Highlights - Great place to walk, run, bike or walk your…read moredogs - Restaurants and places to get a drink are not far off the Strollway - Old Salem section is great - Runs from 4th Street to the Greenway The Downtown Strollway runs from Salem Avenue, past Old Salem and into downtown, ending (or beginning) on 4th Street. Great trail for walking, running, walking the dogs or riding a bike. The Old Salem section of the Strollway is a 5 star. The trail takes you right past Old Salem. You will pass right by the Old Salem Visitors Center and the Heritage Bridge. You can cross over the street using the bridge and visit Old Salem if you like. The trail in this section is wide enough for all people coming and going. If you follow the Strollway south you will end up at the Greenway, which you can take to Winston-Salem State or Salem Lake to the west, or Washington Park to the east, but that is another review. You do have to cross over a busy street (Salem Avenue) but there is a nice wine shop on the other side. The northern route past Old Salem takes you to downtown and ends at 4th Street. This takes you under Business 40 and past Corpening Plaza park. Nice part of this section is you end up right into the heart of all of the downtown restaurants on 4th Street. This section requires crossing 3 streets in downtown. The only reason I don't have the Strollway rated 5 stars is the section running under Business 40 can be a little sketchy. This will change after the Business 40 renovations are completed.

I went on an NC Grape Escape tour for my birthday, and I highly recommend booking with this local…read morebusiness!! It took me awhile to find an affordable wine tour option in the Piedmont/Yadkin area, and Grape Escape delivered exactly what we were looking for. Our driver, Paula, let us make our own vineyard itinerary. She picked us up at 10am on a Saturday, and we visited five vineyards in the Swan Creek area before returning around 6pm. Paula clearly knew all of the vineyards well and was able to make good recommendations at each place. She was friendly with all of the vineyard staff and helped us get a tasting table at each venue, making it a standout experience. My favorite part about our tour is that all of the wine tastings are included in the tour cost, so you don't have to worry about paying at each place. You pay everything up front, and Paula takes care of the rest! We visited Shadow Springs, Windsor Run, Dobbins Creek, Raffaldini, and Piccione vineyards. Out of the five, I highly recommend incorporating Windsor Run and Piccione into your NC wine tour! I also can't recommend booking with NC Grape Escape enough...they were exactly what we wanted.

It was a relatively short walk with a lot of stops and long pauses to talk. Because it was cold I probably would've preferred a little more walking. It would have been really cool to be able to go inside some of the buildings on the tour instead of just looking from the outside. Another thing that might've helped is for the guide to have printed out pictures of the places or people he talked about to help us all visualize the stories. He did show us a couple pictures on his phone, but I feel like I could've used more. The guide was knowledgeable in answering everyone's questions and he was very friendly. The tour was fun and I enjoyed it.

I had intended to rent an e-bike but they were concerned that my bike rack was not certified to carry the weight of the ebike. They did a search for my rack but could not find it and we agreed we would just rent a regular pedal bike. I appreciate their concern and ability to accommodate my change in bike rentals. I can't say enough about how much fun our family had on our Triad Trolleys ride! Our family…read morerecently booked a trolley ride to transport us to Spencer NC's train museum for the Polar Express experience. We loaded up our whole family of 13, including 5 toddlers and we had a BLAST! The Trolley has been beautifully restored and incredibly comfortable. The owner, Hal, made sure we had a smooth and fun ride, playing Christmas music and making sure we were all having a fun time. He spent time with the kids showing them how different parts of the trolley worked and let them ring the bell. The excitement of riding the trolley honestly was as much fun if not more fun than the actual train ride to follow. We had such a wonderful time that we hired them again to take our family through Tanglewood's festival of lights. I can't imagine us going through the light show in any other way. Hal made sure to point out all of the displays that he knew the kids would enjoy. He also knew a great deal about the history of Tanglewood and shared a ton of interesting facts about how the park has changed over the years. The memories create on both of these rides will be cherished by our entire family and so happy we made the decision to go with Triad Trolleys! If you are looking for a fun way of exploring the Triad area or simply for a fun night out, I cannot begin to recommend enough renting one of their trolleys for your adventure! We will be using their services again and again!

It was quite fun to try the food that was a representation of what they would have eaten during that time period and see it cooked over a fire. It was very delicious too! The staff was so friendly and genuinely happy to answer any questions and include us in the process. I admired their authentic outfits too, it was like being transported back in time. The grounds are beautiful and the walking trails go much further than I had anticipated. There is also a creek in one section of the park, which is a peaceful place to cool off on a summer day and also a great place for kids to explore freely. I have not personally been to one of their festivals but have heard nothing but good things in regards to them. Overall this is a great FREE place to visit. Friendly staff and clean bathrooms!

This is a wonderful resource for the Winston-Salem and even the Triad region. A direct link to one…read moreof the first if not the first settlers of the area. Religious migration of MORAVIANS from the North Eastern states. And ultimately the MORAVIAN RELIGION hails from Germany from the 1400's. Their church emerged from the Hussite movement, which predated Martin Luther's Reformation by over 50 years. This park honors a long heritage, that laid the foundation that predates both Winston and Salem, now Winston-Salem. This public park hosts several festivals a year. And it hosts outdoors summer concerts that can be held under a open air shelter. Great for families and peoples or all ages and their pets. Nice and flat for strolling. The grounds houses structures and reconstructed structures from the original settlement back to 1753. Several of the structures house demonstrations for the living skills needed back then: food production, black smithing, etc. A modern welcome center has a model reproduction of the center and is a sort of mini museum. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to educate. There are presentations in the center on the history. Nice bathrooms are there also. And a limited # items are available for purchase and I believe funds go to support the park. The main old structure is a house of worship with an organ that dates from very early on. Consider HISTORIC BETHABARA a quicker trip that to say WILLAMSBURG in VA (granted that is larger and more historically important on a National Level) but nonetheless a way to take a quick step back in time. Also consider OLD SALEM a little to the south in Winston-Salem. Another MORIAVIAN SETTLEMENT (really a follow on, since BETHABARA was meant to be temporary whilst SALEM was planned to be permanent). More along the lines of a mini-WILLAMSBURG. With a reopened TAVERN restaurant. And historical sites and demonstrations to experience. And SALEM is the home to the 1st ever official 4TH OF JULY celebration in the Nation. And back to HISTORIC BETHABARA, take a stroll through the vegetable garden housing genetically same fruits and vegetables that were grown back in the 1700's. Salem also has the same type of gardens.
