There is a large collection of glasses available. Today, I just needed my glasses fixed. I visited 3 other shops (Oakmont, Lens Crafters, and America's Best) the day before I cam back to Verona Eye Care. None of them could fix my glasses, and some even said my glasses were mangled and beyond fixable. They said there was a part missing at the top of my glasses. I was expecting the fixing process to take days, but the receptionist (receptionist! Not the doctor) fixed my glasses within a minute. She was very friendly and all around great. She even did this fix for free! I've had these glasses for years, they are sturdy, and I definitely trust Verona Eye Care to provide high quality glasses at reasonable prices and with great service. The optometrist is efficient. They are closed on Sundays unfortunately. My mother had an iffy experience here once where they recommended she go to Oakmont Eye Care instead (could have been the language barrier). But, this is definitely my go to optometrist. Quick, efficient, friendly, experienced, good with kids. I'll come back for glasses and a checkup anytime I need it.

A pair of glasses that fit my face!!!…read more My last experience buying glasses was from the fancy "boutique" eyewear place in Sq Hill, you know which one I am talking about, the grossly overpriced "Hipster" optical joint. Well, I paid them way too much money and got a pair of glasses that never fit right. I have a narrow nose and they wouldn't stay up no matter what -- as it was a bad fit. 20/20 on the other hand, they directed me to a pair right out of the gate, Columbia (I love Colombia!) frames, uncanny, almost like magic, these glasses fit like a glove. Here's my story. I've been getting glasses from him for a while and the assistant mentioned daily wear contacts. So I made an appointment to try them out (when I last wore contacts, daily wear contacts had just come out and cost a fortune, now they are pretty darn cheap!). I wore them, but I had some of the eye-drying problems I had before at work (I'm a software engineer...I stare at a screen all day). So I borrowed a friends "computer glasses" (yellow tinted, with a +0.25 magnification) and they helped. Being scientific minded, I wanted to see if unmagnified, untinted glasses were just as good. So I borrowed a pair of their display glasses to try it out. When I went back to return the display glasses, I showed the glasses to Dr. Ross and he measured them to show their magnification (I didn't know before). In addition, he's letting me try a variety of contacts to see if some work better for me than others. Any eye doctor can do the job, I'm sure, but Dr. Ross does it well!

The office is very small, which is fine but seriously limits space and selection of lenses. Lastly, I have eye insurance that doesn't cover much and the optometrist wrote for an expensive medication instead of telling me there is a much cheaper identical equivalent of the benign medication that I should have been prescribed instead to begin with. I had to research myself to find out that the medications have the same mechanism of action but one costs much less. More importantly they should tell their patients about medication options instead of living in fear. Despite me taking the medication for years without doctor or insurance issue, the optometrist was too scared she'd get in trouble if she wrote for the less expensive medication. So I unfortunately ended up finding out this optometrist is against continuity of care out of fear that prescribing the less expensive med (which treats the exact same thing) wouldn't be covered as medically necessary and get her in trouble. Lesson learned, seen an ophthalmologist. People are terrified to prescribe the most innocuous medications these days. It's infuriating to have to hunt for confident prescribers. This is unfortunately not uncommon to find prescribers too scared to do their jobs, but it's completely unfounded and puts more work and cost on the patient.

I got to the office and i waited about 5 minutes and a nurse took me immediately. The nurse took my stats and medical history. Then another Dr came in and gave me an eye exam and checked for eye problems. There was a little waite between the two doctors but not to bad. Dr Marshall was super friendly and very nice and helpful. The visit was a complete success and educational as well. My only negative is that I choose to go to St Margrets Hospital where his office is. The parking is terrible and it took me about 15 minutes to get a spot also they charge $4 for parking. Other than that I would highly recommend Dr Marshal for your eye needs. I will definitely go back again.

When the doctor saw me, he was highly energetic and quick with the exam. He also said that there was nothing wrong with my eyes (I have a vitreous detachment), that I do not have astigmatism and said that my previous prescription for contacts was too high. He gave me an -8.50 for both eyes. My left eye is normally a -9.50 and I believe my right is a -9.25. When I put in these contacts at home, I was severely disoriented and my eyes had trouble focusing. I also was getting a major headache, so I took them out. Today, I tried wearing contacts again using my old prescription in my left eye and his prescription in my right. No major issues, but he was convinced my eyes do not have astigmatism and should be at a lower power. Not sure what to say except that he made it seem like every eye doctor from my past was stupid and he was not. He did say "do you want to get a second opinion?" but if you know anything about insurance, you don't get that second opinion without paying for it out of pocket. I'm glad I didn't purchase contacts from him.

I had a emergency situation they took me straight back to the doctor. I felt at ease. He was very good. Concerned, no joke. Got me all taken care off. I came back for my appointment about my glasses. I was able to choose from a wonderful selection. Jazz and Val, all the staff and doctors made sure I was pleased with my selection. I highly recommend them.

My actual visit experience was good, but when the bill came after insurance, that is another…read morematter. I purchased two pair of glasses and questioned how much is this going to cost me, Dr. House said that I had good insurance which gives discounts to second pairs. After I received the bill for the glasses, $465, I called my insurance company for the EOB details. First of all, they said they do not give discounts for second pairs. Then it turns out that on the pair that was being covered, only $45 of the almost $200 frames was paid. When I questioned why only $45 when my coverage allows for $100. I was told that was $100 retail value. That means that the frames that Dr. House was charging for almost $200, only had a retail value of $45. Which means they are only worth $45. What do you think about that? All in all, for the good insurance that Dr. House said I had, they paid $89 and I owe $465. Sounds pretty good to me, right? NOT I will chalk this one up to lessons learned. I won't fall for this again.
