As a Nurse Practitioner, I look at facilities with a critical eye. Nicely laid out on one level, made it more manageable for the population they serve. Small and immaculately clean without any flowery fragrances covering other scents. Spring Arbor had all the prerequisites we were looking for. Small, immaculately clean, happy residents, and a caring, competent nursing staff. Their on site nurse exhibited a high degree of professionalism and caring for the residents She answered all questions thoroughly and we felt comfortable recommending this facility.

My grandmother was here for three years and she recently left to go to a nursing facility. 20…read moreminutes after being transferred she was examined by the head RN of the nursing facility and he found multiple bedsores on feet and buttock. According to him these are easily preventable and a minimal expectation from an assisted living facility. Every time I visited my grandmother for the last year, she smelled like feces. Her adult diapers were not being changed enough. She had the highest and most costliest level of care and still the stench of her room was almost unbearable even in the hallway. Additionally, she and my grandfather were billed for many weeks after his death and her transfer to hospital and nursing home even though the Director said she would "work with us". When my mother called this director her calls were not returned by the director or assistant director for at least a week (this is still pending). The husband and wife physicians that cover this assisted living facility would not return calls to the medical power of attorney (my Uncle) for more than 6 months and would bill for suspicious Medicare charges without clear documentation of services being provided or even necessary. I would avoid this facility at this time---Summer 2013.
