate, my concern was dismissed. Afterward, while paying, I was told my hub bearings were failing and was handed a quote for over $1,000, with pressure to have it done immediately. Given the timing, lack of transparency, and unprofessional behavior after my original service was already completed, the situation felt fishy and left me uncomfortable and distrustful. The alignment itself was fine, but the events that followed made me feel taken advantage of. I will not be returning.
