I will go to UVA in November to have my scalp removed from my forehead back to the crown. I don't know how extensively it has grown on the sides. But I do know it took years to grow to the extent it has. It is a horror to comtemplate and I would never want anyone to go what I am going through. It won't kill me, but it is going to change my life substantially. Think about this if you still want to make an appointment with Avenues Dermatology for anything other than Botox. Someone should have done a biopsy years ago. So take care and ask for a biopsy if you have a scaly spot that doesn't go away.

When I showed up, they didn't have the appointment in the books. The receptionist apologized and offered me a Friday afternoon appointment, which was fine. What I was having done is a short appointment and being upset about the error wouldn't do any good. Came back on Friday for my appointment and everything went as expected. The facility is clean and bright. It skews a little clinical, but that doesn't surprise me given their affiliation with a dermatologist office. I made an appointment to come back in 2 weeks to see the results, so I'm definitely coming back. Glad to have a reliable service provider in Richmond.

I could have called, but the spa opened at 9am, and I didn't want to make a phone call in the car knowing I will be there soon. When I tried to check in, the front desk associate Kirstan Fournier berated me for being late. She said that I was unacceptably late, that Elena has a full day ahead, and that she doesn't know if Elena can accommodate me so they would have to take a no-show fee (which is my deposit). I was very apologetic and said I understood if I needed to reschedule. At this point, Elena came out and said that she could fit me in, but instead of trusting the Master Aesthetician's judgment, Kirstan said, "We will see what Elena can do, it is stated in your clauses that there is a no show fee and you obviously can't read or be on time." The reason why I was very upset is primarily because of the "you obviously can't read" comment. As an Asian woman, this sentence felt distinctly racially motivated. I sat in the spa treatment feeling humiliated and agitated. I reached out to management a few hours later, and the manager Maya told me "I'm sorry you misunderstood what Kirstan had said, we are not a business that allow discrimination." So it is the whole i'm sorry you feel this way, but it's your fault for not understanding correctly, our staff didn't do anything wrong, it's all on you for mishearing and misunderstanding. When I asked for a logical explanation i.e. would you (other staff) remember something was not said to you but just as a surrounding conversation half a day ago? She had no answer for me. I am very disappointing in lack of responsibility the manager & staff are taking. All I wanted was an apology and they told me I imagined the whole thing. TEXTBOOK GASLIGHTING. This is even more disturbing than the previous incident. The business is not willing to take responsibility but rather denies all wrong doings.
