Sadly I had to go as a walk in with my only pair of glasses totally broken. I had just been told by the employee at BJ's optical to go to Pawtucket to get them fixed. Fortunately I decided to go to visionworks and Ann took EXCELLENT care of me! Within 15 minutes I had new frames and was able to see, all for under 50.00! Went to VW in Middletown today to get prescription lenses for several pairs of glasses. Was happy to wait my turn until I realized that the customer service person I was waiting my turn for was just busy chatting up a customer about nursing school and looking for career options for her daughter. This went beyond just friendly chit chat; the conversation went on and on and on as though I wasn't even there. I now know that nurses in MA make more money than they do in RI, that they should start their careers in a large hospital for experience, they should skip New Bedford altogether (too many alcoholic cases) and try a Cape hospital for ICU experience. I mean, it just went on and on and on. On a Tuesday morning, most people have a job to go to. I left and took my business elsewhere. read more

Excellent customer service from Caroline and Mallory. I was dumb and forgot my bag with my contact lenses and glasses for a vacation to Newport, 5 hours from home. I only had the contacts on my eyes and had slept in them. I let them know the issue and showed them my scrip and they worked with the doctor to give me a few trial pairs of daily contacts under my prescription. They did not have to do that but I was glad they helped me in a time of desperation. Learned my lesson, but you saved my vacation weekend and I am very grateful for how I was treated. read more

I went there for my first pair of glasses three years ago, and had a great experience from start to finish. Everyone was helpful taking the time to explain my options, and work without health insurance. I just went back when my prescription changed, and had another great experience. My brand new glasses unfortunately got a gouge in them, and they worked with me to get a replacement pair within a week. Very helpful employees, and great communication throughout. Worst customer service ever! I went to the Middletown, RI center to purchase 2 new pairs of glasses. (Glasses and sun glasses) There were 4 people working and each person was with a customer so I just started walking around looking a frames. Not one person even looked up at me or said something like "I'll be with you shortly..." nothing. No acknowledgement at all. As i walked around, I found a pair of awesome frames that I loved so much I was ready to buy 2 of the same frames and make one sunglasses. They already had my prescription in the system, so I would have been a pretty easy sale. After 30 minutes and still with no acknowledgement from anyone, I decided to leave and come back when they weren't as busy. The next day I drove back to middletown (a 20 minute drive for me) and was ready to purchase the glasses. I walked in, there were two workers and each was with a customer but nobody was waiting so I figured it wouldn't be too long a wait. One worker asked "do you need anything (?)" and I told her that I was there the day before and I found a great pair of glasses that I wanted to purchase but could not find them. I also advised her that I received a letter in the mail with specials 2 pairs for $59. She then said "that's only for $69 frames and you need the coupon". I didn't have the coupon with me but realized that the frames that I loved were $129 and I'd be better off with the store deal of BOGO any frame. I continued to look for the frames I liked. At this point I'm almost 30 minutes in the store. The other lady finished with her customer as soon as another person walked in the front door and she immediately helped him. I then walked closer to her and patiently waited for her to give the man his new glasses. Then 2 seconds later another person walked in and she immediately asked how she can help him! The store isn't that big....I know they both new I was there! I walked out and purchased 2 pairs of glasses from another store. Just some kind of kind acknowledgement is all I would have needed. But they couldn't even lift their head for a little eye contact. Sorry Visionworks, you lost a good customer! read more

Update: I received a full refund, but It looks like corporate went into damage control on this page and had two reviews placed by phony reviewers who both used their initials and have ONLY reviewed this page, to which Visionworks promptly "thanked" them the exact same day the review was posted. Gosh, what a coincidence that they happened to stumble upon this page the very same day a kind stranger complimented their (shuffles deck of corporate buzzwords) "Friendly helpful expert staff". Hey, here's an idea! Why not focus less on Yelp reviews and focus more on fixing your Used Car Lot approach to medicine. read more

I made the mistake of trying Visionworks. First of all, they advertised buy one pair of glasses for full price and you get the second pair free. I did that and when I asked how much, I was told $600. I said no way, I'm not spending that much. I was asked how much I thought it was going to cost and I replied around $300. Soo, all of a sudden, my new glasses were magically $300. They were very smart to mark them 40% off on the receipt so you weren't eligible for the free pair. It reminded of a sign I saw. " Buy one beer for the price of two and get the second beer absolutely free!" When my glasses came in, I couldn't see very well with them. I gave them a few weeks so I could adjust and all I got was headaches and strained eyes. I went back and told them the focal point didn't seem right. She adjusted it a bit and told me to try that. I did and it didn't help. I strain to read on the computer or t.v. I went back and they gave me another eye exam and said it was the same. He suggested another pair just for the computer. I took the prescription with me and have ordered a cheap pair on line. I do NOT recommend using this store. I now have another appt. made to get a new eye exam and will pay for another new pair of progressives with someone else. I will then throw these in the GARBAGE where they belong. read more
