I have called every few weeks for 9 months. They can never get my bill ran with the correct information. I have delt with incorrect insurance, incorrect name, address, DOB, social security number and more. As others have said, the front desk staff is very rude and unhelpful. The Dr is ok but having to speak to rude staff members that roll their eyes and act like asking them a question is a hardship isn't something I'm willing to deal with with. The front desk lady Angela wasn't very friendly like her interaction with others I noticed she was way more friendly and welcoming and when we came in she was very dismissive and not as welcoming to us. I've tried Visionworks twice and both times they screwed up my prescription, the first time they re-examined my eyes and found out it was their mistake and had to redo my lenses. The second time I ordered glasses from them and had them give me a copy of my script so I can get some safety glasses elsewhere, I found out that the script they gave me was different than the script they use on the glasses they made me, they told me to go get an exam somewhere else before they would replace my lenses. This place is definitely unprofessional and I definitely will not be using them anymore. read more

Love love this location! Great customer service. Megan was helpful, troubleshooting what was wrong with my glasses. Ended up needing an eye exam just 3 months after my last one. Turns out my prescription has change significantly, Optometrist was great too, didn't it get his name though, cool guy, educated me with the changes. I loved my older frame from another state so Megan found the sku frame from that location (also Visionworks). She just went above and beyond. I appreciate that. I've been coming to this location for my eye exams for the last 3 years and every time I've been here I've had no problems with any of the staff. My husband needed new glasses and sunglasses so we went back to Visionworks because they do an awesome job. They greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. Dave called and made an appointment the night before but they also have walk-in appointments for Eye exams,right now eye exams are only $29.95. There is an employee named Stacy she is so friendly we followed her from another store she was at in Plainfield that we purchased Glasses from 5 years ago. She is very helpful and walks around and helps you pick out the right glasses for your face. Then you set down and get all the stuff you need for them,like bifocals, scratch resistant, glare resistant and transition so you don't need sunglasses. And of course Hubby got it all plus sunglasses. But he got two pairs for the price of one what a deal. read more

I love that this location in Avon, Indiana is open on Sundays! We needed to get glasses for my daughter while she was home from college. The staff was excellent, with the exception of Jessica. While she is very good at what she does, she is very rude. I heard her say something rude to everyone she helped. Its too bad because everything else about this location is fantastic. This has been my 2nd unpleasant interaction with this employee. "Miss Mary Sunshine", who is one of the receptionists, consistently speaks down to me when I am making decisions regarding my visit. Today, I told her I was declining having my eyes dilated, as I have a school exam to take this evening. She laughed, and asked why my health was soo unimportant to me. I explained my situation, to which she responded "Do you even understand why we want to do that? That just amazes me that you would decline. HA. Your choice shocks me. Especially at your age" (I'm 26!?) she sneered at me as I checked out, and huffed and puffed throughout the extent of our interaction. I was very taken aback by this behavior, especially taking into consideration that this is the second time being spoken to like this by Mary. The initial time, I chalked it up her likely having a bad day or maybe not feeling well. While the rest of the staff here do an acceptable job, I will not be returning on account of the rude and judgmental behavior of the aforementioned staff member. I should add that I immediately brought this behavior to the attention of the Opthalmologist. She laughed and said "she can be a little testy!! But I see you are in PA school. Similar to how you are a Doctor's helper, she is my helper and just tries to convince my patients to do what is best!" No apology, and absolutely NO grasp of the PA profession. We spoke of books and she really spoke like a rube. She said that she's into ferry, trolls and shit! Honestly I was a little confused. Stopped to look at her degree on the wall to see if she was really a doctor as I left the room. As I saw her middle name it seemed familiar because I am a certified genealogist. I asked about it she snapped back about it being a grandfathers name. So I sat down with the glasses which I thought were covered under my Medicare medicaid. The young lady and the young woman was just as rude. I made an excuse to leave because I couldn't afford the glasses I picked up and felt like I begging for help I think I'd rather go blind than set foot in that fucking place ever again! It was my first time going to visionworks in Avon because my usual dr was booked up and I needed new contacts soon. My fault for waiting last minute.. but decided to give a new place a try. My visit with the dr was good but the staff that assists you with buy glasses and contacts r pushy and always seem like they are rushing you.. I hate that feeling.. even though they r busy doesn't give a them an excuse to be push and try to make you buy glasses if you don't want to or if you don't want to order contacts yet. I wanted to wait and see if i could order online for cheaper but they guy that helped me was like "you know you have insurance coverage right" with attitude. I know i do but I have astigmatism in one eye so it doesn't cover all of it.. i tried calling back couple weeks later to go ahead and place an order for my contacts and the lady that answered was speaking so fast and again.. seem like she was in a rush to get me off the phone. She said they'd have to call me back and told down my information. And said they'd try to call me back today and if they put in the order it won't be until Monday anyways.. she didn't even say bye but just hung up the phone.. not sure if I'll be coming back for my next exam. read more

It was recommended to me by someone who has been attending visionworks for several years and his family, they got an online eyewear service the same service they denied me, I ended up paying for 2 glasses that I did not like, for me and my daughter, glasses that have not yet I have gone to pick up, one of the women who was there was rude and her attitude was discriminatory, my daughter and I were well cared for by the Doctor, but due to the service I received, I will not recommend them to other people, it is uncomfortable to be wearing glasses that you don't like. read more

Always fantastic service and pricing is right in the budget. Their optional optomap scan is super affordable and the contact lens exam is cheaper than my previous place. My doctor is the female doctor in the office. She has been wonderful and works with me to get me in the correct prescription the first time. Never had an issue. I couldn't be happier with the service I got at this branch! I bought glasses from a different provider earlier in the year. In December I slipped on ice and smashed my face on a porch post. Fortunately I wasn't badly hurt, but I lost my left lens. Frankly, I am blind as a bat without my classes, and I couldn't find my old glasses. My other provider did absolutely nothing to speed up the replacement process (3 weeks), and in fact sent me to the local Visionworks. That store did not have my prescription, but they contacted another store who could get me a pair of single vision glasses (not bifocals! rats!) that day. Long story short, the Avon store was fantastic! Kudos also to the Lafayette store for their part. read more

I stepped on and broke my very nearsighted daughter's glasses on a Saturday night, Visionworks was the only place open on a Sunday, I called and they were able to get her in that afternoon. I was working with no insurance and of course, was a little worried about cost, this location had a wonderful coupon that allowed me to walk out paying about $100.00 for an exam, lenses, and frames. The staff was pleasant, the doctor was lovely and the glasses were done in less than an hour. read more

Doctors are excellent as well as majority of staff. However, the wait is horrid, I had to reschedule my initial appointment because the doctor was running over an hour behind. My daughter was able to get her appointment in but had to return to be "trained" for contact wear as no one was available the day of the appointment. On top of it all, unfortunately, when we returned for the training several days later, the OT who does the training spent less than 5 minutes with my daughter and failed her so now we must return another day. This particular OT (and the only 1 there who brags of being licensed in Ohio but mind you we are in Indiana) made it a point to tell me that 3 other children failed the training today as well. What does this tell the common person, not that the children are doing it wrong but they are being taught incorrectly by this licensed OT and not being designated enough time for proper instructions and interactions. Did I mention she said the right words but all in a condescending way to my child as if I wouldn't notice. My child even recognized it and said she was not comfortable with her in the back by herself. She rushed her and wasn't able to allot time for questions but told her oh you only have 5 minutes to do this and if you can't get it here watch how to on you tube and return. Seriously! read more

Long story short picked out my $69 dollar glasses...sat down with my 2 prescriptions was told I needed $100's of dollars of extra stuff. Total would be $600 charged to my insurance co. I would pay ONLY $300 what a deal. My vision is 20/20 and 20/30 in one eye. One script was for readers! Scamming the insurance companies seem common place now a days. If I did not have insurance I feel the charges would have been a lot less. My daughter measured my pupils at home, sent off for 2 pair of online eyeglasses only paid $150.00 without using insurance and I love them they are beautiful and effective for the low vision that I need only when reading or using a computer. One pair is bifocal. The online eyeglass co has thousands of happy customers...now I know why. And why insurance costs are through the roof now because of these type of chain facilities milking them unnecessarily. read more
