I had the pleasure of coming to this place August 21 for a birthday massage and I can't tell you…read morehow happy I am to have found this place. It's very cozy and welcoming inside and the staff were very polite and cheery which always helps when you're trying out a new place for the first time. My massage was with Kassidy and her hands worked magic. We did a 1hr relaxation massage and it flew by so fast. The room was nice and large, the lighting was perfect, so was the music. Not sure was massage oil she used on me but it smelled amazing and not like your typical peppermint oil most places use. They also accept benefits if you have them. It's very close to the Costco in Sherwood Park and has tons of parking. They follow the COVID protocols and are super clean. August 30- I had the pleasure of coming back to try out some float therapy for me and my partner and it was super cool, both a first for us. The staff did an amazing job of going over everything for us. You're placed in your own single room with your pod, no need for a bathing suit because you go in your birthday suit! You shower and rinse off before going into the pod, they have showers fully stocked with shampoo and body wash. The pod has the options of blue light, multi Color light or no light, it's filled with tons of salt so you float so be warned you will feel slippery and do not get the water on your face or in your eyes (if you do they have a fresh water bottle to spray your face off). TIPS: They will offer you Vaseline to put over any cuts so you aren't stung by the salt water but I HIGHLY recommend you apply that to armpits or any other area you may have just shaved or waxed if you know what I mean. I'd also suggest you put Vaseline on any cracks you have such as eczema. As cool as it was the salt water really irritated my eczema and made my skin itch, also suggest you get the firm ear plugs they'll offer you and not the soft ones as they fell out repeatedly. WISHES: I really wish that the water could have been a tad warm/hotter. Would also be cool if you could do 30 or 45 minute sessions- I know it's an hour so you can meditate and relax but even a 45 min session woulda sufficed. It would also be cool if you had the option to play spa music or a noise machine in your pod to wind down instead of going straight into silence (music will come on 3 minutes before you session is over to let you know you're about to finish).

I was the recipient of an unexpected gift of float by my love, and I have e to say this was an…read moreamazing experience. The lobby has a nice relaxing atmosphere when you come in, and you are offered a pair of freshly cleaned sandles to wear. The attendant was very welcoming and explained the process, as well as offers a iPad that gives details of instructions and a bitnof what you can expect during your visit. The room you are assigned is clean with a fresh towel and ear plugs set aside for you. There is a shower to clean yourself before and after the salt water soak. The salt water soak itself is super relaxing (as long as you are not claustrophobic). It is a fairly large tub, big enough to stretch arms and legs out fully. You have control of the light in the tub, and there is an emergency button for just in case (but doubtful it would be needed). The water is super salty, so you naturally float on the surface, which makes it so you feel completely weightless. If you are into meditation, this is a great place to go for exactly that; as it blocks out all sound and light, which gives you a fully immersive experience of focusing inward. During my float I was able to focus on troubled muscles, and was actually able to relieve a fair amount of aches, just by slowly moving and rotating arms, shoulders, and legs in the water. This was such a great way to become connected to your body, and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely go back in the future.

I approached Body and Soul Spa with high expectations. So when I entered the establishment, on…read moretime, I was directed to the waiting room with some displeasure as the receptionist informed me "Your esthetician will be five or ten minutes so just have a seat." The waiting area was a small room, with an overabundance of armless chairs. The coffee table was strewn with spa brochures and literature, magazines, client forms and a vase of fake flowers. Music was piped in, while a wall mounted television with sound on advertised yet more esthetic services. The effect was inelegant, and less that soothing. Upon entering the treatment room, I was instructed to disrobe and put all of my closes in a small wicker basket laying on the floor. No hangers, no closet, no hooks. A basket on the floor. I was coming from the office and wearing a suit. Thanks a lot. The young lady who would be my esthetician wanted me to pick my own facial. I said I would prefer if she, the professional, would recommend the one that best suited my skin. Without examining my skin or even a closer glance, she immediately directed me to one of the most expensive on their menu, of course! The language in their brochure was generic and almost enigmatic. It was hard to tell why one which promised to "effectively improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles" was any different from another at the same price that would address "anti-aging and hydrating, skin tension and firmness". Both were $139.95! The facial was fine. And by fine, I mean, ok. Not extraordinary, not the best I've ever had. But it was certainly the most expensive. Cramped, messy reception area, a straightforward service and an eye-popping price in a Sherwood Park strip-mall day spa. Will I be back? Not likely.

I booked an appt asking for someone who could do pixies. I came prepared with photos of the cut and…read morecolour I wanted but did NOT get what I asked for. She cut my sides and bangs VERY short, nothing like what I SHOWED her I wanted. I told her I wanted something feminine, hair on the sides I could sweep forward, and even showed her a past photo of when my bangs had been butchered (I told her I feel anxious every time I come to the salon because of awful cuts I've received like it) and she went ahead and cut them too short anyway saying that we would start with that and could always cut them shorter if I wanted. I showed her photos of what I thought was feminine vs young and funky. I did NOT get feminine. (I'm also 50!) I asked that my highlights not be spikey, I showed her a photo with more chunks, but was given spikey - and a copper colour, not the auburn I asked for. I returned a few days later to ask her to shave the sides and back one shorter so there was contrast between the top and sides. I felt the need to talk to her about how upset I was. While talking I told her that I was very disappointed with my cut and that it wasn't what I asked for. She agreed with me that 1) my head was an odd shape now with this cut 2) that it was NOT going to grow out nicely (another thing I told her was important to me and after two weeks it is already sprouting up in odd spots), 3) to keep my cowlick in mind (big hole there now that she agreed was hard to deal with) and 4) I should probably see a barber next time instead of going to a salon because they would be more qualified with a cut like this. With tip (that I absolutely regret paying) I paid over $250 for this. She seemed nervous during the cut, she didn't show me the sides or back with a mirror so I didn't realize how bad it was until I got home, and when you go to pay and the guy at the counter can't muster up a "you look great!" (despite what he thinks), it makes you feel awful. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning. She couldn't even offer the slightest apology.

I received a HORRIBLE service first of all I was not told that the aesthetician will be a student. She started with my manicure with no puffing, cleaning properly the set up was in their locker room so uncomfortable DID not even have lamp or fan to dryer the polish. When it came to pedicure she brought a bucket and I asked if they have lamp for my toes to dry they said no I will have to wait till the polish drys or pay extra $10 to get shellac. I decided not to get pedicure since my nail polish already ruined and I did not have all day to stay there for my nails to be dried. In -15 temperature they suggested me to bring sandlals what kind of business or academy are they running I feel so bad for the students and clients. Front counter staff are the first and last point of contact at an establishment like a hair salon -…read morewhich is exactly why it is CRUCIAL for these staff to be properly trained on how to handle unusual/difficult customer service situations. I find all too often that front counter staff are pretty good at handling the day to day customer service interactions - throw a curve ball at them though, and, more often than not, they completely drop the ball!!! I am currently growing out my hair and only require a trim and some touch ups every 2 months or so. Since I absolutely love the more dramatic cuts and colourings I have received at Roxx, I didn't mind too much coughing up the $65 bucks for a trim to support a business who had been good to me thus far, so after procrastinating for way too long, I decided it was time for a trim. On Friday morning I call them up to book an appointment for 4:45pm that day. I work literally across the street from this place; so by the time I left work at 4:30 and got to Roxx it was 4:32. I checked in (even mentioning that I knew I was a bit early) and then proceeded to take a seat (on the couch right in front of the front counter). At about 4:45 or so, another lady walks in to check in for her appointment. Immediately after she checked in, the stylist I ALWAYS am assigned to comes out, immediately recognizes the woman, and takes her to the back for her appointment. Thinking nothing more of it than it being interesting that I wasn't getting the same stylist as normal, I continued to wait. At 4:55pm (10 mins past my appointment time), I go up to the front counter staff to ask what the delay was - again keeping in mind I am sitting right in front of their faces so it's not like they didn't know I was STILL WAITING! My question "soooo, is the stylist just running a little behind or.....?" took the young lady completely off guard as she immediately agrees with my assumption with a look of bewilderment on her face; "oh yes, just a bit late, shouldn't be more than another 5 mins." I go back to sit, as the same lady walks past me saying "you know what, I am just going to check." She comes back to tell me that it is going to be another 15 20 mins (keeping in mind it is already 15 minutes past my time). At this point it was quite obvious that someone had screwed up somewhere along the line and the appointment scheduled for after me was taken before me. This is not the problem - these things happen and I can understand that (being that I have worked in customer service my entire career so far). The problem is that I am now completely frustrated that you had wasted my time when I would have loved to be anywhere but there on a sunny Friday afternoon. An apology is nice, and she really did seem to feel bad. But here's where it all went wrong: Her: "Would you like to wait?" Me: "No, I think I'm just going to cancel" Her: Ok, would you like to re-book?" Me: "No thank you" Her: "Ok, well sorry about that." Since I am not one to make a scene in these types of situations, I am quietly thinking 'Dammit, now I need to find a new hair salon." Had the nice young lady come clean, told me that they had made mistake, and had she done something to make up for it (discount, no charge for the wash, anything......), I would have said, "yes, I'll wait" or "sure, I guess I'll just re-book for next week." Instead, I will likely not be back. We have all heard the saying that actions speak louder than words; in this case, (im)proper customer service training speaks louder than a fancily decorated salon.
