I hired these folks to provide 9 hour per day, 7 day per week care for my dad after he had a stroke. When I contracted them, it was made repeatedly clear the CONSISTENCY in terms of the care givers provided was of paramount importance. In less than a week, Home Instead had sent at least ten different care givers. And was continuing to send new folks every few days. And what about those care givers? Some were truly amazing. Just wonderful. Others were positively dreadful. I mean, entirely unqualified. Let me give you some examples: We had one care giver who didn't have the courtesy to introduce himself to my parents or know the proper protocol for transferring my dad from bed to his wheelchair. It was in the care plan.. he just didn't bother to read it or couldn't retain what he read. We had another care giver who did her knitting while my wife washed the urine soaked sheets from my mom's bed. Another care giver couldn't distinguish ordinary orange juice from thickened orange juice, and had no experience with swallowing precautions but said it was OK because she "can read directions." These aren't just annoyances... they're safety issues. The management was singularly unresponsive. Its like they just didn't care. And when I cancelled them, because they couldn't provide the quality of care that my dad needs, they had the audacity to charge me a TWO WEEK cancellation fee. Seriously. That's THOUSANDS of dollars to cancel. No... I would not recommend Home Instead in Nashua NH based on my experience.

They took care of all her needs, including doctor's visits, two hospital stays, and finally helping out with the move. She loved quite a few of her caregivers, and they loved her. Trish especially was fantastic at being able to respond to my questions from 1,000 miles away, and did more than was required time and time again to help mom get to a safe and stable place. I could talk about the lack of care, and the filth from this unit, but I'll skip over that. I visited him almost everyday, getting him the things he needed since the nurses never did, and noticed an immediate, immense decline by day 2 of being in long-term. We thankfully moved him to a better facility, and come to find out, they had put him on a medication he did not need and had never taken in his life, which was making him into a zombie. He said this himself as well. It sucked the life out of him rapidly. Nobody had notified us of this new medication. The new nurses at the new facility agreed he shouldn't be on it and took him off immediately, and he's back to his normal self. We also found out that there had been inappropriate relations from a nurse/nurse aide. Despicable. If your loved one is here, ask for an updated med list. If they're not here, that's a blessing.

The meds she needed were ordered late and the health care kit showed up weeks later. When I switched Hospices providers they refused to coordinate the switching of equipment with the new provider even though they told us they talked to the new agency.
