Clean, convenient visitor's center in Lambsburg, VA! This center is definitely welcoming. It offers helpful information, ample parking, and clean restrooms.

One of the nicer and cleaner welcome centers you'll go to. Beautiful layout with easy accessibility to all the amenities. Take a stop here and stretch your legs.

A good place to stop for visitors entering Virginia. Virginia has 12 welcome centers stationed strategically at the entrances to the state along the major Interstates. This one is located on the northbound interstate 77 less than a mile from the North Carolina and Virginia border. It is also known as the Lambsburg Rest Area. There is plenty of parking. As you exit the interstate, the car parking (including cars with Trailers) is to the left (closest to the road) and the truck parking is to the right. Cars with trailer parking is just beyond the car parking but could probably also park with the trucks in the back of the site. Two separate buildings are of an older design. One building is for the restrooms and the other serves as their welcome center. There are lots of trees along the site providing lots of shade. They have a large "Love" sign outside on the lawn that many people seem to pose next to for pictures The bathrooms were clean. In the Welcome Center building the people were very friendly and even though it may not be as big as other similar centers there were a lot of maps and "Va is for lovers" on merchandise. It is a nice, pleasant place to stop if you are visiting the area.

Very clean rest area. Vending machines. Nice welcome center. Good place to stop. Ez on ez off. Nice greenery and nice welcome signs outside!

This was my first time stopping at the Virginia Welcome Center and I was impressed! It was nestled between lots of trees and greenery. There was tons of space for walking your dog. They had several covered shelters with built in charcoal grills. It felt more like a park than a rest stop. The restrooms were clean and even had a pleasant smell. A clean restroom can be hard to come by on a 12 hour road trip lol! They had several vending machines with snacks and sodas outside under a covered shelter. My dog and I enjoyed a nice walk. He used the restroom while I enjoyed being out of my car for a few minutes of stretching. This was a very busy rest stop. There were many other dog owners taking advantage of the lovely grounds. I will absolutely stop here again when making the long trip to my parents in Ohio!

    VERY clean rest area !!!

We were wrapping up our 12 day, 3,500 mile road trip through the SE, when we stopped at this Rest Area on NB I-77, just inside Virginia from N. Carolina. Folks, this was the cleanest Rest Area we'd stopped at since leaving Iowa. As luck would have it, we even spotted a man wearing an official vest, figured he was a caretaker, and we were right! The gentleman's name was Todd, and I sure hope that if any Virginia officials read this review, they extend appreciation to Todd for his hard work. We sure did!

Welcome to Virginia, across the border from North Carolina along I-77. As the sign says, "Virginia is open for business." I think I prefer the old slogan, "Virginia is for lovers" but there isn't as much money in that I guess. Vending machines, bathrooms, parking.

Nice rest area with a romantic Love sign. The restrooms are clean, there are some picnic tables outside in case you want to have a picnic, there's a small visitor center and if you get there before 5 pm they give away free virginia stickers. (At least today they were doing that).

Great trail for walking, running, walking the dogs or riding a bike. The Old Salem section of the Strollway is a 5 star. The trail takes you right past Old Salem. You will pass right by the Old Salem Visitors Center and the Heritage Bridge. You can cross over the street using the bridge and visit Old Salem if you like. The trail in this section is wide enough for all people coming and going. If you follow the Strollway south you will end up at the Greenway, which you can take to Winston-Salem State or Salem Lake to the west, or Washington Park to the east, but that is another review. You do have to cross over a busy street (Salem Avenue) but there is a nice wine shop on the other side. The northern route past Old Salem takes you to downtown and ends at 4th Street. This takes you under Business 40 and past Corpening Plaza park. Nice part of this section is you end up right into the heart of all of the downtown restaurants on 4th Street. This section requires crossing 3 streets in downtown. The only reason I don't have the Strollway rated 5 stars is the section running under Business 40 can be a little sketchy. This will change after the Business 40 renovations are completed.

We learned how to make the Negroni cocktail and they took time to teach the flaming orange. Including a lot of interesting history and information about the spirits. Worth the time and money. *they did ask if anyone is dry, but not sure what they offer in lieu of the cocktails or wine.

Ned provided us with great information about the history of the town, the railroad (although some of that was incorrect as he kept saying Raleigh instead of Norfolk as it pertained to the railroad and it kept saying that one of the railway companies "left" when in fact, they were merged. Maybe this wouldn't have mattered so much except someone in our group was very familiar with the railroad) But Ned was very personable and you could tell he loved history and as we do too we really enjoyed his tour. The food on the tour was fairly varied and unique to the town (a must!) and it was great to hear the back story of the ownership of the restaurants. (I was a little worried when at the first two restaurants we were served seafood dishes, a seafood bisque and shrimp and grits as one person in our group doesn't really like seafood and I think this is a risky choice for a tour. Also at Chocolate Paper we were given two mediocre Asher chocolates to try instead of some of their more expensive and more delicious Debrands chocolates.) One person in our group thought there wasn't enough food and thought another restaurant or two should be added. I tend to agree when compared to the cost of this tour against other tours I've taken. Had the cost been a little lower I think the amount of food would've been fine. All in all, a great tour though. Ned really was a great guide, I hope he leads more tours, I really learned a lot!

He drove us from Boone NC to DC to NYC and then 80% of our return trip back to Boone NC. Due to federal regulations we had to get a relief driver to finish our trip. And that's where the concerns began. Phillip our relief driver was just plain dangerous and at times was driving more than 15 MPH over the posted speed limit. His driving was erratic and jerky. We mentioned to him several times that the police liked to patrol the area he was in and that since he was clearly speeding it wasn't going to have a good outcome. When we arrived at our final destination all of our participants had to remain seated and on the bus so he could go to the back and use the restroom. We all just wanted away from him! His actions were extremely dangerous for everyone aboard. He has no business driving a tour bus.

This park honors a long heritage, that laid the foundation that predates both Winston and Salem, now Winston-Salem. This public park hosts several festivals a year. And it hosts outdoors summer concerts that can be held under a open air shelter. Great for families and peoples or all ages and their pets. Nice and flat for strolling. The grounds houses structures and reconstructed structures from the original settlement back to 1753. Several of the structures house demonstrations for the living skills needed back then: food production, black smithing, etc. A modern welcome center has a model reproduction of the center and is a sort of mini museum.
