I am grateful to VIP for making good on a set of tires after an extended period of time. My wife was unable to drive her car for a year after VIP installed a set of tires with quality of ride issues. We recently had all four brakes replaced and the staff was professional and the work was completed in timely manner.

A year later and nothing was resolved as they screwed me out of 600$ for crappy pads and rotors that actually had to get fixed again due to someone putting on the wrong size rotors! That little punk was too busy beating the piss out of my sports car (12 miles of fun) . NEVER GO HERE unless you want to spend hard earned money to people who just want to take you/your nice things for granted! A trust worthy mechanic is hard to come by nowadays..... read more

Looks to be good tire place. I had appointment for state inspection. The inspection took just over an hour to complete, which to me seems too long. Guys were friendly. They were obviously disappointed when I told them I have a different mechanic to fix a flaw which caused inspection failure, but their prices are double my mechanics. I am highly considering using them for flushing all my fluids for ~ $450 because they use Valvoline flush systems which do it properly. I would trust them for tires and simple service. Their mechanic rate is $105/hr. Update: I had my new license plates in the car. They installed them for me. Thanks, this was a real surprise, but I really appreciated it. read more

I came in for a state inspection in July was told my vehicle failed and given a list on why it failed an expensive list that took me two months to get all the work done...... I call VIP ask for another appointment for inspection after I have had the deficiencies corrected they explain to me it has to be the same person to do it a second time that did it the first time that's fine I asked VIP on the phone I handled everything on the list when I bring this in someone isn't just going to find a whole bunch of different issues and fail me again right? She says no they will go off the original list from the first inspection. bring it in the same person inspects it I'm told it fails because the e brake now does not hold the vehicle and my front license plate needed to be screwed into my bumper instead of secured with metal wire (I drive a Jeep with an after market steel bumper there's no way to screw into that) I am livid. How were these issues not mentioned the first time. I spent over 2k getting the things fixed and every time I take it back the SAME person tells me something else is wrong. How did the license plate pass the first time but not the second? This makes no sense they just like to fail every veteran that comes in to use the free inspection so they can get money out of us. I would rather pay the money to an honest shop then have VIP touch my vehicle ever again even for free. read more

Went to VIP to have the battery on my Volvo replaced. I have already purchased two batteries for this car and each they did a professional installation. Both batteries performed as expected. This time was different. First they brought me a test slip that told me they felt my six year old battery was good. In fact the slip said the CCA was very close to that of a new battery. I asked if they could tell how old the battery was. They went back out to check and this time returned with a test slip which showed the CCA was 250A less than before. They told me they couldn't tell how old the battery was and suggested That charging the battery would suffice. I left but after learning the battery was six years old I decided to return to have the battery replaced. This time, just two hours later they wanted to charge $70 to install. This service was free the two previous times I'd had it replaced there. It was also free two hours earlier. Very disappointed. If I have to pay for installation, I'll buy it for less elsewhere. read more

This business should not be trusted! I Brought my car there for an inspection sticker. I was told my car needed a $500 ball joint. I called the dealership and they quoted a new ball joint at $380. I didn't believe this could be true and took it to another reputable company. I told them I was told I needed a new ball joint. Well, the technician thoroughly check the ball joint and reported no problem. I got a new sticker. It was clear that VIP wanted to make some money off me. read more

Extremely over priced. Needed rear brake pads rotors and calipers done, as well as front pads. Was quoted 1300...found a place to do the same thing for 550...cars running great. Took less than 2 hours to do... I understand they were very busy and it's hard to get someone in when they weren't scheduled...but to have to run to mass to get parts...when you're connected to a parts store? Kinda odd. The other place got parts in in less than an hr and the guy almost had a stroke when I told him what I was quoted at vip....then he laughed about it with the guy at the parts store. read more

Overpriced crooks that try to sell you stuff that isn't really needed $242.00 for an alignment and 1 outer tie rod and supposedly a free inspection sticker for vehicle . Then they try to tell me my rear brake rotors were delaminated and would not pass inspection . Rear rotors were not rusted at all or grooved an not at all noisy. I brought to another garage and they said rear pads were only 1/2 worn and rotors were fine. Should have passed for inspection for 1 more year in my opinion with no questions asked . Rotors had small marks that they said was delamination starting . Been around cars and garages for over 45 years and totally disgusted with vip in Rochester N.H. Dint and won't recommend them to any one. They wanted $564 for brakes and and all work of alignment and 1 tie rod.overpriced crooks and don't or won't recommend to any one read more

I dropped off our old Subaru for the annual inspection, knowing it has been sitting a year that it might have some issues. Had shocks and struts replaced while I was in the area recently. The shop was accommodating in regards to scheduling and matched a price from a competitor. While they were completing the job they diagnosed a failed ball joint, and replaced it all in the same visit. Happy with the results and will definitely return for future work when needed. read more

Started off my day getting a bolt in my rear tire from a poorly cleaned up accident scene. Headed over to my local VIP auto to get it looked at. Went in for a oil change. Had an appointment at 230. I arrived at 215 with my 5 year old daughter. At 330. I asked why I wasn't seeing my car go in. They continued to tell me they were checking on it. Had 6 people go ahead of me. One couple told me I should have gone to promto for my oil change they are much faster. Honestly I must agree with them. I got my car back at 5. Went to leave. They never reset the oil change light do I had to go back in and have them reset it. I was so angry and called a district manager. Who basically told me he didn't care and why was I calling him. Not once did he apologize. Needless to say I won't be going back ever. Oh and neither will my 5 year old. Every time we drive by she says I'm never going there again they take too long. Worst service ever. Don't waste your time. And the employees are un happy. But with a district manger like theirs I can see why. read more

Used to be my go-to auto service location. Unfortunately my last experience with them has me feeling that I need to go elsewhere. Went for a wheel bearing replacement/state inspection. After looking the truck (2010 RAM) over, they came back with a few other items they deemed necessary. One was a replacement of the transmission pan. I know the pan had a fair amount of surface rust and would need to be replaced at some point, but didn't think this was an inspection item. I also commented to the Service manager that I had not seen a spot of anything on my driveway where I park. He said that was because of the guard under the transmission - the truck doesn't have anything between that pan and the ground. They charged me 3x the cost of the most expensive transmission pan that I could find on a couple automotive part supply sites. They also claimed I needed two new rear brake rotors. I have no problem with their diagnosis, but again, the price charged for each rotor was more than double than any price I have ever paid for brake rotors - and I usually buy premium rotors when replacing. I don't mind paying the involved labor costs; my complaint isn't about that. I specifically had them do the work because I lacked the time to do most of this myself - but it is the over-inflated part prices I have an issue with, in addition to recommending other repairs that may or may not be needed. This is the first time that this location has done this to me. I don't know if this behavior has to do with the newer staff (who I'm not familiar with). My 2003 Toyota Tundra failed emissions test at my local repair shop. The failure code was "Evaporative system" which is all the hoses and stuff that keeps the gas from evaporating from the tank and lines. My shop does not do the evaporative system emissions or "Smoke" test to diagnose the evap fault . I found that VIP was capable of the test and brought the truck in for diagnosis. I got a call from VIP that day it was in their shop and they said the Catalytic converter code came up when they scanned it. They said the price tag for a cat installed was upward of $2,500. My radar went up when I heard the proposed price. Note that the catalytic converter has nothing functionally to do with the original "evaporative system" code. I was not shown the code on their scanner. I had them do the evaporative diagnosis and they replaced the gas cap and I paid and left. Understand that I scanned the truck computer twice before I brought the truck to VIP, once with my personal scanner and the second time at my local service garage that failed the evaporative system. In both cases the scan showed a fault in the evaporative system. Neither of the scans indicated a code for catalytic converter. When I got the truck back from VIP no faults were showing so I drove it 100 miles to reset the diagnostics memory and still no codes. Just to confirm that my scanner was right I had my local garage scan it another time for the state emissions and it passed. No catalytic code. There obviously was nothing ever wrong with the catalytic converter. Apparently the shop manager needed a boat payment that week. Be very careful with this group. Ask for proof of their diagnosis, ask to look at any "failed" parts, codes, readouts, leaks or whatever. Caveat Emptor ! read more

Took my car in because variable timing valve and o2 sensor codes for my check engine light. I already had o2 sensor for bank 1 upstream from Toyota. They said it didn't need put in because fixing the variable timing valve fixed it. They did headlight restoration even though we never approved that. They charged me $1000 to not fix anything. My check engine light went back on a few weeks later with the exact same codes. We went back to tell them and set up appointment for them to actually fix it. They then were like oh yeah you were the person who had the wrong part. When I explained that they told us that fixing the timing valve corrected that issue they were like no it was wrong part. I went to auto parts store and had them look up code and double check that it was right part. Yep it was. They said sometime mechanics will do that so you have to buy part from them. We took it back and they said they couldn't get anything to malfunction. We took it to another mechanic and they put o2 sensor in and connected some tubes vip left unconnected and it worked. They are suppose to be participating in the motorist assurance program with high standards for automotive repair. Must not be that high of standards. read more
