I recently hosted a birthday party here, and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations. For a venue that is more expensive than other options, the value simply isn't there. ​Here are the main issues we encountered: ​1) Strict "No Outside Food" Policy vs. Actual Food Provided: Their website explicitly discourages outside food, stating, "As our parties include plenty of food for the kiddos... outside food is unnecessary and discouraged." Because of this, we trusted them and didn't bring extra snacks. However, the actual food took quite a long time to prepare, and the only snack provided in the meantime was a single small bowl of pretzels per table. The kids were absolutely starving. When one table finished theirs, a staff member brought out more pretzels seeing they were hungry--only for him to find out after that they were strictly limited to one bowl, and the employee simply hadn't known the rule. When the other table ran out they weren't allowed to get extra pretzels! ​2) We paid an extra $37 for premixed lemonade (which tasted like a standard powder mix). The kids were restricted to just one small cup each. They were still thirsty afterward, but they were cut off from the lemonade and could only get tap water after that. ​3) This is a cooking environment where the kids are constantly using their hands to handle food. I fully expected the very first step of the party would be to make sure the kids washed their hands. Shockingly, not once did the staff line the kids up or instruct them to wash their hands before they started preparing and touching the ingredients. 4) We wanted to have an ice cream cake and they were unwilling to let us borrow freezer space for a small cake, stating that they did not have room. We know other cooking venues allow this and allowed an even bigger sheet cake. So were surprised that this cooking venue wouldn't have space in the freezer for a small ice cream cake. It was just an inconvenience as we had to go get the cake during the party. ​5) To top it off, the tip must be paid fully in advance. read more

I took a cooking class here focused on Spanish paella, and it was such a fun experience! The instructor and assistants were clearly knowledgeable, attentive, and made the evening really enjoyable. I went with friends and we had a great time cooking together. The portion sizes were super generous; we made tons of baked chorizo croquetas, devoured our entire paella, and still had plenty of lemon ricotta cheesecake left over to take home. Just a heads-up: the class ran from 7:30 to 9:30, so dinner ends up being on the later side. As a date night spot, this is a pretty below average experience for what you pay for. My wife and I did the Mexican Fiesta night. I think it should be specifically noted that when they say you share a station with another couple, you literally share everything. This means you only get to do half the cooking (at most!). It also means another amateur cooking couple is responsible for cooking half your food! $85pp when you learn good skills, have fun with your partner, and make a meal is reasonable. Having a random couple be responsible for your meal and have their hands in (literally in) your food is insane for this price. I feel incredibly fortunate that we were with such a friendly couple. Unfortunately another couple in class wasn't and they ended up storming out an half and a half in! The class was also just not very well organized. They had us hand make 10 corn tortillas, and cook them in a pan. 4 minutes each tortilla. I'm no math wizard, but even I can figure out 40 minutes of flipping a corn tortillas isn't going to work. Because of this they rushed a lot of stuff - no one at the table heard the pico or guac recipe so we were asking on the fly trying to figure it out. The chef also did not roam the room willing to help us at all - you literally watch him do a 5-10 minute demo upfront and hope for the best. The tacos, I will say, were delicious! I'm a full-time single parent. I had a lot of help when he was younger every time I would need to travel for work. I still do, but it requires a different level of worry and coordination. Now that he's older I have to pay attention to his homework more, what goes on at school, his thoughts/feelings, and not let an electronic device raise him and the likes. He will always be my baby though I know he is getting older. He's not a teen yet, but almost. I'm thankful that he still wants to do things w/ me. I found something to do that looks fun and engaging. We were lucky to still be able to register. It was a full house that day. The registration was roughly $55. The session we chose was Caregiver and Me Cooking Class - Gingerbread House Decorating. It's an hour-long session. They provided a pre-built gingerbread house. The session was about decorating it. They provided all sorts of candy and gummies for the kids to get creative. I It was tough not eating the candy and it was tough as a parent to not try to take over. I let Gavin do what he wanted w/ suggestions. He was the oldest there. That fact alone means his gingerbread house needs to look the tidiest, if not symmetrical. Asymmetry would also be nice as well, but we did not take that route. The kitchen was clean. They served water and hot cocoa w/ marshmallows and homemade whipped cream. I thought that it was a nice touch. Checking in was painless and completing the session was painless as well. Since we finished first, our gingerbread was the first to get wrapped. It only took a few minutes. Gavin and I had a great time. I had the awesome experience of going to Taste Buds Kitchen, which my fiancés dad gifted us and I could not be more happy! We went in for Thai Night cooking class and were quickly seated and given warm yummy bread with seasoned olive oil. We got some water and sat down to go through our cooking class! The instructor was Italian and was absolutely the most helpful. We made the following: * pineapple chicken skewers - this was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I loved the sweetness of the pineapple with the savory chicken! * pad Thai with tofu - this was also plentiful and flavorful * veggie spring rolls - talk about healthy and delicious, this also came with a coconut curry sauce and was really yummy. I loved how healthy it was and the crunch of the vegetables Overall the food was plentiful and yummy. We ended up taking leftovers home also which was awesome! Hosted a birthday party here yesterday for 12 kids. Everyone had a great time baking up cupcakes and the instructors were patient and kind with the kids. This location is only 8 minutes from our house so super convenient. Love that we had the entire space for our party and we were able to bring in food for dinner. Taste Buds Kitchen has a nice, clean, bright and spacious area to cook in. TBK is located right next to F45 Training and there is plenty of available parking. Belinda was running the classes I've attended and taught the classes with easy to follow instructions. She had a few helpers that would walk around to make sure everyone was helped (if needed) and also to clean up after each recipe step (if it gets messy). I liked how clean they kept it. The "messy" kitchen doesn't really stay messy here. While we waited for our foods to bake/cook Belinda would read a short story to the kids. The classes I've attended with my daughter were for kids ages 2-8 with a caregiver, but I felt like the age group can probably be adjusted to 2-6. We went to TBK 3 different times and made donuts, cake pops and lasagna. You would share the table with 3-4 other kids & parents. My daughter is 8 and was one of the older kids in these classes. She found everything very easy to do and everything she made turned out pretty tasty. Recipes were also shared with us so we can make it at home. Since we attended morning classes I've noticed that it is sometimes hard to hear Belinda since the music from next door (F45 Training) was so loud. read more

Had a corporate event here with my team and it was a lot of fun! We did the rustic italian competition and got to make cannolis, chicken parm, and mushroom risotto. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and contributed a lot to the fun! Everything was very clean and organized and everyone seemed to have a great time. Came here for our first cooking class to celebrate a 5 year old's birthday. This place has a great concept! There were roughly ~10 kids in attendance and the staff walked them through how to make their own pizza and decorate their own cupcakes. Candidly speaking, I had a toddler that was participating and unfortunately toddler attention spans are extremely limited so he spent most of the time running around being distracted by everything else versus actively participating in the cooking class. The staff was great though in being patient with him and giving him some coloring books to distract him. All the food is made from scratch and you could taste the quality of it - the pizzas came out delicious. The cupcakes were made ahead of time but the kids got a chance to decorate it with "sand" and a starfish topper. My son greatly enjoyed downing his treat! read more

We have hosted two birthday parties now at Taste Buds and both have been wonderful and stress-free. You literally just show up at your own party time and have fun. No set up really required. No cleanup! The staff are always great with the kids and know how to keep even the smaller little ones engaged. The kitchen is also super clean and parking is very easy. We got positive feedback from the guests, and we all had a good time! The only reason why this place isn't 5 stars for me is that the cancellation/change policy is very strict. That being said, the policies at Taste Buds is on par with most other party venues that I've seen, so I booked it knowing it might be a bit of a gamble. Basically when you book your party date, you just have to cross your fingers your little germ magnets (I mean kids) don't come down with a bug before their party otherwise you might lose out on a big chunk of change. read more

I don't normally give 5 stars for any reviews. But Chef Belinda and the other chefs earned all of them. The facility is brightly and cleanly setup. All the sanitary procedures are in place. No shortcuts are taken. Making a Florentine Hollandaise brunch with homemade cheese biscuits and cinnamon nutmeg French toast and maple chili bacon with my 8, 12 year old is no simple feat. After taking a cupcake class last year, my daughter wanted to come back and make sprinkle donuts. As previous reviews state, the facility is bright and clean with ample room for parents and kids (we had 10 guests + chaperones). Booking the party was easily done online. Belinda and team were super friendly and let us bring individually packed lunches for all our guests (parents and kids) as well as beverages. It made it easy that TBK was able to supply all utensils. From the parents POV: When the class started, Belinda instructed parents to sit back and relax while she and her staff covered all the instructions and helped the small kids with all the mixing, pouring, dipping, etc. A couple of parents went on a walk for some coffee, others sat & chatted while others (me) others didn't know what to do with themselves. I thought we would have to step in to help our little ones more, but the staff took care of everything! From the kids POV: Mixing! Pouring! Creating! They all had so much fun creating their donuts. No one ever went to their parent to say they were bored (win!). We booked an 11 AM slot and paid for extra time to allow our guests time to participate, eat lunch and leave without feeling rushed. I highly recommend booking the extra time. Belinda and team took care of everything and this was the least stressful birthday party we've booked. We'll be back! PS. The donuts were GOOD. I scheduled a one day camp at this location. We had an emergency that was out of my control with my daughter having bronchitis. We went to Kaiser yesterday her oxygen levels were low so they had to keep us there for hours. I was unable to call and reschedule camp since it was a last minute emergency and I was at Kaiser yesterday and back today. I had a free moment to call today and let them know what was going on and if I can reschedule the missed camp class. The general manager Joseline was not helpful at all and didn't care that we had an emergency. I asked to speak with Belinda so I can explain to her and she just said I'm the general manager and there is nothing we can do. I understand every company has policies so people don't take advantage. As a business owner myself we have policies too, but are always open to adjust them for people in emergency cases and situations. I even offered to have Kaiser give a note. She was not trying to hear anything and also sent me an email after we hung up with the cancellation policy. Very rude that all she cared about was making it clear that they would not reschedule for us. The email was super dry and not even sympathetic to my daughter being really sick. I use to be a loyal customer to this place. We have had multiple birthday parties here. I even refer people here all the time, BUT now I would never come here again or refer anyone to this place. Keep my $180 but you lost a loyal customer. UPDATE owner called and emailed me back. I honestly think because of my yelp review I got a response and she offered to give me a credit for half of what I paid. Do I think it's sincere? NO read the owners email & Sign up at your own risk. I can't believe she said I can send someone else in my kids place. I was planning on taking them, so I wouldn't have had time to send some else. We pulled our child from her week long summer camp yesterday. Only one out of six staff members were masked. Meanwhile kids began showing up with their KN95 and KF94 masks, and they packed them in with no social distancing. There was no window in the building to open, and the door was closed. There was no way to ventilate the class at all. There were no signs of filtration either. It was way to dangerous for these children and their families with Covid numbers super high right now. They did not offer to refund our money, nor did they offer to mask up. It was so disappointing. It was neither safe, nor was it a good look to have a bunch of little kids in protective masks with staff unmasked. read more

My child had the birthday party there recently and everyone loved it. The facility is new, very clean, airy and gets a lot of light due to large windows. The theme was "Pizza Party" and the owner and her helpers did a fantastic job. They divided the guests in smaller groups and each table had their own lead, who was teaching them how to make pizza. At the end, they get to eat the pizza that they made (out of dough that they premade) and they take home the dough that they made. The owner is very easy to work with and very accommodating. You can bring your own food and desert into the facility. I had several guests compliment me about the place and took brochures. They kids enjoyed themselves and so did the parents. read more

This is a bit overdue because of busy teacher life, but I took 2 groups of fifth graders for a math themed cooking field trip and it was a huge hit! Communication leading up to the event was EXCELLENT. Lots of information provided up front, questions professionally answered in detail, food allergies accommodated. I had never done this type of field trip but I felt very reassured. They recommended "Around the World: Mexico" and Belinda and her team rocked it. It was age appropriate; everything was clean, organized, and well-paced. The kids gave mixed reviews on the food, but I expected that. They have different tastes at that age. I had won a gift certificate at their Grand Opening and finally got the chance to get my kiddos into their first cooking class!! The cert was set to expire during these uncertain times, yet the staff was very understanding and gave me a nice extension. Great communication from the beginning and up until class as I was trying to figure which class was best suited for the two of them to be together as they are 11 & almost 7. They just attended the Sliders & Shakes class and were raving about it as soon as I came in to pick them up. Luckily, they had not eaten all of the food as were kind enough to share. Really great tasting food and I'm hoping to get a recipe to mimic at home!! Needless to say, they really had a blast and are wanting to attend another class as soon as possible. The only concern was that although I had registered in advance, when we showed up they had to be squeezed in at a table so that they could be together. What a great experience, we took the Chinese Take Out class and it was such fun and we got to eat our creations which were fantastic.
