We asked them to measure my pupillary distance and they just held a small ruler in my face, and blurted out a number that turned out to be incorrect. I have been going to this place for 18 years and I never had any issues until a few years ago there is a few associates who don't understand how to not interrupt someone while they are speaking or explaining something, I was quite last time, but today again it happened. Since moving to RI, I had been searching for my new optometrist. Initially I started with Eye Health RI but they were so inflexible and rude, I ended up not ever even seeing the doctor there. As I was driving around one day, I saw a sign outside this place that they take walk-ins, so I thought I'd give them a try. Right off the bat we started on the wrong foot. The front desk lady was snippy with me about not knowing my insurance number, and insisted multiple times that I did not in fact have the vision insurance that I knew I had. I had proof, and I was open to emailing it to her, and she persisted that I didn't know what I was talking about. Finally the rest of the office staff got in from lunch and another lady told Kathy or Karen or whatever her name was, that she was doing it wrong. Big surprise, I did in fact have the insurance I said I did. Wow. I finally got an appointment the next day with the optical doctor. When I returned for the appointment, I was checked in and waited in the waiting room for the tech to get me. They did the preliminary stuff and then I waited for the doctor. When the dr arrived, I was shocked. I'm also in the medical field, and I believe that professionalism extends to your speech, dress, presentation, and this all supports your client's trust in your capacity. This doctor was wearing a super tight, very short dress, with high heels, blue long acrylic nails, and false eyelashes with very excessive eye shadow. The way she dressed was very off-putting, almost like she was going clubbing instead of going to work, and was very unprofessional in my opinion. Once we got past that, I ordered some glasses. They finally came in, and they ordered the glasses wrong. After waiting more than a week for my very expensive frames, and carving out time in my work day to pick them up, they needed to be sent back. Super frustrating. Overall, a very negative experience, from check-in, to doctor, to eye glasses, to wait time. Perhaps I should have known that it was going to be a bad experience from the start and taken that as a sign that I should go elsewhere. Regardless, you can learn from my mistake and go elsewhere! Unprofessional, rude, disorganized, untimely, and inaccurate, this optical team leaves so much to be desired. I wish I could go back in time and go somewhere else. read more

I recently saw Dr. Quinn for an eye exam. I had some issues with my insurance and I assumed I would have to cancel and call them myself but the receptionist was so efficient and helped figure it out for me I was like wowed at the service... then the medical assistant who took me in was so detailed and friendly I never experienced such great customer service which is huge for me. But the doctor was by far my favorite she explained all of my medical issues with my eyes so well, you typically get doctors that say medical terms u don't understand and that scare u but not dr quin she explains things well and makes u feel relieved. I recommend this place for anyone on the island that needs a great eye doctor! 10 out 10! Recommending family to come here! read more

The opticians at Eye Health Vision Centers are superb. Always very gracious and accommodating. On numerous occasions I have needed to have my glasses either repaired, serviced under warranty, or just tweaked a bit to fit after months of use. I had to take a moment to write a review for Eye Health Vision Center in Middletown, but especially for Dr Autumn Jackson. The whole process took under 45 minutes (and I had some allergy concerns in addition to my contact lens exam), they had me in the room within 10 minutes. Dr. Jackson is so incredibly sweet and helpful. Nobody pressured me to buy anything in house which was nice. I ended up buying contacts online because of a rebate and Eye Health validated my prescription with that website under 24 hours after I ordered which was also awesome. I needed to order new contact lenses and new eyeglasses so I went to my Middletown Rhode Island Eye Health Vision Center office. The first lady at the counter, whose name I did not get quickly and efficiently, helped me get my contacts re-ordered and then stopped by the optician desk and met optician Jill Paasche. she was working with another lady at the counter and unfortunately I did not get her name that being said, Jill was an absolute pleasure and gave me excellent advice in choosing the proper lenses and frames. It was an excellent experience, and I couldn't be happier, and I highly recommend that office and those people. The entire office has always been helpful, efficient and courteous. They were great when they were a locally owned eye doctor office. Ever since they were purchased by a Massachusetts conglomerate they have been horrible to deal with. I must say that the optometrist i have seen there for several years has always been terrific. It's just getting to her that's beyond frustrating. The last straw came a couple weeks ago when I called and tried to make an appointment. I waited on hold for 20 minutes and when someone finally picked up she couldn't have been more rude. Apparently you can't even call the office directly, you can only call into a call center. Needless to say, I'm done. There are other options in Middletown that are not only locally owned but much more professional. read more

I recently decided to get an eye exam since I've been having a hard time reading smaller prints and labels and I found out my insurance covers the exam 100% and also covers one pair of glasses every 2 years so decided to get real glasses instead of using the reader's I'd picked up at Walmart! I hate making phone calls and any kind of appointments, but I sucked it up and called this place first and the receptionist was so nice and friendly on the phone. I got an appointment for a few days later and when I got there the person at the front desk was really friendly and helpful, gave me the paperwork to fill out, etc.. I was called in right on time and I the medical assistant or whoever takes your history and starts the exam was awesome, that went great and then the doctor came in, I had Dr Jackson and she was excellent as well. Once I was finished she gave me my prescription and I went over to the eyeglass section and started browsing, the employee over there was great as well, I gave her the paper and my insurance card and she showed me the selection of glasses that were covered, it wasn't a huge selection, but since they were covered 100% by insurance, it was good enough and I saw several pairs I liked and chose the pair that looked best, which I absolutely love. I would recommend this business to anyone, both the doctor and the staff were awesome to work with, I was in and out of there in about an hour and the entire experience was pleasant. read more

Recently, I had a small scare with my vision. It seemed blurry and I needed an appt. ASAP. I showed up without calling and was immediately treated at the desk with compassion and efficiency. The receptionist got me in promptly and gave me a sense of ease at a rather stressful time. The tech was amazing as well. She was efficient and seemed to really care about my eye. The Doctor showed up almost immediately after the Tech and proceeded to give me a thorough exam! I have now sent my family to them as well! My wife, myself and my elderly mother in law left here a few years ago, after it was apparently sold to investors who decided the best way to maximize income was to double book appointments and make people wait. After waiting an hour beyond our scheduled time, with an 86 year old getting more and more anxious, we left and took our records with us. We moved to Eye Care for RI and have never regretted it. My optometrist also left at that time. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Profits over people, apparently. read more

Obtained an eye exam, and then purchased two pairs of glasses from this provider, in the $400 range. I then went back to get my prescription so that I could pursue a pair online (which i know is frowned upon by providers, but frankly after $800 in business, I felt it was not too much to ask). I had to return for pupillary distance, which apparently is not included in the price of an eye exam. Upon paying them an additional $20 for pupillary distance, I now find out (two pairs of lousy online glasses later), from a different provider, that my pupillary distance is 4 mms larger than the number Eye Health provided me ... no wonder the online glasses were lousy. But I imagine that was the point. read more

I have previously been a patient there. Today I scratched up my eye, and I called hoping to get in to be seen. The person weho answered the phone was polite and gave me some options. I arrived on time, and was promptly seen 1st by a polite and friendly technician, then by the doctor. She reviewed all possible challenges, was thorough and professional, and got me in and out in less than 40 minutes. i have gone here for a few year and was satisfied but this time it has really changed the girls in the front are rude unhelpful they told me i couldnt be seen until i paid a five dollar fee i don't even know what it was for then the told me my insurance wouldn't cove my exam which i know is false then they made me wait 20 minutes because the chart i filled out wasn't directly in front of her and when i told them i was disatisfied with them they ripped up my chart and said we'll just get the next one. the whole time i was there 4-5 of them did nothing butlaugh and act very unprofessional. i can't believe the od's i know work there could know about this they should all be fired and get some professional helpful staff in there not vapid arrogant valley girls read more

I had a very bad experience here. I went there for the first time and asked about glasses my insurance would cover. The optician was kind and helpful but the staff was rude and very ignorant. All the staff did was laugh at me and made me cry. It made me feel like so horrible, like my questions weren't justified. I just wanted to know specifically what was covered and if I could add tinting, anti glare at my expense. I need both because my eyes are sensitive to the light and I also have a problem with driving at night so both are needed. Unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover either and I can't add it. If I do I have to pay for the whole thing myself. I can't afford to buy glasses but I'm better off staying with the ones falling about that are the wrong prescription then get glasses that I can't wear. I said I was going to wait until I talked to my insurance company myself. The staff, particularly the woman, 40ish with long greasy looking hair, laughed at me as well as rolled her eyes. She was terrible. She was rude from the moment I walked in. She looked me up and down and smirked so she was judging me as soon as I walked in. She should be fired for treating people so bad. She was also judging me because I have subsidized insurance. This is the first time I had to ask for help. I worked hard my whole life and am having a rough time now. She doesn't know my situation and has no right to discriminate against me or judge me. I gave them one star for the optician and no stars for the staff. I'll never go back there.
