As soon I walked in the door, I was greeted with we tried to call you to cancel your appointment. My number hasn't changed. I was then told that I had 30 days to get contacts from my GLASSES exam. I said How am I to know that it's not written anywhere. They couldn't provide me with a copy of that statement, so I grew frustrated naturally, I walked in the cold downtown to make an appointment. As I was upset, I glanced over and "Missy" who seemed to be the alpha, was smiling at my confusion and general frustration. Naturally, that wouldn't help anyone in distress. I feel the doctors there are nice, it's a shame the front office ladies will lose business for them. It's in the hands of the legal team. read more

My Ophthalmologist recommended Visionworks for an eye exam. Fine. I called the number to make an appointment. I was confronted with THE WORSE automated appointment system! It took me fifteen minutes of frustration and I THINK I made an appointment. Later something came up and I had to cancel. Attempting to cancel brought me to the lowest level of Dante's Hell of automated systems. After REPEATEDLY spelling my simple name and getting a bizarre response, REPEATEDLY entering my birth date, I gave up. I finally got a person. I am not exaggerating; I spent over 45 minutes struggling with that crummy automated appointment system. CLEARLY Visionworks doesn't care about its clients. PLEASE rip out that system!!!! read more

Hard to find but I got lucky and parked in the attached garage. They were nice from the beginning to the end. Eveyone was helpful and seemed to be a well oiled machine moving me along but arill making me comfortable. They are totally automated in that making a convenient appointment, getting updates on appointments, etc is easy and convenient to use. They are in the Fifth Avenue Building downtown which is undergoing renovations. One has to enter on Stanwix or Penn Ave at this time then snake through . There are many signs so very easy to get to. The exam was great. The doctor and associates are very friendly and helpful. I only needed contact lenses but they replaced a screw so I can wear my glasses at home if needed. I have been a patient at this location of Visionworks annually for several years. In previous years, Todd Shuba was my doctor, but this year, the doctor who was available on the day of my appointment was Justin Patterson, who has less experience but still did a good job. Dr. Patterson was courteous and spent time to make sure that my prescriptions for my contact lenses and glasses were precise as possible. The retail staff who assisted me with finding frames and processing my HSA payments were polite. Prices can be a bit more expensive than at some other stores, but I return each year for the quality of the eye exams and prescriptions. read more

I used to come here many years ago before I left Pittsburgh and discovered online options. My mother always gets her glasses here and they have a really nice selection. I came in to help my mom pick out some new frames. They have bold (my favorite), classic, and kids glasses that cover many designers, some high end. My mom got a pair of glasses that were simple in shape but have a black and white tortoise shell pattern at the top. Just the right pop to stand out. I, too, ended up getting some frames. I feel in love with a pair of black and white stripped Kate Spade cat-eye glasses. They are bold and fit my face well. Tina was a great help and so patient. My mom probably tried on 100 pairs over several visits and Tina helped her all along the way. Asked them to check your insurance to see exactly what you're covered for. If there is an in-store special, you can get that off of a second pair that's not covered by insurance. Our glasses came with a warranty for one year. Any glasses that are broken will be fixed free of charge. Tina also threw in some cleaning clothes and a nice case to our bag. I still love to get my glasses online but I think I will be returning here to get my pair covered by insurance. read more

I currently have eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses (both Rayban) and with my sight and rx, the prices are reasonable though I did have to pay some after insurance. The best part is the customer service. Giving FIVE stars to this establishment is not enough. The employees are all very well professional, helpful, and kind. I give a kudos and shout out to Jazmen. She was very sweet and patient with me. She along with the other employees were very kind to all of the patients who were at the office either ordering or picking up glasses. When I saw a recent ad staying that Visionworks has two pairs of "progressive lenses" for $89. I definitely and repeatedly questioned that. Jazmen assured me that was true - the real price. Progressive bifocals with NO line or NO moon shape markings in the middle of your lens. NO WAY I thought. I kept asking Jazmen, there has to be a catch. There is NOT a catch. I was very very surprised about the great PRICES st Visionworks. I have been to so many other places in the past where the very good deal for eye wear turns out to be a nightmare. Other places who advertise a great deal say if you want a non-line bifocal - you pay a couple hundred of dollars extra turning the great advertised deal into your bankruptcy. I got two very nice pairs of NON-line bifocals for $89. They do have a lot of frames to choose from with this great deal. PLEASE be aware that designer frames do not fall under this deal, which makes 100% sense. Also the doctors are very nice. They take their time with you and don't rush you in and rush you out. They are very professional. I definitely will be back!!!! read more

She provided me with any and all tools she could to get my out of pocket as low as possible, and didn't make me feel rushed at the last appointment for the day on a Friday. This is my third year in a row going to Visionworks downtown to get my exam and frames. I initially just went because they had the best deal with my insurance, but I became a repeat customer because they have a great selection and friendly staff who are helpful without being weird. They also have to Optomap option for your eye exam, which prevents you from having to get your eyes dilated if you don't want. My insurance will be changing soon, but I really hope Visionworks is still covered, because I'd prefer to keep going there. read more

The covid precautions and original shopping experience here was great. However, when I went to pick up my glasses today, I let them know I needed them adjusted. The woman bent them a little for me, used no tools. And then when I asked to have them tightened more she wouldn't and told me people usually come back later after wearing them a while. They 100% still need to be adjusted. Now I have to try and have it done elsewhere or try and make another appointment and hope I actually get assistance this time. read more

Honestly, I love the people at this location, they are all so incredibly nice! However after spending something like $400 on my exame and shiney new glasses, the hinge on the arm broke after just 20 months. My 1 year warranty was up, so instead of offering to replace the hinge they advised me to come and buy another pair. My previous pair of glasses lasted me 10 years; they might not be as cute as the more expensive ones, but at least they lasted. And my pair before THAT lasted me 7 years. I just don't have the money to spend hundreds on spectacles, only to have them break in under 2 years. I guess it's back to America's Best for me :( At least my prescription hasn't changed much, so I can wear my old glasses for now! read more

Visionworks is an irrisponsible franchise. My wife made an appointment over the phone and told them what sort of insurance we had. After my daughter had her appointment, we were informed that they didn't take our insurance. We aren't swimming in money. We could have used that $150 that we wasted on Visionworks. read more

Apparently Visionworks feels that people who have respiratory conditions, and have been ordered by their doctor not to wear a mask, are simply not entitled to see the world properly. They will make no accommodation, and will not even refer you to another optometrist who will give you the care you need. read more

I've been getting my regular glasses and sunglasses from Visionworks since they opened ten years ago. I have never had a bad experience with a vision test, choosing glasses or the finished product. I find the associates to be very helpful. They know what my insurance covers which helps me. They always have a great selection of glasses-including frames by Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Nike, Guess, and many others. Michelle is the General Manager and has been with the store since it opened. This is the third or fourth time that I have had my eye exam and purchase glasses through this particular VisionWorks location. Obviously, I am very satisfied with all aspects of my interactions. From an eye exam perspective, Dr. Shuba is thorough, and uses the latest technology. He is very professional, and addresses any questions/concerns raised in a way that anyone can understand. The sales associates are also equally nice to work with. This time, Jazmin assisted me in picking out frames, and handling the ordering of my glasses. She was friendly, and focused on customer satisfaction. There was a gentleman who helped me fill out my medical forms and such when I first arrived. He was also very polite and professional. Finally, the quality of the glasses are great. In the past, at other optometrists, I've had to have lenses re-made due to prescription issues, or measurement issues. I've had at least six pair of glasses made through this particular VisionWorks location, and never once have I had any issues with their lenses. As far as I'm concerned, they are top notch. I've been a Visionworks customer since 2016. Since then my hopes and expectations have been consistently exceeded. Today was no exception: After falling on my frames I needed to engage my 1yr replacement warranty. I could live without lenses for the 7-10 business days, but it would've been a struggle. I asked Jazmin if I could have a "loaner" and she found a way to use the same style on-hand to install my current lenses while I wait. Then her Mgr Michelle and other tech Kim worked to do a full swap warranty using the new frames and ordering only the lenses, which they'll install in the new frames I got same-day. I wouldn't expect this kind of way-making, and I don't think this is something they'd make a formal program out of doing, but it was a huge clutch save for me while I wait for the replacement lenses. I would not recommend this place if you have really bad vision or special vision needs. Unfortunately, it is the only place nearby that accepts my insurance. The staff was friendly and the hours are convenient, but I felt like the eye exam was done pretty quickly and not very thorough. They told me I had really bad astigmatism even though I never had it before and then when I got a trial pair of contacts I couldn't see at all, so I had to return to correct the RX. The next pair they gave me was also too strong, so I got really bad headaches. So now I'm back for a third time before they finally get the correct RX. I also told them beforehand that I've had similar problems and they eye doctor was very dismissive. read more
