Dr. Gandel is incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, and has that rare combination of "knows his stuff" and actually makes you feel comfortable while doing it. Great bedside manner, takes his time, and genuinely cares about getting it right. Off-the-charts excellent. Then there's Stacy, who is patient, personable, and makes sure every detail is handled correctly. You never feel rushed, and you always feel taken care of. Marie at the front desk? Efficient, friendly, and always wearing a smile. If customer service were a sport, she'd have a championship ring by now. And Sophia is an up and coming star! On the glasses side of the world, Mitch and Ira have been constants for as long as I've been coming here. Mitch, especially, has a gift for steering me toward frames that actually fit my face and my personality. That alone is worth its weight in gold (or at least in anti-reflective coating). I've been coming here for years and fully plan on coming here for many more. The doctor is outstanding. The staff is spectacular. The service is next level. Top notch service and staff. I had an sport eye injury (Pickleball) that was quite serious. Dr. Gendal saw me right away and treated me every day for 21 days ... some days in his office, and some days via photos that I sent to him (while he was on vacation!) ... I feel that my successful recovery was very much a part of his staffs concern and Dr. Gendal's knowledge and caring. Bottom line ... great staff and office ... Everything about vision world was great and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. I was able to schedule an appointment for my husband hassle free and quickly on the day and time we wanted. When we got there the place was bustling and there wasn't a long wait at all. My husband enjoyed his time with the doctor who he thought was caring and listened to his needs. He was in and out quickly. The gentlemen who helped him pick out frames also did an amazing job showing him several options until he found the ones he wanted and respected our budget! The glasses were ready just as promised, in a week and picking them up was a breeze. They even gave him a little bag of goodies, a case, wipe, and spray! We have used Vision World since it was in the TamOShanter Plaza in North Lauderdale. We stopped for the last several years as the business changed and the office employees didn't seem as dedicated to clients and their appointments. Visited this morning on Saturday and met with the newest eye doctor. It was refreshing to see someone so dedicated to his profession and clients. He offered new technology in contact lenses as well as imaging the eyes. Found my contacts cheaper at multiple online sites. Called to see if they will offer price match, discount, or free extra pair. Unfortunately nope ... so we need to buy elsewhere. The new multifocal lenses are quite expensive compared to past versions. I left impressed with the business and they will likely now regain the entire families relationship too. It's nice to feel valued and recognized with the best a business can offer. Might not be cheap, or even less expensive, but appears to be worth any small premium. read more

TL:DR - amazing office staff, appointments anytime, great doctors who listen and care, unique and large selection of frames made on-premises by skillful opticians. If you have dry eyes, go see them today! _________________________ I've been putting off going to see a doctor for my severely dry eyes for far too long and with my new insurance plan I had no idea who to go see. After checking reviews on Optometrists in my area, I had to give Vision World a try. When I called to make an appointment, Stacey was so nice. Stacey asked what day and time I wanted to come in and I asked what the first available was. She told me whenever was good for me. This short circuited my brain and I was silent for a few seconds, because what doctor's office ever gives you the option of choosing when you want to come in and has that time available? Typically when you try to make an appointment with a doctor, it's two weeks out, at an inconvenient time. Not at Vision World!! Pick your day, pick your time! How awesome is that? When I walked in I was surprised at how small the office is. I quickly learned that that small space contains the latest in ophthalmological devices and technology, tons of frames, and an on-premises lens crafting lab, a great office staff, fantastic opticians and personable, caring doctors that listen. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Marie helped me get checked in. I had already printed out my paperwork from their website and filled it out before I came in. The paperwork is minimal. You don't have 10 pages to fill out, just 2. My wait to be seen was short, just a few minutes and it was a busy afternoon. All my preliminary tests went fast and it was another short wait to see a doctor. Dr. Gendal is so friendly and easy going. He immediately puts me at ease and seemed to take a personal interest in me and why I was there. When I talked to him about my severely dry eyes, he in turned talked about eye health as a holistic (whole body) health which made a lot of sense to me. Dr. Gendal gave me several options in my treatment plan, including a non-medication regimen. I appreciate a doctor that doesn't push medications on me when there are other possibilities that might work. While it turns out that I don't need glasses to see, part of keeping my eyes healthy and lubricated is now using special glasses that reduce blue light which radiates from technological devices like computer monitors, tablets, phones and yes even televisions. My job requires that I stare at a computer monitor all day, then I am on a computer at home or reading on my tablet. Ira, one of the Opticians, was very nice and helpful with guiding me in choosing frames that look good with my face shape and fit well. He also gave me a discount on my glasses and I ended up spending much less than I thought I would! The special Eyezen lenses and the technology-specific prescription that Dr. Gendal prescribed for me are truly amazing. The cleaning and heat therapy that Dr. Gendal recommended cleared up about 50% of my eye dryness. When I received my new glasses, they cleared up the rest of the dryness without medication. My eyes feel miraculously good. I can't believe that a few minor changes in habits, a couple of additions to my daily routine and great glasses fixed the issue completely and my eyes were severely, painfully dry! I love the glasses so much that I went and ordered another pair from Ira! Maria was so incredibly patient and helpful with figuring out my insurance and getting me checked out quickly. This was by far the worst optometry experience I have ever dealt with. It all started when my wife and I entered the office. We stood at the front desk for 5 minutes while a receptionist was on the phone. She didn't even look up or acknowledge us. Eventually, another staff member came up front, welcomed us, and gave us paperwork to complete. After completing the paperwork, we waited for our exams. Our wait was short and the staff member that checked us was pleasant. She checked our vision and pressure before sending us to the room to meet with the doctor. We both went to the room together to be seen back to back. My wife sat in the chair first to get her eyes checked. Dr. Gendal grabbed my wife's purse off of her lap and handed it to me without asking permission. You don't touch someone's property, particularly something personal like a purse without permission. When putting the device up to my wife's face, he then pulled her mask down instead of asking my wife to adjust her own mask accordingly. Finally, the doctor said he doesn't dilate the eyes of pregnant women. When it was my turn, Dr. Gendal checked my eyes. He then told me he was giving me a magic drop. My wife and I were under the assumption that these were the drops to dilate my pupils for the retinal exam. After giving me the drops, Dr. Gendal mentioned he gave me Lumify eye drops. This turned out to be a sales pitch for eye soap and drops. To be clear, he put drops in my eye, without telling me that it wasn't the expected dilation drops, and without my consent to said treatment. If you're keeping track, we are up to 3 separate instances of nonconsensual behavior. (1. purse, 2. mask, 3. eye drops.) To add insult to injury, he tried to sell us some antioxidant test. When all of the eye checking was complete, I asked about dilating my eyes to which Dr. Gendal responded that he doesn't dilate during Covid. Now everything felt like a bait and switch. Some optometrists offer a retinal photograph for a ~$40 fee which is not covered by insurance. My wife and I didn't want to pay for the photograph so we found Dr. Gendal through a recommendation. When I called to book an appointment, I asked about the retinal photograph to which I was told it was not mandatory and I could choose the traditional dilation. At no point was I told that the office was not dilating eyes. After Dr. Gendal told me he wasn't dilating during Covid, he responded as though he was feeling "terrible" and offered a BOGO retinal photograph (2 for $40.) This was the bait and switch. We were in a bind at this point. We already had our eyes checked, so it would have been difficult finding another optometrist to forego the full exam and only perform the dilation and retinal exam. So, my wife and I opted for the photographs, because we felt like we didn't have a choice at that point. To cap things off, when we were leaving, the receptionist made sure to place all the Lumify products on the counter just for us and assumed the sale. It was like exiting through an infomercial. No, we didn't want any of the products nor did we buy them. Update: Dr. Gendal called me to apologize for our experience. He made sure to mention that this experience is a first for him over his 40 years of practicing. While this may be true as the positive reviews suggest, not all patients are the same, and all patients should be treated as individuals. He seemed apologetic, remorseful, and acknowledged what had happened. To be clear, I don't believe that Dr. Gendal was egregious or malicious. However, I believe he was negligent in considering the full scope of the situation during the appointment. While he may be fully comfortable with all of his patients, not all patients are fully comfortable in return. Dr. Gendal offered a full refund for services rendered although I didn't write this review for a refund. I hope moving forward, there is better communication between the doctors, staff, and patients to ensure a better overall experience for everyone involved. read more

I am a new client and found a new home. From the moment I walked in Ira treated me like a family member. I only waited a few minutes but watched and was impressed with the way Ira interacted with his patients. I came in with a prescription from another Dr and he offered me lenses for $340 that another optometrist a mile away quoted for $615, he even gave me an extra coating they did not include for free. He said I could use my old frames since they were in good shape, however the pricing was so competitive I bought new quality frames anyway. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE....I visited vision world on Jan 7th at 4pm My appt was with Reisch I have lived and worked in Coral springs for 30 years I had the worst experience of my life.. Dr Reisch has a god complex and would refuse to hear my concerns.. It was his way or the highway literally . I had ask for help regarding an eye issue and because I felt more comfortable asking questions and requesting process which was slightly different . He abruptly stood up and said this is not a fit clap his hands and said WE ARE DONE HERE. Walk out of the office, Never in my life has a professional treated me this way. Dr. Gendel and his staff are amazing. I took both of my daughters in today (7&15) and they both had great problem free visits. The way he was able to engage my youngest and explain to her what he was doing and how important vision is was the best part. She ended up needing glasses, the hospitality in the front of tge shop matched that of the examination, she was allowed to try on as many as she wanted until she found the right one for her. I brought my mother to Dr. Reisch for a routine eye exam. He examined her carefully, identified a serious underlying problem and promptly referred and scheduled her to see a specialist. We have have been life long clients of Vision World, and my family cannot begin to express our gratitude for having such great optometrists to go to. I personally saw Dr Reisch recently and he was kind as always. I had an eye infection after traveling overseas a week before. Dr Reisch was able to see me right away and took every measure to inspect my eye carefully. Even though my eye was fine, Dr Reisch went out of this way to personally set me up with a specialist for an MRI first thing in the morning. Further, I have a disabled sister who cannot walk or talk and has always had the best care from the team at Vision World.
