Once you register you are automatically sent a Google Calendar event invite, which was a great touch! I think the instructors said they cap the class at 8 students, although we only had 4. I was wondering what to wear and glad I made the right choice- I think everyone in our group was wearing a bathing suit with some quick-drying clothes over top. It doesn't really matter what you wear on your feet because you will be taking your shoes off when you get on the board. I believe lessons are still held if it's raining, but not if it's storming. If you have a waterproof camera, you can give it to one of the instructors to hold on to and take pictures of you. We left our keys/water behind. They begin by teaching you about types of boards/paddles, all of the parts and their purpose, as well as safety. Once you are out in the water, you will practice kneeling, getting to your feet, and turning around. You will also practice maneuvering around objects and spend some time just paddling. It is a-ok if you fall and in fact, it was encouraged just to help us get over the fear of falling in. Both instructors were very encouraging and positive! I'm so glad I took this course as I started out moving my arms/paddle in a not-so-effective way and probably wouldn't have figured out how to do it the right way on my own. The course definitely helped me feel comfortable on the board. So what's next? They offer their Splash course and Pack Paddles to those who have taken the beginner course. They also offer eco tours regardless of whether you have taken the beginner course. I'm definitely tempted to try the Pack Paddle next because after today I can't wait to get back out there!

To your left, the path is covered in Kudzu vines, maintained by Hopewell Parks and Rec, creating a gorgeous backdrop for selfies or group photos. On your right, the scenic Appomattox River provides a lovely view of the water. You have to be very observant and work in coordination with your team, otherwise you won't make it out in time! The owner was very friendly and the clues interesting! You must work as a team and systematically work through the clues. Fresh eyes are a must, so rotate through your team! You get three hints if needed. We're a bunch of escape room fanatics. :) We did the elephant shujaa room where the objective is to hunt down the poachers. You enter a tent to search for clues to hunt down the location of the poachers to capture them. I really did feel like I was in Africa with the heat (haha). Points for immersion :) We were provided with a walkie-talkie and 3 hints if needed. Sleuthing around the tent required being very observant, attention to detail and team work. The clues made sense and were not convoluted. I wouldn't recommend the max of 8 people. It can get tight in there. Maybe 2-5people. We had a good time despite the heat. We broke out with 11min and 29 seconds to spare with a group of 3. If you're in town, check this place out! I hail from VB so the next time I do come it will be if I'm in the area for other things.

Supposed to be a field paint only field, yet you are getting hit by paint brought in from Dicks Sporting Goods, or tournament paint by the local teams who apparently have a pass to circumvent the rules. Which if you shot the field paint you would understand. The field paint has to be the seconds or thirds from a Friday run, golf balls don't have this many dimples on it. Barrel breaks and curve balls galore, all while opposing teams shoot lasers at you, because they are apparently Gods children. If you are a walk on, beware the children of God will be gunning for you with all of their fancy equipment and fresh tournament paint Some of the fields are literally just piles of trash drug out of somebodies yard and arranged in a not so organized fashion to be bunkers. Some of the fields really pose a credible injury risk. The one half decent field they had was torn down. The management and staff, well some of them try. The manager there, he has tried to help, but quite obviously is paralyzed by piss poor ownership with his own agenda. Some of the other staffers try to help as well, while others have quite obviously given up and are there for either perks or the mediocre paycheck I am sure they receive. Don't even think about playing a scenario here. The owner stacks the odds by bringing his "professional" team out and arranging them all on one team to completely sweep the people that are there to have fun. The most fun of the scenarios are when it's over and you leave. The actual owner of this place is really in it to just further is personal agenda. He has no real intentions is furthering the sport or bringing in new faces. Back in the early 2000's when this place was under different ownership it was absolutely a blast to play here. Could never find parking because it was always packed. Now you are generally left waiting for people to show up to play against. Just save your money people, 15 minutes further the other direction are some great parks in southern Maryland and Northern Virginia if you want to experience real paintball

I have played fields all over the country and I found this one to be in the top 90%. I would have given the field 5 stars but there was constant issues with the air. If you used 3000, you were set. If you wanted 4500 you were out of luck for much of the time. The manager was fighting an uphill battle with so many players and tried everything he could. He did a great job and I felt he was embarrassed and sorry about the issues. The manager did a great job to keep all of the players happy and the refs were fair and focused on fair play and safety.

Our kid had fun playing on the playground, which featured two structures (one for older kids, one for younger kids), a swing set, a short climbing wall and a tire swing. I liked the tire swing, it was painted green and yellow (PG colors!) and had any potentially sharp edges smoothed out. The whole area has tall pine trees throughout. Overall, the playground was a good place to spend a little time and let the kid run around a bit; I would go here again.
