This retirement community was supposed to be economical, safe, and convenient. Meals were supposed to be discounted, with many services like a shopping shuttle and medical transportation included. In truth, they could have lived in a bigger, more luxurious room at the Best Western down the street and eaten all their meals at a local restaurant for less money than they ended up paying. After move-in, the free shopping shuttle and medical transport were shut down because Friendsview "couldn't find a driver to hire". This, to my knowledge, has never been subsequently addressed. Their 500 sf apartment cost them $1200 per month, initially. They ended up cooking their own meals because meals were $12 each ($72 per day for 3 meals for 2 people). Eventually, my FIL had to go into the Friendsview memory care program, which was supposed to be a greatly discounted program for residents of Friendsview. Thereafter, the monthly rent and fees amounted to $3000. That did not include supplies used in the memory care unit. They were charged for every item supplied, every aspirin, and every latex glove at exorbitant rates. To add injury to insult, workers in the memory care unit mismanaged my FIL's medication. Because one of the medicines was causing him to slip into unresponsiveness , his doctor ordered it stopped. When he was found unresponsive a few days later it became apparent that he was being given the medication despite a note in his chart to stop that medication. My in-laws granddaughter is an RN, and when she questioned why the drug was still being given staff argued with her that it was doctor's orders. The financial burden was more than my MIL could sustain long term, so when my FIL died she moved out, abandoning the $150K buy-in money. Our experience is that these people are dishonest, uncaring, incompetent, and will squeeze every penny out of their clients that they can. Avoid this place like the plague.

It was an overwhelming time of change. I'm especially directing this review towards the hospice team that came into my patents's home to provide hands on care. We were very fortunate to have Alyssa, Trey, and La Sarita help us out. They were excellent communicators and very caring and competent. They exhibited great teamwork. They addressed our questions without making us feel like we were wasting their time. An additional note. After my Dad passed, just 13 days after entering hospice, my Mom did not want to sleep in her bedroom alone. Gracious Care Hospice made arrangements so we could keep my Dad's rented hospital bed so I could sleep next to her and hold her hand as she grieved the loss of her husband of 68 years. That act was outside of the hospice routine, but was a key to helping my Mom pass peacefully, 17 days later. Thank you, Gracious Care Hospice.

Because I live over 2,000 miles away, I needed to be certain that his caregivers were top-quality. I was 100% satisfied with my experience with Caregiver Connection. Caregivers who want to join Caregiver Connection must have experience and must be referred by a current member of Caregiver Connection. Caregiver Connection does background checks, several interviews, trains the caregivers, and solicits feedback from the people who employ them. Everyone I hired was excellent. Employing caregivers was new to me, and the staff at Caregiver Connection answered my many questions over the years. Thanks to Caregiver Connection, my dad received excellent care and I had a minimum of hassles/worries.

I had very little notice and had no idea how to do this. Caregiver Connection was so helpful every step of the way. Defining the job to be posted based on my husband's individual needs, helping me screen the applicants, setting up the schedule, etc, were all facilitated by the kind people at Caregiver Connection. The caregivers themselves were all wonderful (most with many, many years of experience), very reliable, friendly, and took excellent care of my husband until we could find a different living situation where his needs could be met. Even though this was a temporary job, each one gave it their full attention. I highly recommend Caregiver Connection!
