I'd give 0 if you could. Came in November of 2021, ordered glasses and contacts. I paid for a regular exam for glasses and another exam for contacts. It took several weeks for the contacts to come in. The Dr was not in when I had to go back to try the contacts on so I set up an appointment which I physically saw the contact boxes. They never called to reschedule an appointment which I did, however we had a snow storm on the day I had the appointment for so they called to cancel but never called to reschedule. So now it's April 2022 and I walk in to schedule an appointment for sat the 16th. They check me in and after waiting about 40 minutes I check with the desk and they took another 20 min trying to find my contacts and the magically disappeared and they have the nerve to NOT refund me the contact exam that they messed up.. very bad customer service and not willing to help. I will go elsewhere for my families glasses. Unprofessional and just didn't care! Horrible horrible horrible experience. Save yourself the travel time and gas go somewhere else where they don't lose your stuff as if my gas and time is not important! read more

I will never go to this place again. I have been a loyal customer for years, but their service, attitude, and lenses have made me regret going back to them. Last year, I had same problem, I had this year. Who ever makes the lenses are doing something wrong. Last year they corrected lenses and I was able to see better. This year it took me 3 visits back to correct the lenses. A waste of time, patience, and worst of all the staff is always chating it up. So while you wait to see doctor, they are chatty. Then when you call over phone, they hang up too fast. When your lenses are "fixed" they don't even call you. I don't even think they bother to fix the lenses the first time I told them something was wrong. The worst part is staff says, wear them, and let your eyes get use to them. If I tell you, they are not clear, then why make me drive with them and settle for lenses that make me want to squint. Their frames are nice, and that is why I went back to them. I've been coming to Visionworks (formerly EyeDrx) on and off ( mostly off) for about 20 years. They take my vision plan and they have a few locations around NNJ so it's convenient. Definitely try and make an appointment if you need an eye exam. I spent about an hour and a half in the store from start to finish without an appointment. ( no glasses needed....20/20 vision!) The staff was great and the female optometrist ( krau??) is great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely would recommend. The only drawback is they don't carry higher- end frames. If your looking for that you will have to go elsewhere. Located on Route 17 south in the Staples ( formerly Gap) strip mall. read more

This firm does poor quality work and is basically a fraud.....I had ordered a pair of reading glasses and when they were ready, I picked up, did not get offered a "try-on" or any face to face with optician. In 3 weeks, one of the temple pieces fell off...I took it back and had to buy a new frame....another $100 down the tube. After getting the new pair, one of the lenses fell out and I lost it...I have no idea how or why VISION WORKS stays in business. I am now requesting that they replace the lost lens at no cost to me....No word yet from a so-called manager as to whether they'll do what I requested. The new frame was done in July, and the lens disappeared in August.....I will update this review when I have received an answer from VISION WORKS. read more

I have been trying to call the Paramus location for over a week and every time I call I am on hold for 15 minutes and up to 1/2 hour. No one picks up the phone. I have left two messages and I spoke to a live person who said they would call me back and never did. This is my first experience with Vision Works and it will be my last. My insurance didn't cover the contact fitting fee that the office didn't tell me about it until after the contacts were in my eyes. Instead of offer some kind of support/payment plan/or even simply kindness, the doctor very angrily said take them out of my eyes. When I went to throw them out she followed in efforts to humiliate and shame me for not affording them. Got and eye exam, one important machine not working so I'm now going to an eye specialist for something not all that uncommon. Dr wasn't overly friendly and I only needed a pair of reading glasses which was what I figured I needed. I had a very good experience a vision works. I purchased contacts and glasses for a very reasonable price. It did take 3 trips to compete all that I needed done. On my first trip I had routine eye exam and the dr and I had decided to try new brand of contacts. I ordered a year supply thinking that I would like them, also knowing I had 30 days to return/exchange them. I had a week trial on the new brand (I didn't like the trial brand so did opt to go back to original brand on my second trip). On my second trip (1week later) I received my trial contacts of the original brand and I also purchased a pair of glasses which I did received a discount on bc I purchased contacts though them. A staff member named Micheal had helped me, he was great! He helped me to decide between 2 pairs of glasses, which btw I love my glasses! On my third and final visit I couldn't get a babysitter for my 2 year old daughter so I had to bring her with me. The staff and dr were very nice about me lugging my 2 year old in a stroller int the store. The dr called me in, checked my contacts were fitting properly, she took time to talk to my daughter, give her a sticker and just made us feel welcome. I went to front to exchange contacts the dr told front staff to order contacts with me, although Jess, the staff member was with another customer, she told me to have a seat at another desk, and she would be right with me. I was a bit worried at this point bc I know my daughter wouldn't last too much longer. Next thing I know Jess walks up to me and says you are all set. Contacts were ordered and I was refunded the difference. I was told contacts would be in 7-10 days. I get home and a few hours later receive a phone call from Jess. She said they actually had my prescription in stock and that they would ship it to me. I told her I could come pick it up, and she was so kind to say not to worry about it bc she knew I had my daughter and it may be hard to get back in. Wow, what the heck happened to this business since I last went two years ago?? After calling the number listed which is not a person but rather a robot, after several tries for them to get the spelling of my name correct, I still did not get anywhere. I made an appointment last week to pick out glasses and not only can I not get an appointment but I was originally scheduled for January 3, 2022 only to get a call from someone on December 31, 2021 at the Paramus store saying the appointment cannot be kept. How am I supposed to get anyone back? The computer generated machine does not seem to know how to spell, and I was told to call back to reschedule an appointment. What is going on with this company? I never had to do this two years ago, is this something to do with COVID? Not only is this going to turn people off but it is very unprofessional to have to speak to a robot in order to make an appointment. Visionworks this is unacceptable and not a good way to do business! All I need is to get a new pair of glasses so how to do I get through? I already had made an appointment with my eye doctor for an eye exam so why do I have to go through all this just to get a pair of glasses? I wish I read the reviews prior to visiting Visionworks. I had recently lost my eye insurance coverage after going on maternity leave. I visited Visionworks based on the advertised exam prices and deals on glasses. I found the staff less than courteous. When it was time to pay for my lenses and glasses I was floored on how much the cost came to and asked the customer service representative to break down the prices for me to get a better understanding of why it came to so much. Unfortunately she seemed quite annoyed, and I'm still not even sure what I paid for to be honest. I also witnessed the customer service treat other customers with the same regard. I'm kicking myself as I probably would've saved money going to my regular ophthalmologist and pay out of pocket and had a much better experience. read more

My daughter and I came to Vision Works in Paramus today. We have in the past gone to a well respected practice and my daughter said "let's just try it". So we did. Dr. Krav amazing, explained everything with enthusiasm and professionalism. Answered all questions (she truly loves what she does). I had an issue with a cracked lense in a pair of my glasses. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and courteous and in my opinion went above and beyond to help me out and make sure I had them repaired as soon as possible. I've been going there for years but by far this is the best staff I have deal with there. I believe Kayla was one of the people who helped me out and the manager on duty was extremely helpful. Exams and selection process went OK for both my wife and me. My glasses ( bifocal transitions and photograying) were supposed to be in a week ago. Salesperson Jesse called and said they came in incorrectly and one lens had to be re-done. OK, but It would take a week more now. I explained that I was leaving in 6 days on a long trip (Alaska) where I really needed the new glasses. Saleswoman said she would put a "rush" on them and I could get them the evening before my early morning flight - Great! Update (5 days later): Flight is tomorrow now; no calls from Jesse. So I called them. After two calls I got that "she's left for or the day" and other saleswoman (who disconnected me the first time I called) says "they haven't come in". I don't think she put in more than 2 seconds checking on my glasses to see if they were there or not. I'm not happy or impressed with their attitude or performance. I can't wait to see how they come out when I return in 3 weeks. I WILL be updating this review then. read more

I have been coming to VisionWorks for years now, but have only been going to the Paramus location for 2 years. I switched from my former location due to terrible customer service and this one is not much better. I went for my eye exam last week and I requested my prescription for both my contacts and my eye glasses, which they wrote out. When I got home I realized that the pupillary distance (PD) was left off the prescription. When I contacted them they told me that they cannot provide it to me and that I would have to come back in because it apparently was not measured during the eye exam. I've never heard of this before in my life and it is likely because they want me to purchase glasses from them. If I had purchased glasses that day I'm sure they already would have had my PD measurement already, from the eye exam. I argued with the girl who answered the phone, but I still did not receive my PD from her. Instead I will just attempt to measure it myself and I will never return to them. I had a 12pm appt. I didn't end up leaving until after 2pm. The exam is done by one of the floor associates. No problem there. However, it wasn't until after I saw the dr and had to pick out my frames that everything became a disaster. The lady that was supposed to help pick out fames disappeared. After 15 minutes of waiting someone else finally took over. The staff are completely unprofessional. Taking personal phone calls and discussing their bonuses out loud. Do yourself a favor, go to Cohen's. At least you'll get your glasses the same day. read more

After waiting almost 3 weeks for two identical pairs of glasses, and needing to call them just to find out they were ready, they neglected to tell me they were closing soon. This was on top of the rudeness of every single customer service person in the store the day of my apartment. To top it off, when someone unlocked the door to tell me they were closed, though they had customers still inside, they refused to allow me to pick up my glasses. The ONLY reason that I am giving this establishment 2 stars is because the Optometrist Dr. Kim was excellent. She explained everything very thoroughly and was extremely friendly. Every single other aspect of this facility was far less than ideal. I had called a few days prior to coming in asking about pricing. (After they checked my benefits of course as I am aware every plan is different). The woman/girl who I spoke with told me that contact fitting would be between $40-$70. I told her that seemed excessive as I've worn contacts for over a decade and go yearly for exams and have never been charged such a high dollar amount. She was rather rude with her response so rather than carrying on the conversation, I decided to inquire with my plan on my own. Upon doing so I discovered that it was only a $20 copay for a contact lens fitting. Fast forward to day of; I called ahead of time and asked if they accept walk-ins. (My frames had broken and I was desperate as I was also on my 2nd to last pair of contacts). The girl I spoke with told me yes. When I walked in, there was only one man on the floor and about 10-15 people waiting. More than half of those people waiting behind me for someone to come back to the counter (which took just shy of 10 mins before myself and others got to speak to anyone.). The exam went well with the optometrist. When I was lead out to speak about purchasing new frames and the details of what my plan covered etc. is again where it went a little astray. The man was friendly however, not in the slightest bit knowledgeable whatsoever. He told me my copay for the contact fitting was $32. I corrected him and at some point he just "agreed" to $20 (as per my plan I might add, not a deal I made with an associate). Overall, the staffing minus Dr. Kim lacked proper knowledge, and I do not feel comfortable returning unless it is simply to see the optometrist to discuss new contact options. My experience, while it didn't result in an eye infection like some other reviewer's, wasn't any better. I have worn hard lenses since 1967, and knew I needed a small change to my prescription. The doctor insisted that my prescription was all wrong and said that nothing I had been doing prior to my visit with her mattered because she was going to examine me "from the beginning" and give me the right prescription. My Dad was an optometrist - this lady was off her rocker. I walked out in the middle of the eye exam and will be returning one more time, to pick up my records (which it took them 2 days to find) and take them to another eye doctor. read more

I came here looking for eye glasses that I was going to wear occasionally (I mostly wear contact lenses). I had a coupon for a BOGO free plus $50 off. They have a huge variety of glasses for both men and women. I must have tried on every pair in the place (since I'm a huge pain). I enlisted the help of one of the associates named Julie. She was super nice and patient with me as I debated for a long time. I can't speak for the optometrists there (since I already had my prescription from someplace else) but the people working there seemed very nice, professional and courteous to all the customers. They honored my coupon without issue so I was pleased. I got my two pairs of eyeglasses, my discount, and I'm happy overall with the service! read more

I had a nice experience with Dr. Krav and Ashley. They performed a lot more tests and were more thorough than my prior eyeglass place. I picked frames for 69.00 that are a perfect fit for me. I agree with other reviewers that customer service is hit and miss and and it can be upsetting, since at other jobs our ass will be fried if we are even slightly less than delighted to interact with a client. Customer service gets good when you know you'll be fired if it's bad. But doctors' offices are a different world. read more

My experience the first day for the eye exam was terrible, the doctor was rude about any questions I had regarding the contacts they were fitting me with. I asked for prescriptions for both contacts and glasses to take with me. A few months later when I went purchase contacts elsewhere the prescription ended up being wrong/outdated and only something they could use. I had to return for them to rewrite it. I also went to purchase glasses at a much better place and they submitted that I already had used the material coverage to my insurance - which was not correct. The new provider asked them to correct it and they wouldn't. They ended up having to call my insurance directly and was able to get it resolved. Long story short, save yourself the frustration and avoid this place. read more
