$1500 to diagnose a urinary tract infection, see the attached photo. At a different Vet, my cats spay and rabies shot was $235.44, that was surgery involved in that price. Diagnosis of a UTI: $200-$300 max at a regular Vet, and because they do evenings/ emergency style center I could justify double the price, at $500-$600. You decide for yourself if you are willing to pay $1500 to diagnose a UTI issue. This is my fault, I should have done more research before I went to the Virginia Veterinary Center in Fredericksburg. read more

Our seven week old puppy stopped eating and was throwing up. Was not taking in any food. She started to have seizures and we rushed her to VVC. We were taken immediately and found out that she was having hypo glycemic shock. The doctor was compassionate and caring and they took our baby back right away. She stayed overnight. The staff was very good at explaining all charges and what she would need to have done. It wasn't cheap but you can expect that in an emergency facility.. They kept us updated on her progress and by the next day she was doing well and could go home. I cannot say enough good things about this facility. They literally saved our puppy's life. Virginia Veterinary Centers in Central Park killed our baby Boston!!! They diagnosed her with an eye ulcer 1am 8/15 and at 8:30 pm 8/15 she is gone. They sent her home with no fluids even after we told them that she didn't want to eat or drink. We called them today to tell them that she wasn't doing well and they told us to just give more pain medicine. We brought her in because it didn't make sense. She needed fluids. The vet took her back and Boston passed away. Why? They can't tell me but for $200, I can get an autopsy. read more

My dog got a stick stuck on the roof of his mouth. He was in pain and refused to let us remove it. I called Virginia Veterinary Centers and asked if they were specialized in handling dogs who showed aggression when in pain. They assured me that their staff were the best. I was told there would be a visit fee of $115, which I readily agreed to. After I arrived and they took my dog inside (which was a confusing, negative experience - it did not seem they knew how to handle an aggressive dog at all), they told me it would be an additional fee of $60 for a sedative, which I agreed to. I called after an hour went by and they tell me he's been sedated and they're getting ready to pull the stick out. Fast forward two hours later (I'm still sitting in the parking lot since they said I wasn't allowed to leave), they call and said my bill is $390. When I ask why, the vet tells me it's because they had to give my dog extra doses of the sedative and then medicine to reverse the effects of the sedative plus an additional fee to have the stick removed. I told them that I never agreed to those additional charges and they should have gotten authorization from me. I say that I will pay them for what was originally agreed upon and then contest the other charges. The vet tells me that I'm being rude and that they will not release my dog to me until all charges are paid. I ask who I need to speak with to get this rectified and she tells me the hospital director, who conveniently isn't in. I'm in tears at this point because they're essentially holding my dog as ransom. The vet tells me that she knows she should have gotten authorization from me but that she was "too busy working on my dog for two hours" to ask. Umm...you sedated him and popped a stick out of his mouth. No blood work, no surgery, not even stitches. It's been four days and the hospital director has yet to return my daily calls. These people are a complete rip off, unprofessional, and will run up your bill just to line their pockets - all while holding your pet as collateral. read more

I was scared to even bring my dog her after some of the comments that I read before coming. Some of the worst that I seen. My experience there was ok. I ended going two days in a row. The first day I was pleasantly surprised at the service i was given. Everything was taken in great detail. The second day however, not so much. I told the front desk staff that i was coming back as my dog condition had worsened. One of the girls at the front desk (don't know her name) barely let me finish what i was saying before she interrupted me and asked for my information before having me go sit down. The tech came up to me to get the information so i started from the beginning of why i was there and she cut me off saying that she wasn't there the day before to which i responded with i know. From then on it seemed as if she just wanted me to be quite. They took her to the back and then put me in a room where i waited 30-45 minutes. The vet came in and gave me a diagnosis and told me to follow up with my vet and call a specialty vet and gave me some of my options. She was ok with the entire situation. After she left it was another 20 minutes to get my paperwork. I had questions about it and it took another 30 minutes to get an answer before i was taken to the front counter to check out. Mind you i still didn't have my dog. after they said i was good to go since it was less then 24 hours from first coming in they got my dog. Day 1 great service day two all the reviews i read reared its ugly head. read more

This place took my dog from me and stuck him in a CAGE (the receptionist words)for almost 5 hours while he was in agonizing pain from a copperhead bite. I had called them in advance and they said bring him in. I told them it was a snake or spider bite they didn't even so much as look at him in the HOURS they had him locked up. They told me at 8:00 they were taking him back to check his vitals and would call me. Over an hour later I had to call them. They told me he was fine no changes in his foot and he was waiting to be seen. An hour and a half later I had to call again and was told the same BS lie. Welp that's because they couldn't say "there's only one vet you need to take him somewhere b else" because then my money would go somewhere else. After waiting hours a nurse finally tells me their Richmond office doesn't have the long wait..... SERIOUSLY HOURS LATER!! I'm not in any kind of medical field and I know poisonous bites are TIME SENSITIVE Finally after speaking with another vet and telling her his symptoms and what was happening at the Hospital she informed me he needed to be seen ASAP that it was most likely a copperhead. She was human enough to be honest and not waste anymore of my dogs time and tell me go to another hospital that she didn't have the antivenom. The way his body reacted it was obvious he needed it and a lot of time had already passed. I had to tell them to give me my dog back. I rushed him to get real care in Woodbridge. Now because of these inhumane, lying, money hungry fake emergency care joke monsters,my dog has massive permanent tissue damage. It's no where close to over for him. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. How dare you let these poor innocent animals suffer the way you do! FB is on fire with the story of what you did to my poor dog! We always go to Ferry Farms, but this place is wonderful in emergencies. One of our fellas got very ill on a Saturday night. At 3am, I called them and the kind lady told me to come straight over. My husband and I did not expect the diagnosis, although when you rescue older dogs who have been mistreated, health issues sometimes arise suddenly. The vet came out right away and told us our little girl was in CHF. When I asked if she was suffering, she replied, "She is suffocating. There is little I can do. She is on oxygen." So we made the decision to let Elsie go. The vet was so kind. She waited until we felt sure and then told us it was what she would do herself. They took care of the cremation and returned the ashes in a beautiful blue velvet presentation, along with Elsie's pawprint. We would not have cared what it cost, but their rates are very reasonable. Their warmth and expertise are unforgettable. read more

Going to state the obvious cause I don't know what prices ppl expect to pay and where else and how far they will they travel for their pet. If your having to bring your pet here I'm going to assume they are in dire need and "your vet is enjoying their holiday weekend". Had to recently bring my 16r old dog here and even though he passed they gave him a chance and that's all we could ask for. This is the second pet we had to bring here in the middle of the night on a weekend. All the Vets and their supporting staffs have been great to us and our animals. This recent dog with the amount of patients they had in their emergency area the Vet who worked Memorial Day noonish took the time to come send our fur kid to the rainbow bridge in peace. Just wanted to thank you to that Vet and the staff who worked Memorial Day weekend. I know it's a thankless job at times but I wanted to say I appreciate this vet clinic for the two unfortunate times our dogs have had to come in. read more

Wish I could've rated minus 10 , a terrible place , lack of concern , compassion and sense of emergency . My animal was in grave condition and I was made to wait for 45 minutes , then the tech came out and insisted he walk , I wanted to leave but prayed the doctor would be better , I ask for a gurney for him . I explained that he had earlier started with shaking and a fever ,symptoms just seemed to come out of nowhere and he was rapidly declining , I was so Scared that my pet was dying . I didn't want to leave and waste time looking for another doctor I was led to believe this was a emergency hospital , after hours of suffering they sent him home with a 105 temp. I questioned them and was very upset with them , I was told he was on pain meds , no real diagnosis , but they gave him antibiotics , I couldn't believe this ! I left and was told he would be drowsy but he got worse and a few hours later I took him to another doctor in Fairfax . He was in shock now ,with a raging over 105 fever and very unstable , he was stabilized long enough for a few minutes and I told him bye ,he died on his own . NO I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ! Keep a number for pet emergency's and always be prepared but don't keep the number of this place , find recommendations from friends maybe , please NO PET OR OWNER should ever go through this ! This is my opinion from a PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ! read more

The PLACE OF HELL !!! I don't recommend this for anyone it's a waste of time and money and it will cost you your pets life the whole place is a scam!!!! The staff are heartless and don't show no empathy for no one they were rude and had an attitude towards me for no reason. I drove an hour to that place with my sick pet, I told them what my pet had and still had to wait 2 hours then finally they came to talk to me they were basically telling me " if you don't pay this amount you should just kill your pet" the dr that work that night was sooo rude and heartless and she didn't give a damn about my pet , they didn't do nothing for my pet they just locked him up to watch him suffer !!!! That whole place made me uncomfortable they were racist towards me and said some awful things to me they discriminate against black people !!! I wish I never went there I don't trust them with my pet the whole place gave off negative energy and vibes . Please don't go here you will get treated soo badly. My dog almost died! Traveling from NH to Myrtle Beach and spent the night at a local hotel. Walking Bode about 7:30 he suddenly started stumbling, whining with pupils widely dilated. We rushed him to this emergency center arriving about 8:15. I carried him in and he was taken to the vet for examination. Within five minutes the tech returned with him and asked if he could have been exposed to marijuana. I told her not to my knowledge and explained we were traveling. She, the tech, put us in a dark exam room to wait. Over the next 3 1/2 hours we continually approached the receptionist to find out what was going on. She kept saying we were next in line. Finally at midnight having never seen the vet or even a tech, we left. Bode seemed somewhat better and slept the night. The next morning he got much worse. We rushed him to a veterinarian in Rocky Mount, NC who immediately did blood work and began giving Bode fluids. Bode had elevated liver levels, heart rate of 50-60 and was badly dehydrated. He felt that Bode had ingested some kind of medication but not marijuana as too much time had passed and he was still under the influence of something. Since TO MUCH TIME HAD PASSED he couldn't induce vomiting and hoped fluids would flush his system. From there we brought Bode to the Myrtle Beach Vet hospital where they repeated the blood work and continued the fluids overnight. Bode was improved the next morning. The vet at Virginia Veterinary Center correctly guessed Bode had ingested something poisonous. Some kind of drug. And then left us in a dark exam room for 3 1/2 hours with out even checking. Both other emergency hospitals stated given the circumstances they would have induced vomiting. The vet or a tech could have given something to induce vomiting in just minutes. Instead Bode was left for someone else to save his life. read more

We have had to bring our 11 YO cockapoo there a couple of times in the past 6 mo.s as emergencies after 5 PM. They are busy but luckily they were able to see be seen both times (recommend you call ahead, or on your way - they may send you to another facility). We are very satisfied with the facility (cleanliness, noise, etc.), hours & wonderful, trained staff. Second time was a dire emergency as he had a cluster of 5 GM seizures (already on meds for 10 yr.s) but this was the worse break through episode ever. He went into congestive heart failure and his lungs filled w/fluid. His breaths per min. were crazy high & his blood oxygen saturation level was dangerously low (panting & blue tongue). We thought he had come to the end of his days. We called to let them know we had a dog in server distress, trouble breathing after bad seizures & rushed to the facility. He responded so well to the oxygen, nebulizer & diuretic treatments we kept him there for 48 hours to recover. Yes it was expensive (multiple x-rays, meds, 24 hr. care, TLC, etc.) but he reacted so positively & turned around quickly we decided to go with it. He is now on heart meds & doing better. A little slower, and we try & keep him from stressful or overly excited situations (like long car rides or greeting his owner.) But he is with us for a while longer. I brought my puppy in with possible pneumonia. By the suggestion of the doctor, we had him stay for 24 hours. After 24 hours there, it was clear to me that I could take better care of him at home. The doctor knew I would be taking him home after 24 hours as that was my financial limit at the cost of $2000 a day. My dog was pretty critical, but I was prepared to care for him at home with oxygen therapy and nebulization. Given his critical status, not one single person from the office called to check on him 48 hours out, which I happen to know is protocol. In addition, after confirming with several other people, I am aware that they greatly inflated their prices given our situation. In fact, one single measurement of pulse oximetry was charged to us at the rate of $67.00. They knew my limit was $2000. Ironically, 2 separate charges to my account equaling exactly $2000.50. Shame on you all! Taking advantage of people that are just caring for their animals! read more
