I paid for a full body scan because I was not feeling right and my doctor could not find anything specific. The facility was comfortable, the attendants made the scan easy, and the doctor's explanations were understandable. Nothing unexpected stood out on the images. Unfortunately, about a month later I was diagnosed with cancer when my symptoms got worse. I did not have any expectations that this was the same as a diagnostic CT and my cancer was not a solid tumor type so I was not surprised nothing was found on the Virtual Physical. However, when deciding on whether to spend such a large amount of money, people should know that this type of scan won't catch certain physical problems. read more

Giving 5 stars for the radiologist and radiology tech who were very patient friendly and efficient. Arrived early and could not access facility until appointment time. Upon entry was attended to immediately. The scans took about 10mins. It was a easy and simple process. As a nurse practitioner, I was extremely pleased with the communication style of the radiologist. He explained everything and validated that I understood everything. Additionally he encouraged me to ask questions. I was not rushed at all. Definitely worth the money as it brought me peace of mind about my health. Will continue with my usual healthcare and return in 5 years for another scan. I was given a disc and copies of the scan. The radiology report will be sent to my doctor and a copy will be sent to me. Worth the time and cost! Glad I took my health in my own hands. Since knowing about cancer, strokes and heart attacks within family and friends, I asked my primary care Doc how would I know if I'll get cancer, stroke and or heart attack. She said keep taking my high blood pressure meds and my annual physical, EKG and lab work would show something. No need for CT scans or additional tests. Mind you my family history all had strokes. Plus you hear about people finding out about cancer at stage 4. I heard a radio advertisement about virtual physical and made an appt. Doctor reviewed my results and recommended that I see a cardiologist and start a Mediterranean diet. My plaque in my arteries were high and I was headed for a stroke. How bizarre when my physicals are normal. Took my scans to a cardiologist. I passed the treadmill stress test and now take statin. After Covid I took my scans to a vascular specialist and he asked about Virtual Physical. He ordered an ultrasound of my left carotid and confirmed the scans that I was going to have a stroke if I didn't do nothing. I had 80% blockage. So I Got cleared for surgery by a different cardiologist which was amazed at my full body scan. He ordered another stress test but with color contrast-dye in my veins. He was puzzled but confirmed it's all genetics. I've never been a fast food junkie, didnt smoke or drink. Looking at me on the outside one would think I'm healthy. Not over weight For a 64 yr old female, I walk/exercise and stay active. I had my carotid surgery done before thanksgiving and I'm recovering well. All thanks to this service. I'm a true example of their advertisement, "see the future and change it." I felt fine but I had two friends in their 40s who got brain cancer, so I decided to do the full body CT scan. I would be dead right now if I had not gone in that day in 2017. Stage 4 cancer, really bad. Immediately started Chemo, then surgery, now ok. If I would have waited even just a few months more, probably would not have made it. Wish I would have done it before it went Stage 4. Follow the suggestion to get it done every two years. Not just once. I got it done in 2012, all good. I felt good, no family history of cancer. I waited too long for the next scan. Be grateful if you spend the money and don't find anything. Also, don't listen to those doctors who don't recommend getting it done. I did an annual comprehensive blood tests while I was on Chemo and my liver was full of tumors (over 20), and the comprehensive blood test showed I was in perfect health. A CT scan should be part of your annual physical but the health insurance companies would fight it. People will use the excuse of the radiation exposure from the CT scan could increase your risk to cancer. I get 4 CT scans a year now, and nobody is concerned about that. Plus, these devices have gotten much better over the years with less radiation exposure. read more

I liked how fast the scan was. Was about 10 mins. Place looks clean. The tech who did my scan (Mike) very friendly and personable. Doctor was very thorough and patient. What I didn't like was the wait from the time the scan was finished to going over my results, but again, he takes his time explaining results to everyone. Overall I had a great experience. read more

I came here for the total body scan with colonoscopy. The office staff was friendly. The radiologist that worked with me was especially wonderful (can't remember her name but she was a nice older lady). I was never kept waiting for too long and the doctor took his time in reviewing my results with me immediately afterwards. The receptionist seemed very frazzled and uncomfortable checking me out but in her defense she was new. She undercharged me $5 and so another staff member had to call me and get my card again later that day. Also I had to call to get my colonoscopy results because after a month I still hadn't heard anything. A different doctor reviews that scan and some reason he just skipped my file completely. It was handled quickly though after my call and I had my results within a day or so. read more

I have had the full-body scan minus colonoscopy in 2005 (age 62), 2010 (age 66), and 2016 (age 73). They were all helpful in having my primary care evaluate the results and referred me to specialists (neurologist, cardiologist, endocrinologist) for actual tests where he thought they were warranted. The scan in 2010 revealed what appeared to be arterial stenosis in the LAD. I was asymptomatic, so that had I not had the scan, I could have suffered a heart attack at some later date. I was referred to a cardiologist who ordered two stents installed. The scan is not predictive of anything; it is only a tool that can serve as a warning of POTENTIAL issues. Everything out of the ordinary needs to be evaluated by an internist who can determine if specific testing is needed by a specialist. read more

For at least a few years now, Virtual Physical has been running their ads on WTOP News Radio. Last year, while I was making up my mind about extending my medical FSA plan at work, I contacted them about their services and their prices. The initial cost is certainly out of my price range out-of-pocket wise ($895 for a full body and heart scan), but with my FSA extension I knew I could handle it. So I made an appointment finally to go there once my new plan was in place. So the appointment was last Thursday. How was it? Better than I expected. Rachael the receptionist was very sweet and helpful. The process was a little uncomfortable, even freaky in that Michael Crichton-ish kind of way - it's like having an open MRI except that you're horizontal, not vertical - but nothing I couldn't handle. Dr. Weinberg, who gave me the post play-by-play of my scans and results and What It All Means, could've been a little less rushed about his explaining what was going on with me, but I could've also taken notes, (note to myself and to you, Dear Reader: be sure to bring a pen and a legal pad next time.) Bottom line: I got good news and I got not-so-good-news, but not the devastatingly bad news I was afraid might've been a possibility. So if the ads do tell the truth about one thing when it comes to having your Virtual Physical done, it's about the "peace-of-mind" factor. At least now I know exactly what's going on with my body and what I need to do to take care of certain things, which is definitely better than not knowing. Unfortunately, Virtual Physical does not accept insurance plans and payment is due upon service. But if you have a plan that will reimburse you for the cost, or you come into enough money to do it, I say go for it! You are absolutely worth it, and keeping track of your physical health is the most important thing you can do. read more

As I was scheduling a scan for my wife I saw these reviews and felt compelled to share my experience. In Dec. of '13 I did both the virtual body scan and virtual colonoscopy and used up flex spending. In hind sight I wouldn't recommend the colonoscopy for the following reason. If something was discovered and a sample was needed it would require you going through another procedure with a traditional colonoscopy. Added cost and oh that preparation time and experience :( My results for that were fine but the virtual body scan saved my life. In a matter of 30 minutes I learned of some known and unknown concerns. Torn rotator cuff, separated shoulder, hiatal hernia and a growth on a kidney. Fast forward 6 months later and I had a radical nephrectomy removing a cancerous kidney. At the time of the scan I had no symptoms. Appointments that followed with my primary and others led to comments where the physician or technician shared their frustration with the anxiety and false positives those who have had the scan endured. While that may be true I pose this question. Aren't we encouraged to get tested as a preventative measure for other things? When my primary stated it is often a waste of money I turned to him and asked, really? Two months prior I had an annual physical and the only concern referenced was to watch my cholesterol. Nice place. I had my heart scan (score of zero, woohoo!) in 2016 and am now going back to have my whole body scanned this Saturday at the reduced price of $745. Woohoo again! Although I should've jumped on the $695 sale in 2017, I still think it's a good deal. I'm VERY excited. And as the other posters have mentioned, the office is clean, non-chaotic and folks are friendly and helpful. It's expensive and uninsured for me but the peace-of-mind afterwards is worth it. What an amazing experience! The office manager was able to get me in quickly and was a pleasure to speak with. There was zero wait and the process fast and painless. The radiology tech made a potentially anxiety provoking process simple by talking with me and explaining everything before it happened. I had a full body scan done a week before my birthday. I go to have it done I noticed some things for improvement. But what stuck out is the copy of the X-ray that was done was blacked out. It covered the main part that I was having a problem with. I reached out to understand why and was told to go to another radiologist. Is this the kind of business that makes up excuses for the services at that price. Very disappointed and betrayed by these people and they won't admit there wrong doing. The procedure and the process itself was fine, and all the people I met with were nice, professional, and helpful. The problems, which are unacceptable when you are paying nearly $1,600 out of pocket, is that they promise "once your Virtual Physical is completed, a Board Certified Radiologist will review it with you,noting any problems that may require further evaluation. You will leave with the Radiologists written analysis, a CD-ROM of your entire Virtual Physical and relevant photographs of your scan" (see brochure, and hear radio ads, web, etc.). This did not happen with the colonoscopy part of the procedure (the one that I primarily went there for). In fact, I was told the Doctor who looks at those was only in on weekends (even though I was there on a Saturday, but they said it would be later that evening) and I would have results mailed to me. Once those results arrived, they were somewhat inconclusive, indicating I may want "direct visualization". There are a number of questions I would like to review with the Radiologist\Doctor based on his typed notes, but was not afforded the opportunity to do so as we never met, as was stated in their ads. It also took over a week to get the even though they say all this will happen once you complete the scan. They did do this with the cardiac and lung portion of the scan, which is another Radiologist, on the same day. That was helpful, but I was told i would be mailed her typed out notes. That never happened, and all I have is illegible writing and shorthand that any reasonable person is not able to decipher. Ironic, I have a typed review for the colonoscopy, but was not provided the review of the scan in person, whereas heart/lung/head/etc., I was given a review of the scan, but no typed, written summary. Lastly, the disk did NOT contain all the scans. This is clearly evident as some of the photographs (which are nothing more than a print out of the scans on a low quality printer) were of images that were not contained on the CD-Rom. What's problematic about that, is the photographs they provide related to potential problems, and then you do not see those scans on the disk, so you are not able to see that scan or all the adjacent scans for another Doctor to have complete information to make the best assessment. I called about that, and was told I would be mailed another CD-Rom, which I have still yet to receive. This is an elective procedure, and you are paying for this information, the fact they would exclude providing key parts of the scan is unacceptable, and frankly actionable. Lastly,, the CD-Rom contains some sort of imaging software that you need to run to view images - not a huge deal, but not the most user-friendly thing either. Again, the procedure, and the woman doing it, I would rate highly, but the review/analysis/consultation/CD-Rom/service, they failed on all these fronts. And despite being told this, have not had any sense of urgency to address it. There are other places that do scans, so I would advise you shop around. The office was very tranquil, clean and soothing. They answered all my questions in depth and were very patient with all the questions I had. I loved that after the scan the Radiologist went through my results in detail and it wasn't a rushed process like typical doctor's visits. I do wish the full body scan included arms and legs but it is still a very worthwhile, thorough and valuable scan. It is a great tool that offers a snapshot of one's health at a specific stage in life. Of course this isn't something I would recommend lightly since there is a higher degree of exposure to radiation than targeted scans, x-rays, etc. However, this is far more extensive and detailed so the knowledge gained is worth the exposure, at least from my perspective. If you have health concerns that you feel are being ignored, than this is a great option to get more information on the state of one's well being. The majority of medical "care" is fueled by what insurance allows and requires to justify testing vs actually trying to prevent illness before it gets bad enough to show severe symptoms and irreversible damage. Healthcare is more about reactive "treatment" which just lets someone's health deteriorate and end up costing more money, time and suffering in the long run. This is elective and isn't covered by insurance at all. So it is all out of pocket but for me it offered a piece of mind, which was worth every penny. Do be aware that it might pick up "abnormalities" that are predominantly benign since everyone's body is different. Things grow and change differently for everyone overtime. However, I would still rather know more about my health than have something be a mystery. The scan results serves as evidence of someone's concerns vs just trying to tell a doctor your symptoms. Many doctors are outright dismissive if your pain/suffering isn't a "10" on their "how do you feel today, sad face" scale. I highly recommend this for anyone who is tired of more questions and concerns about their health than answers. It isn't perfect and won't catch every physical health issue but it can be so much better than waiting around for one's health to continue to go downward without any answers. read more

The first time my wife and I came here the experience was great. The staff was friendly and the scan went quick. The consultation with the Radiologist was great. I then flew my mother and sister up to have a body scan done for them. The original appointments had to be changed due the one of the Doctors having a personal health issue..ok understandable. They rescheduled the appointment for 2 days later. We showed up 20 min early but then waited over 2 hours just for the scan then had to wait for the reading. Time management needs to be worked on at virtual physical. The only other issue was at both visits they initially didn't have the discounted rate on our paperwork which should be a simple thing to correctly annotate on patients paperwork. I would highly recommend doing the virtual physical the Doctor consult was outstanding but be prepared to wait longer than they say and get your pricing upfront. My first visit I give 5 stars. I can remember how nervous I was getting my first Virtual Physical. I was so scared they were going to find out I was dying and I just didn't know it yet. Well since that initial reaction I have had 2 Virtual Physicals. One in the Pikesville office (which is no longer there) and one in the Rockville office. The first total body scan I had was a preventative measure. I walked into a beautiful office, the front desk staff was so sweet that my nervousness soon settled. Rebecca the CT tech called my name it was my turn to be scanned. Rebecca saw how nervous I was; my goodness it is crazy how scared I was. She answered all my questions and even offered to get Dr. Nobi if I had any other questions. I said no, I was ready to go. It took less than 10 minutes and I got dressed and had a seat in the waiting room. Chantel the front desk staff asked if I needed anything while a waited and brought me a bottled water. I waited about 25 minutes while the dr. read my scans and then Dr. Nobi called my name, it was my turn. YIKES! Dr. Nobi explained what can and can't be seen in the scan. We literally took a tour of my body all the while Dr. Nobi explaining not only abnormalities in my body but the functions of my organs and how it relates to other organs. Dr. Nobi spent about 45 minutes answering all my questions. When I left I had all my findings on a handwritten report, my calcium score, printed images of any findings and a CD-Rom all to take to my primary care physician. Which brings me to another part of this. My primary care was so against this exam stating "you are looking for problems". Well after he heard about my experience and saw the report and images was so impressed he went and had a virtual physical. The second virtual physical was roughly 6 years later because I was having some serious health concerns and was not getting any answers. So I took it upon myself to have another virtual physical this time in Rockville. Rachel greeted me this time (funny how both offices look exactly the same) asked me if I needed anything before Denise the CT tech in Rockville took me back. Dr. Nobi welcomed me like he was my best friend. He had already compared the previous scan to my new one by the time we sat down. Again, it took about 45 minutes and Dr. Nobi could not have been more forthcoming in all of his answers. He never once told me how my findings would be treated, he says that it my primary care's responsibility to treat. His duty was to find anything going on inside my body where a yearly physical can't see. Thank goodness I went to Virtual physical, while my health issues weren't life threatening they were definitely causing my problems. I now have the tools to take to my primary care and come up with a treatment plan.
