Thankfully, we were attending a short event. The security was kind and professional about the whole thing and we were all wanded over before entering. The entire venue is very clean and well kept. I will never buy tickets here again . I was so upset when I heard how the staff treated my parents and how Visalia Fox Theatre completely disregarded the needs of my visibly disabled parents . My parents were treated terribly the night of the Amy Grant concert recently. My parents rarely are afforded the opportunity to go out due to chronic pain because of their disabilities . I had purchased tickets for my mom for Christmas due to sentimental reasons . She was very excited , got dressed up and so did my dad who walks with not one but two canes . They took their pain meds and decided to make it a date despite physical barriers . They drove from Hanford to Visalia Fox Theatre. There was no available parking nearby so my dad parked 2 blocks back and hobbled to meet my mom on his two canes for two blocks . Once at the door some young employee tells my mother she can't come in with her backpack purse , meanwhile others are entering inside with purses that didn't have straps . This very young looking employee alerts a " manager " and the manager advances toward my mom with a disgusted expression from what my mom described who by the way is nice to everyone . I'm the mean one when my people are treated badly , but she is not . My mom asks , I dont understand the rationale . How is this purse any different than the other purses other than it has two straps and you can wear it like a backpack? How is that a safety issue in comparison to a regular purse . Both can easily conceal contraband ? I can't walk this far again . I guess I can't go ." The so-called-manager stated " well I guess you can't" in a condescending tone . My handicapped parents hobbled back to their car defeated and were unable to attend the concert that I paid FULL PRICE for in December. They were really sad . You people are monsters ! Close to 150 dollars down the drain . I wonder what Amy Grant would think about how you treated my parents . She is a Christian artist . I was livid when I found out . I was at work while this occurred otherwise your staff would have gotten a very unpleasant phone call from me in real time for how badly they treated my parents . I did call the theatre and I was directed to a voice mail of a woman named Wilamina. She never returned my call ( to my knowledge) No voice mails left . I guess she had better things to do with her time as a manager than manage business relationships with unhappy consumers . Do better Visalia Fox Theatre . My questions for this business are as follows 1. What accommodations do you have in place for ADA laws that accommodate persons with disabilities? Seating ? Parking ? Are your staff educated with ADA laws and what specific training do you provide ? When your staff identified two seniors who were struggling with visible disabilities , were they offered assistance ? 2. How is it that two straps on a purse are more dangerous or threatening than a single strap bag ? Please enlighten me on how there is a greater likelihood of contraband entering the theater with a two strap purse . Brilliant . Your safety measures are superior and sophisticated as are your professional and empathetic staff . On a side note, I've been sharing this experience with some friends . My friend mentioned she attended an event at Hanford Fox theatre a few months ago and was permitted to bring in her backpack purse . read more

It's about the experience! This venue is good for a non-mainstream concert show. Many comedy shows come thru here and do well. Rock and country concerts are another matter entirely. Although security is present they do not enforce seating at all. You may pay for a premium seat but folks are allowed to bounce to the front and down the aisles near the stage and block your view. There is seating only in the orchestra area no pit so essentially folks are on top of you or stealing your purchased premium seat to be near the stage. Quite annoying! Folks are also over served alcohol which makes for an even less pleasant experience when you're getting spilled drinks on you and hit in the head because a drunk girl can't control her swaying hands. I witnessed this and no action by security standing nearby. It's sponsored by Budweiser so expect Bud products. No food only overpriced popcorn to go with the over priced beer, cocktails and wine. One regular sized can of beer is $12. Sometimes it's not about the money you make it's about the customer experience! The Fox theatre in Bakersfield is well managed and a completely more pleasant experience as a concert venue. If you're looking to have a positive time out making great memories then select the Bakersfield Fox theatre over the one in Visalia. read more

I took my mother to Visalia Fox Theatre to see The Beach Boys. We arrived 30 minutes before the show started. We were checked by security, our tickets were scanned, and we were in! The staff we met were helpful and courteous. The lobby was a tight squeeze with people waiting in the concessions line (alcohol was sold outside), browsing the merchandise table, or just chatting it up. Our seats were definitely a snug fit with minimal leg room- thank goodness for intermission. Being such a small theatre most seats come with a good view of the stage. Our seats were under the control booth and the stage light shone right over the tops our heads making it a bit difficult to focus. There was an abundant amount of security which made me feel safe. Not sure how rowdy Beach Boy fans can get, but you never know. I'm glad my hometown has a historic place where young and old can come together to enjoy in the arts, music, and other forms of entertainment. read more

There is no such thing as a bad seat in the Visalia Fox. I have seen three performances here so far and after the first visit I knew I could have the "worst" seat in the house yet still have a perfect view of the stage and performers.The decor inside the building is beautiful and the bathrooms are really clean. I have seen BB King, Anjelah Johnson, and Vince Gill here. I admit they could find more popular acts but in my opinion the shows I have seen booked here are not bad :) read more

The Fox Theatre has to be considered Visalia's most prized cultural landmark. It is the best place in town to take a date if you want a dash of culture. I have been there to see the Tulare County Symphony several times and have not been disappointed. read more

I went and saw Carlos Mencia last night at the Fox Theater. Really like that place reminds me of going and watching the Saturday matinee shows. Mencia was good he performed almost two hours and the warm up acts put on a good show. The theater was great but the staff seemed behind the ball a little bit. People sitting in the balcony with general admission tickets. Makes sense to me. Apparently some of those seats were assigned. No way to know that until after about 20 people sat in the wrong chairs. Other than that good show in our town. Glad there is a facility like this on Main Street USA. read more

Cute little theatre with vintage details and nice acoustics. There doesn't seem to be a bad seat here-it's laid out kind of like an old movie theatre. Security here was so kind and efficient, and were very laid back. There were several fights during the concert that they broke up without being aggressive. My only complaint is that the A/C barely worked-it was so hot in here. The band and audience were all drenched in sweat which was really uncomfortable. Otherwise, a great experience. read more

The Fox Theatre in downtown Visalia is one of many 1930s-era theatres once left for dead and now restored. It's the home of the Tulare County Symphony and the center of downtown Visalia. While the murals and interior may not rival the larger Castro Theatre in San Francisco, the Fox fits nicely onto Main Street and anchors the area surrounding it. Sound and Vision has worked hard to bring national acts to Visalia. The M. Ward concert they booked convinced me to make the drive. Passing the box office to enter the theatre, I saw the murals in the lobby and the plaque recognizing those who donated to the restoration effort. Two older volunteers manned the snack bar. More grandmotherly types should be involved in rock shows. It's not uncommon to see an old guy at a rock show - grey hair pulled back in a ponytail, always ready to talk about how he was at the Fillmore back in '73 when it mattered, man. I never liked that guy. I won't like myself when I become that guy. "Kurt Cobain was a prophet, man. Dance music never changed anything." Another rarity at a rock show - a baby. Bad idea. I'm wearing earplugs to the show. The baby is not... and he's unhappy about it and about a lot of other things. Get a sitter or make peace with your parents so they'll watch the toddler for a night. Unfair to the baby. Unfair to those around the baby. But I digress. The seats at the Fox are restored, not new, so a tall person like myself needs an aisle seat or a couple of stretch breaks. The sound system is good. The bathrooms, as is often the case with art deco buildings have that little lounge before the bathroom where men used to have a smoke while their dates fixed their makeup or their stockings. Always a nice touch. Crowds here are phenomenal. I don't mean that they're standing-room only. They could have easily sold another 100 tickets without anyone noticing. I mean that the audience was very appreciative. They were happy to be out on a Friday night. If you go to a show in San Francisco, you might get a spoiled audience. Half of them are wondering if they went to the right concert that night. They're at the Great American wondering if they should be at Bottom of the Hill. I've been at shows in Los Angeles where more people were in the lobby making the scene than in the venue watching the band. Visalians are not making the scene. They're clapping along with the band. A couple of them are dancing in the aisles. I hope the acts follow the audience's lead. read more

This theatre is actually really nice. The staff is very friendly, the bathrooms are really clean, and I loved the decore.. lol. I was in the upper balcony (center) and I could see the artist (Aaron Lewis) just fine. Sound sounded great and the lights around u were nice And low. Beautiful sound quality. Good seating. All the charm of a CA Fox theater, yet they seem to have made some upgrades and thought about what is really important. Sound is always on point, even when an inexperienced or disingenuous sound engineer is in charge. Seating is comfortable and while a little broken down, updated in the last century. Came for the Heart concert and was almost kicked out due to me standing and ppl complaining behind me not able to see stage...I'm 4' 10" and bought my ticket like everyone else. Don't understand why I was to be kicked out but will NOT be coming here again! Get it together Fox Theater...Everyone short or tall should be able to enjoy shows together!!! read more
