I have dealt exclusively with the ER. HR professionals in Salem have told me that when the Salem ER is slammed, it pays to go to the ERs in Silverton or Dallas. And I have been told that if I get a systolic BP over 200, to seek medical care. My first two visits, especially when I had hives from latex allergy, I could not have asked for faster or more civil and competent care. My last visit, when I measured systolic at 201 and felt as though I were dying, Dr. Houston burst into my examination room shouting that unless I had stroke or cardiac symptoms, I was to be denied treatment. I know that small-town hospitals are stressed because of recent legislation, and if he had only been civil, I would have understood, but as it was I left in a fury. I was given a code to register with their online chart system, but was denied entry because (I think) they have my telephone number wrong. I tried through their phone system to reach someone in records, but was balked at every turn. I'd have to. go in person to correct my records. Don't get me wrong, most of the staff are entirely satisfactory, but they have individuals that need a talking to, and their phone system should be made more transparent. And I'm only talking about the ER. read more

Suggest prospective patents beware. Here are just 3 examples why. 1. Earlier this year I had a chest X-ray there regarding a before indicated infection in the lungs. The image was taken on a Monday. I then asked when the results would be issued. The answer: either later that day or certainly by the next day. Whereas, the hospital did NOT notify my M.D until the following Monday. And the essential 'rub'? Already by the time of the X-Ray I had developed multi-focal pneumonia, hence an indefensible delay is being put on a correct anti-bacterial regimen! 2. It's known that OHSU hospital is a teaching institution. Meaning, patients are fully aware beforehand that may well be seen both by a M.D. resident in training, as well as her or his supervising M.D. No such circumstance pertains to this Silverton, Oregon hospital. 3. Now to the issues at hand. Last year I had two differently spaced ultrasounds to monitor a kidney stone. The first time the procedure was accomplished by a fully certified technician. The time to complete the scan was less than 20 minutes. Whereas, for the second one, it was only after about 20 minutes into the procedure that I learned the person doing the scan was a student in training. Too, that procedure took far longer than the prior one. Then, that individual stated that the "supervisor" needed to come in and check on the previous work done. The supervisor than had to 'redo' most of the prior work by the student. 4. Very recently I had occasion to schedule a different kind of ultrasound procedure. At least that time the person identified as a student at some such technical school and also asked it it'd be OK if that person performed the procedure. Very reluctantly I agreed, although briefly I referenced the prior student done--or at least attempted- ultrasound fiasco. Next, after this procedure again was taking an inordinate amount of time, I inquired how much longer to finish. The answer from the student? Only about 50% of the task was completed. At that point, I expressed dismay. Immediately thereafter, an on staff hospital technician took over. He then in comparatively short order then completed the scan. read more

Have always been satisfied with my experience. Convenient, professional and compassionate.

Front desk female with black hair in her thirties and wears too much makeup is one awful human. I've never seen such a level of unprofessionalism in my days. Of the two doctors that I had dealings with, they were similar to the front desk female the I dealt with. Utterly dismissive, condescending and impatient, in conjunction with being extremely unprofessional. One of them clearly had alcohol on his breath. I lived in Silverton but this hospital is the reason why I moved all the way to Lake Osewego so that I can access better hospitals due to my lingering health issues. The nearest hospitals to Silverton are in Salem. Make, the commute if you can; if not, then you have my deepest sympathies. read more

This is an update to my last review regarding my sister who was there Days before her bowel ruptured. When I did my last review she had been in ICU for a week, it is now six months later. She had been in ICU for months and is now in a rehab facility to finish her care and get PT to be able to walk again due to being bedridden in the Hosp for so long. She never once needed dialysis but since this she is now on three times a week. The rupture could have been avoided had this hospital called around to different hospitals until they found one able to take her. I live in a small community with a small hospital. If it is something we can't care for we call until we find a hospital who can take them. Life flight if necessary. I am not a Dr however even I know a bowel obstructions end in rupture. read more

I went into the ER and was seen by Dr. Wyn and Cece, the charge nurse. They were both extremely patient and kind. Despite a mishap with equipment/training on their end (which happen we are human) both the team and everyone involved did literally everything I think they could to mend the situation and I was able to get the care I needed. The hospital was clean and well taken care of and all of the staff were very nice. read more

I recently took my son to Legacy Emergency in Silverton, Ore. He went in to see the doctor (Bohrer-Clancy) alone. We took him in for extreme stomach pain. After leaving the hospital he told me that the doctor wasn't very kind. He said the doctor seemed 'seemed' a bit arrogant, wasn't too interested in hearing my son's feelings/thoughts, told him to lay down and, evidently, my son was taking too long so the doctor verbally pushed him, saying 'come on! let's go!" (like my son was taking up his time). This made my son feel uneasy and nervous. I tried to find a patient feedback form online but the hospital only sometimes sends out feedback forms. My son now says he doesn't want to go back there. This doctor (Bohrer-Clancy (I'll leave out his first name) must have failed his bedtime manner class. read more

From the day I and my twin were born, we have always trusted and loved the Silverton hospital . We have tried out other hospitals and have hated the experience, but not here. Mom, 88 yo, was admitted to ER 5/9/23 leaving 6 hours later. She was rushed in and treated like a queen. Her entire team was professional, kind, answered our questions, brought her warm blankets, thoughtfully provided her with panties and scrubs, twice, for comfort, listened to her concerns and made sure she was comfortable and pain free. We are beyond grateful for these amazing people for treating mom with respect and dignity. Linda C checked mom in, sweet Anna C, triage, giant John G was the best security guard, Megan I was mom's beautiful RN, Marie, super fun IV tech, Ryan and Heather covered mom's CT scan and Dr. James Jensen was the best. This is one of two medical places that I would highly recommend. Every time I have dealt with them,( on the phone or in person) I have been treated with respect and compassion. From the emergency room to regular Doctor (Jennifer Stevens) and all the staff and even advice nurses. They are truly there to make your time with them as pleasing and comfortable as they can.
