I had lasik done on December 7th by Dr. Parisi. Within just a few days, I was seeing 20/20! The entire staff at the Greenville location was absolutely phenomenal. They went above and beyond to accommodate my appointment times to fit my busy schedule. During my pre-op and post-op appointment, I was seen by Dr. Brown who was also very knowledgeable and took his time! I saw Dr. Sawyer for my 1 week follow-up. I experienced quite a bit of dryness in my eyes after the lasik (it's normal!) and he gave me some drops that nipped it in the bud! I enjoyed the experience and would do it all over again if I had too! From the check-in desk, exam room, to the surgery room, .... they care! Trust them. Thank you, Clemson Eye! Worse optimologist ever. I have had a PD since I can remember and I have been wearing glasses since I was 6 years old. I told them that I need PD for both eyes. The right PD and the last PD were absent from my prescription. I went to several places both online and in person and was told that my prescription called for PDs for both eyes. I tried to call them back but never was able to get anyone on the phone. I was also told that they don't take either of my insurance plans even though I was told on the phone to setup an appointment that they definitely accept both my dual plan. I can't stand a liar but I hate a liar who thinks I am stupid! I doubt the entire exam. Will not be going back read more

This practice far more concerned with their profit margins than the client experience. They run patients on a 10-minute. Inexplicably, they're booked. The result: prepare to spend 2 hours for 5-10 minutes of service. To top it off, my last latest iteration with these folks resulted in an incorrect prescription, so I get to do it all over again. This practice is big, busy and SO friendly--every.single.person!! My exams have been thorough and each step has been explained carefully. I was extremely apprehensive about my procedure but it was as uncomplicated as I had been told. The follow up was excellent. Consider seeking a different eye care provider. I have been going to Clemson Eye since 2020 for a yearly eye exam, and each year my eye pressure has increased. Eye pressure typically ranges between 12-21mmHg, and my pressure rose to 19. The staff did not seem concerned and did not proceed with additional tests to identify the cause of the increase. I also visit the VA for an annual physical, so I decided to have an eye exam there after learning about my elevated pressure. The VA staff expressed concern and, during my first exam, conducted a visual field test and took pictures of my eyes. I appreciated this thoroughness and wished Clemson Eye had done something similar. The VA prescribed drops to help lower my pressure. I made another appointment back at Clemson and they gave me a test and took pictures. They told me yes I was a candidate for glaucoma. My pressures were down because of the drops I was taking from the VA You pay for a complete eye exam and you don't get what you paid for! They won't even take care of the bill they sent me considering that they overlooked this glaucoma issue! NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO CLEMSON EYE!!! read more

Two months prior to my appointment, I was checked at Jervey Eye. ONE month before my visit to Clemson Eye, I went to the famed MUSC, in Charleston, where they did a small surgery on my eye. A month later, I simply needed a prescription for glasses, as my vision had changed. So I chose Clemson Eye. They did my prescription and I paid $70. Then they sent a bill to insurance. - the total bill was $485! Insurance paid some, and Clemson says I still owe $189.26. When I called and complained and said that I only came in for a prescription, the receptionist told me they don't only do that and they give you a TOTAL eye exam. Well, don't you think I should've been told that when I made the appointment? The optometrist there looked in my eyes, and I read the eye charts - 10 minutes. $485? I could've gone to Warby's for $95 and gotten the prescription PLUS two pairs of glasses. I could've gone ANYWHERE and not been charged this. I'm not paying the $189.26. I've called and written to them, but they keep emailing me and mailing me. Not a good experience. read more

I had cataract surgery with one of the doctors at Clemson Eye. Patients are treated like cattle, lined up the hallway waiting for the doctor to stroll in when he finds it convenient. Surgery center is a small, old building in need of replacement. It was so bad that I had my second surgery with Jervey Eye Group. They have a nice, clean surgery center, where the staff treats their patients as humans not cattle. read more

Frames broke three times, within one year they gave me a hard time on the third pair because it was just over a year. The third pair just broke and they said my prescription is just over due. They damaged the lens on #3 so they can't be used again. They won't make a set of lenses because they say It's the law that I need a new scrip. They are a racket. Avoid at all costs. read more

He pointed out a couple problems with my eyes but then said he was not excited to do what was needed. He didn't offer a referral or anything. Your office scheduling is extremely ill informed and cost my family time and money by booking the appointment in the wrong office with the wrong eye doctor . I specifically asked for a pediatric eye specialist for my children. I was told I need to drive to Greenville, an hour away, yet received texts to go to Seneca. I was book in the wrong location with a non- peds doctor. We were going to be a new, repeat, CASH paying family of four, eye glass wearing customers. You lost our business. The Pelham Rd office is the most ill managed business I have ever been to. Out of 9 appointments since March it has taken 1.5 to 2.5 hours to just have a quick exam or a check up after a proceedure. nearly impossible to have a call returned by the doctor's ofc in order to get questions answered. I called midday on Monday and it's now Thursday morning and no one has returned my call. I called AGAIN and my call was marked 'high priority' meaning someone will get back with me in 24 hours! this after already waiting 3 days! i really liked the provider but this practice is just too large. you can't submit questions using their supposed 'patient portal.' a practice this large should be using something like MyChart. read more

I keep telling everyone LASIK eye surgery is one of the best things I have ever paid for...I'm not sure why I waited so long to do this. Clemson Eye has been so great every step of the way from the initial evaluation to the day of the surgery to every single follow up after. They made sure to walk me through everything thoroughly and made sure I had all the instructions on how to take care of my eyes post-op. During the day of the surgery, I was very anxious but one of the nurses helped keep me calm through the entire procedure. Their facility is also absolutely stunning. read more

After a long wait a caller router said they would call me back. They did not. I tried recalling and spent over 1 hour listening to recorded messages that said I was caller number 2. I gave up. Clemson eye is now part of a large conglomerate and no longer provides the care they once did. It is now a drive thru cataract removal and eye glass sales organization. I was misdiagnosed, sold glasses and scheduled for additional surgery. On the day of surgery the surgeon told me I did not need the surgery not did I need anything other than readers. Patients beware of who you see for eye exams. read more

Had a bad experience at Clemson Eye today. It took over 90 minutes to see an Opthmologist for 3 minutes. I also fell prey to a very deceptive service/billing practice. I was in the office for a diabetic eye exam. I was casually asked if I wanted a "refraction" which in my experience was always included in an eye exam. I was charged a $50 copay for the visit. Afterwards my insurance provider said that the exam was supposed to be fully covered. They contacted Clemson Eye and were told that the exam was covered but the "refraction" was not covered. In Addition to the diabetic exam, my insurance in fact includes an exam that includes refraction. Clemson Eye reportedly said that coverage was included in a different type of exam. I was never advised that the refraction evaluation would not be covered (it apparently would have been in a separate appoitment). The whole process was very unsatisfactory! read more

I agree with all those complimenting doctors and staff. The concern is the waiting time. Two hours waiting time to see the doctor for five minutes. Unacceptable. Had my eye surgery here 6 years and picked them because of the warranty they offered and the fact the were stationary and not traveling doctors on different equipment every day. Last year my vision changed and I was seen by them and we discussed returning to get another vision check so we could correct my vision surgically for the second time. I went to my second follow up/ vision check and they confirmed my vision stayed the same and that I could get the surgery redone. HERES WHERE IT GOES SOUTH On December 12th, Claire confirmed that she would have to speak with management to see what's covered because I did not go to yearly follow ups. She said she would call me back that day, and told me it would be covered or have a % off but it wouldn't be full price. We also scheduled my second surgery for Jan 13th. I never received a call Monday, Tuesday or Wed. I called the office on Wed, and was told Claire was out and that someone would call me back wed night or Thursday morning. On Thursday I received a call saying that the best the could do is offer me the current promotion they offer new patients which is $1000 off and I would owe $4200 (the same amount I already paid once) I strong regret selecting this company in the first place as it was a complete waist of $4200 and now they think it's acceptable to offer me the great deal they offer everyone else, when I've already paid for the surgery once. My advice is.. go with the cheaper place, at least if you have to pay it twice it will be the same amount here once !! read more

I just waited 10 minutes on the phone only to have someone transfer me to another department and I was told to leave a number. I'm done. You folks might have a snazzy building and fancy tech, but the way you handle your patients in and our of the exam room is atrocious. The doctors are great; but be prepared to wait. They overbook their appointment times, so you will wait, and wait and wait.

When I originally came to Clemson Eye, I carefully explainted that I am a Cigna Medicare Advantage patient, and an annual well vision check is completely covered under the associated Eye Med program. I asked if they honored this program and was assured they did. Last year I was charged an additional $ 70 for services they performed that were not covered under the Eye Med program and at the time of the visit, did not ask for my concent. These procedures were done without my knowledge. After multiple phone calls and discussions, the charges were removed. This year, I am being charged an additional $ 20 for services they performed that were not covered under the Eye Med program and at the time of the visit, did not ask for my consent. These procedures were done without my knowledge. These people know - or should know - what procedures are covered and which are not. I should be extended the courtesy of accepting or declining the procedures. This practice must be desperate for money. Needless to say, I will find another provider for my next well vision visit. read more

I was so happy when Clemson Eye could get us in for an appointment for my elderly mother and her scratched cornea. At 10:32 AM, they asked if I could be there by 10:45 AM. I told them that would be tough, but I would make it work. I also explained I only had pictures of her insurance cards. Rushed there, walked in at 10:48 AM, waited for at least 5 minutes minutes for the girl at the check in counter to finish her phone conversation, started the check-in process and was then told that since I didn't have the updated picture of the medicare card, they wouldn't see us. I pleaded with them, even promising I could get a copy of the updated card from my sister (front and back) within 5 minutes. The girl said "he's already on a tight schedule, and it's past your appointment time, so no, he can't see you today". Shame on you, Clemson Eye, for not showing a little grace to an elderly patient who is in a great deal of pain. read more

Without delving into too much detail I was not 100% satisfied with my 3 visits. I do not discredit this business and would not advise against them but from a personal standpoint would not likely return. You may have better luck, so don't let me stop you. The staff are friendly and the negativity may have been in rare form. However my one major complaint, the long wait times, were confirmed by a regular patient with whom I spoke. I do want to give credit where credit is due to the girls at the desk who were all professional and courteous as well as the nurse/assistant whatever she is who prepped me for my visit. Another shining star was Amy downstairs at optical who worked with me to pick out the perfect pair of glasses, although unfortunately for me she was not to be found or seen during my subsequent two visits which led to my going elsewhere. read more

The medical care I have received from Dr. Montgomery has been excellent -- clear explanations and good recommendations. I have an issue with their scheduling practices. I had to get some testing done in advance of my appointment with the doctor. The tests were an appointment two weeks before my doctor visit. The technician at the time told me the test results were ready and the doctor was in that day but too bad, my appointment with him was two weeks away. So I had to make TWO trips to get the job done. The doctor agreed with me that was foolish. I asked the scheduler what we could do about this in the future and was told "You have to have two separate appointments." I asked why that was and she said "That is just our policy." So patients have to be inconvenienced to be sure we follow their policy. Not very customer friendly if you ask me. read more

Today I had my 1 month check up with Dr. Sawyer. An assistant took pictures of my eyes, which we had to retake. Being told to blink and hold and then being told to hold again after I have been holding and waiting for you to press a button, of course I will blink again. Then waiting an hour just to be moved from room to room for the ONLY doctor in the building it seems, all so he can take a few minutes to check my eyes. Some appointments have been very professional and quick, others have been DREADFUL. Aside from that, the surgery went great, I'm sure the other 50+ people who had it done the same day would say the same. read more

I had my LASIK eye surgery performed a week ago. I was nervous about it and worried about the many horror stories that you can find about LASIK online. I talked with Dr. Brown and Victoria and they answered all of my questions and told me that I was an excellent candidate for LASIK. They assured me that I would be very unlikely to experience any complications and that I would have very a very good outcome with LASIK. I was treated very well by everyone I dealt with, and Dr. Brown, Victoria, Mandy and Dr. Parisi stood out particularly during the several appointments that I had leading up to my surgery. I did some research and Clemson Eye uses femto-second lasers to do the surgery and that appears to be the latest technology with the least chance of complications. A week after surgery, I have 20/15 (better than 20/20) vision and I have had ZERO complications. There was no pain during the procedure or at any time after and I haven't had any issues with dry eyes, burning or watering of my eyes. I have had some mild "halo" effects like if you swim in a pool with chlorine in it, but that is almost completely gone now too. I am very happy with my experience at Clemson Eye - thank you! read more

My regular ophthomologist had retired in June, 2022, so I made this appointment at Clemson Eye, Pelham Rd branch, for June 2023 right afterwards. I filled out the medical/financial form in advance online. I arrived 5 minutes early and noticed the main waiting room was totally filled, with people walking around due to no seats. Didn't have to wait too long though for the preliminary optician checks (medical info, eye test, dilation). Very fast and thorough technician. Then I went into the purgatory of the 2nd waiting room, every seat filled with folks who had been waiting for the actual doctor exam. After 1.5 hours, some of the staff came around offering bottled water and cheese crackers, as some patients had been there long enough to miss lunch. Staff told me they thought I'd be called next. Nope. After 2 hours and feeding time for my babies fast approaching, I gave up, and checked out. At least the receptionist said there would be no charge for the partial exam. I said if they didn't have the staff to handle that many patients, why make all those appointments? She said "try again". I said "not here." Must try another smaller and better managed eye practice. This place seemed like a factory. The receptionists and eye techs seemed nice, but they don't know how to run a business. read more

Had an appointment for a complete eye exam because I hadn't had one in probably 18years. I wasn't having any issues and I don't wear contacts/glasses, just wanted a good, old-fashioned eye exam to be sure no "old age" issues. First, the waiting rooms are BEYOND overcrowded and I waited over an hour to be initially seen. Technician was very thorough, however, and seemed to know what she was doing. Lots of tests done, which was fine with me. I have VSP so I knew I'd be covered (less our $15 exam co-pay). Dr. Glaser came in afterwards and reviewed all of my tests and discussed possible future action. All seemed fine when I left. Then, I received a bill for $170.88. When I called the billing office they said it was submitted to our health insurance vs VSP because "medical testing was done." So I told her they needed to submit the balance due to VSP since they pay for the eye exam portion. She said she couldn't do that, I would have to pay the balance to them and then get reimbursed from VSP. What a scam! I called VSP and they said the billing office should have sent the bill to them, first, and then anything they didn't cover would be sent to medical insurance. Luckily, it appears that VSP is going to reimburse me 80% of the balance I paid to Clemson Eye. This place is a mega-conglomerate that has gotten WAYYYYYY too big for their britches. If I need eye care in the future, I will find a smaller, less hamster-wheel type office. read more

I love the doctors here. I've been coming here for ten years. My children also come here. They being said, do not take an appointment thinking you will be in and out. That's not a thing here. I've had to leave and come back before. It's normal to wait an hour and a half past your scheduled appointment. It's a little frustrating. read more

I waited over two weeks for this exam, asked off of work and then drove 35 minutes from my house to this location only to be told at check-in that they did not accept my vision insurance. I don't know why they didn't tell me that over the phone when I provided them with all of my vision insurance information. So I had to drive 35 minutes back home and now I'm short $3 in cash because I tipped there valet guy to basically park my car for two minutes. read more

My experience was not a good one. I have a cataract in my left eye and they assigned me a girl who didn't know what a cataract was. She was looking at my eye and didn't know what she was looking at and had to call someone over to ask what it was, that's his cataract she explained. Then the same girl starts doing the rest of the exam as if don't have a cataract. The one test she kept trying to do was you make a triangle with both your hands and look at a distant object with BOTH EYES. I have a cataract in my left eye I can't see anything with it but a blur, so she had no clue what to do. The Doctor comes in and his first words are "Don't ask me about costs I just work here". He then went on to explain the different option for my eyes leaves the room and the girls still didn't know how to complete the test so they had to call the doctor back in, he takes something covers my left eye, says something and that was that. The exam alone cost $300. The estimate for both eyes was $8,000 to $13,000 and I didn't trust their eye exam giving to me by a girl who didn't know what a cataract was. read more

The surgery went great but be careful of their accounting practices. They make you pay your deductible up front but after insurance was filed, I found they had overcharged me $900. It's been almost 3 months since the first surgery and though they acknowledge the overpayment and keep promising to send a refund check, I have yet to see it. Make sure to ask for statements. Don't pay the full amount they ask ahead of time. Get written quotes for everything. I went through one set of tests when I saw one MD then was given many of the same tests again prior to seeing the surgeon in the same office a few weeks later. My glasses were double what I had paid elsewhere within my plan. They make that process very confusing too. read more
