It took 45 days and 3 tries to finally get my lenses right. Nice people at the store and very apologetic, but their access to the processing lab seems limited, therefore, stuff that goes sideways can't be prioritized. I didn't have my prescription sunglasses for that amount of time which was not too fun given I drive a lot for a living. read more

I think the person who helped me assumed I had already had glasses before, so he didn't really fully explain the choices I had. He went too quickly through my options, so I ended up not getting what I actually wanted, mostly because I didn't understand the differences, the pros and cons, or that I even had a choice. I'm really not happy with the plastic lenses. They are so so hard to keep clean. I guess they are more lightweight? I wish I had known I had another option. A few other options I didn't know I had. Went to Visionworks today because I needed to replace my sunglasses which have found a new home...at the bottom of the French Broad River. I needed fast turn around due to an impending beach trip at the beginning of the week. One word. ERIC!!!!! Not happy with my glasses at all! I got progressive lenses and chose the digital option which should give a wider view for reading close up but is actually extremely narrow. I went back thinking that there had been a mistake since this "wider" option cost an additional $175 but was told that there was no mistake, this is just how it is. I believe that I was speaking with the manager who told me, "imagine how narrow it would be if you hadn't purchased digital". Not helpful at all! They have a visual diagram card showing how wide the digital should be on the lens and how narrow it would be without it. I showed him this card and explained that this wasn't accurate and was very much misleading. He shrugged his shoulders. Don't go! read more

Great job Josh!! I visited Visionworks Greenville to repair or replace my son's frames while he was home from college. We were both expecting a much longer and involved experience than the one we encountered. Shortly after walking in the door we were met by Josh. He assessed the situation, found replacement frames, installed replacement frames, and collected the $20 copay in the span of about 5 minutes. He also cleaned my son's lenses that had not seen a cleaning cloth since original installation. He was amazed at how much better he could see and how many more wrinkles he has given his Dad. Loved the service! I bought glasses in town before (at another shop near Visionworks) which is why I can "contrast and compare." Though sales people were around nobody was "hoovering," but the sales people were "standing by" in case I needed something. They had that classy, elegant approach vs. "ignoring the client until they signal that they'll buy" or the "hoovering-pressuring approach." Just the perfect way, the way things used to be done 10 or 20 years ago. After I finally narrowed my choices to two pairs, Jill assisted me. She was friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Also, she handled the whole covid thing in a most excellent way. Both of us wore masks but she'd always give me space so I could step to one of the mirrors where I could look at myself with the new glasses without anybody being within 10 feet of me. When I picked up my glasses, there was no "pressuring the client" to buy cleaning solutions or anything like that. All Jill cared about was if I liked my glasses, if anything needed to be adjusted and so on. Visionworks saved my bacon. I needed to deplete my Health Savings Account at year end and went for the first eye exam I could book. It's important to know that the exam was NOT at Visionworks. I had a good experience before so I took the 3rd party prescription to the Woodruff Rd. store. They cheerfully and quickly made a pair of glasses for me. Long story short the prescription was horrible and just didn't work. A couple months later I got a new prescription from my regular optometrist. Visionworks replaced my lenses in accordance with their satisfaction policy at no cost (about $600) in spite of the fact that the problem was in no way, shape, or form, their fault. June was awesome. We first went on Sunday and she immediately offered to assist us finding glasses. She has a wonderful smile and personality! We ran out of time and didn't have our prescriptions so she held our 4 pairs of glasses for several days. When I arrived, June met me with a smile, she had all of our insurance information and our prescriptions for me when I arrived. Even when I moved to another state they took the time and effort to work with another branch (which was not as accommodating) to get my glasses done just right. Unbelievable poor service. We went here on Sunday because we needed a repair and our regular eye doctor was closed. They opened at 1:00. We walked in at 1:20 and the doc was going to lunch. Seriously he couldn't have gone to lunch before they opened? They are only open 1-5. He was the only one that could read the prescription. We waited. He was back in about 20 minutes which wasn't bad. However he decided to help 3 other walk-ins before helping us. Why? Who knows? It was just ridiculous. I would rather pay more than go here again. Oh and the lady helping him can't run the computers very well and always has to get his password. Oh here's the best part. When I went to pay with my credit card, they have dial up. So after it dials and eventually connects it does print out on a dot matrix printer. I am so not kidding. read more

Not a good first impression. Received a text that my glasses were ready. Drove 45 minutes to get there and they could not find them. Says they have a record of them receiving the pair but turned the place upside down looking for them to no avail. Was refunded but would much rather have my custom glasses I ordered. I met a friend there today. He got an eye exam and glasses. The main reason we chose that place is because we thought it would be faster than some of the discount places like Sam's Club and Costco. They aren't the lowest price maybe but certainly aren't the highest. The staff at both Nigh Optical where he got his eye exams and at Visionworks were very nice and very professional. My friend is on a tight budget and they were very understanding in getting him inexpensive glasses. The total price for both exam and glasses was less than expected. read more

Eye exam next door with Nigh Eyecare went well. However I found the service at VisionWorks to be lacking. I was there with my grandson who has never worn glasses before. We were greeted and we told the guy what we were there for. He explained the two for one special and showed us the the glasses to look at but said he was with someone else and would be back with us shortly. We looked at all the frames but didn't know how to judge size or fit. We waited for awhile. Then another guy appears, the first guy tells the second guy what we are there for and the second guy says " I'll be right back" and walks away. We waited for a little longer, by this time, I felt we had waited long enough. I told my grandson there are plenty of other places that sell glasses and these people don't seem to be wanting to help us. We left and will never go back or recommend this place. Funny though, as we were walking out the door they were asking " do you have any questions?" A little late don't you think? Why didn't they ask us while we were wasting our time standing around waiting for someone to help us? Duh, yes we had questions, why do you think we were standing there?? read more

My daughter broke her glasses yesterday and this is the first time in six years I did not buy a second pair for backup. There was no choice but to go to Visionworks and bite the bullet. Craig Hall made a dreaded trip turn into an absolute a refreshing experience. He was more than helpful with the warranty, the proper fit of a new pair of frames, an upgrade of the lens, and all in less than an hour. My daughter was able to go back to school the next morning without tape on her glasses, to get by. I truly have not seen customer service like that anywhere in a long time. They are very understaffed. We purchased frames and glasses three days ago. They had to remake the lenses. The lenses were not fitted correctly and had large gaps around the frame. They remade the glasses. Guess what they are slightly better but still have gaps around the frame. They will have to remake the glasses for the third time. We do not have time running back to the store. Simple changes and this location could shine. Very few employees greeted us when entered. The two that did actually care. But they are so understaffed they can't make a difference. read more

Their frames are more then double what you can pay at on line frames retailers. I recently tried to buy glasses there and the guess frames that they were charing me $189.00 for were only $75 on line. I asked the representative to match the price and she told me that she couldn't because of my insurance...So you have to rip off my insurance company too? My insurance covers up to $130.00 on frames, they could have at least brought them down to that price. I mean we are not talking about 5 or even 10% more...we are talking about more than 100% over what you can pay on line. If you've ever wondered why insurance costs are out of control...This is why, they are maximizing profits at my expense as in (out of pocket ) as well as my insurance carrier. This drives up rates, and we all pay more for insurance. This is sooo enraging, not just as a customer, but as an American. If anyone from Visionworks cares about their reputation....address this.
