I finally made it here for lunch after hearing so many good things and reading so many great reviews. I guess it was Momma who was running the place. I fold her it was my first time in and she explained how it all works. There are plenty of tables and chairs so you grab a menu, place your order with Momma, then she prepares your order, wraps it to go, even if you are eating in, collects your money and you're good. Such a good looking menu, with many great options. Some of the salads looked so good but I decided to go with the avocado burger with swiss on a kaiser roll. The meat patty was huge and it was quite a meal. The swiss cheese was just out of this world fresh and great flavor. Momma told me she gets all her bread and cheese from a distributor from Manhattan. It's a very down home vibe, with lots of family photos on the wall. It'c clear Momma has the New York connection going on. I'l def be trying this place again soon. read more

I was in town for a funeral and my cousin and I yelped this place. So we stopped in... This place was bbbuuusssyyyy! Folks didn't stop coming... We had to wait a while to be seated. Place is a little small.. The woman who was helping us was very helpful.. She was shaking and moving.. It was 7 of us. We eventually was seated and ordered..... Bbbaaabbbbyyyy, that food was right on time... The fish was fried nice with seasoning.. the grits were cooked well.. The food was fantastic, service was even better! Tons of smiles! Ruby was our server and she is very sweet, so far we have sat down and within no time was able to order drinks, receive then and clean utensils...that's always something to appreciate nowadays with the inconsistency in most places. The smells coming from the kitchen were mind boggling...yum! We were so excited to try this new spot we found thanks to the coupon book from the local elementary school. "Momma" came out with ruby and brought our food, which looked five star! Mid-way into eating momma paid us another visit making sure we were okay and asked if we needed anything, her jersey accent tickled me. THE WATER IS FILTERED!!! Eggs were perfect! This place gets a 5-star. If I could give more stars, I would. I got an Italian sausage, eggs and pepper jack cheese sandwich on a roll for breakfast. Then for lunch I got a western or southwestern omelette with fries and toast. I going to make a mean sandwich with that. So freaking good. I came to Rock Hill to cover a property and wanted breakfast. The realness of the young lady that worked with me was second to none. Freshly made everything. We had great dialogue. Tried this place because Rock Hill Deli was closed for vacation. Not much good to say except it literally feels like Momma's place - Momma cooking and kids watching. I hope they can hire actual cooks and let momma run court over the operation as it will close if she can't get some actual help. First time, got the Italian sub which was listed as a popular menu item on yelp. The sweet red bell pepper made this sub standout, extraordinary! Bread meat and cheese was as a notch above too. Prices are modest compared to the local sub chains. Only thing I didn't care for was it was take out only, even though they have tables. Staffing issue perhaps? In either case, I'm skipping the normal chain sub shops in the future to see what else in on the menu and support this small local shop. This place serves everything with French Fries. Who ever heard of having breakfast with French Fries? They do not have decaf coffee but will not let you bring in yours from your car. I wound up ordering a bagel and with tip, it was $5, that was without a beverage. Totally disappointed with this place. I wasn't impressed with the meals served to others in my group. read more

My girlfriend and I just ate here today. The service was great and most of the food was delicious. Before we left, I asked the head chef if a piece of my chicken tender was cooked. She informed me that it was. I still have that piece of chicken and took a picture of it. I consumed half of the tender. I am praying that I don't get sick. When I sent the photo of the piece of chicken on Facebook, she claimed that the chicken looked cooked when I showed it to her. Please avoid this place. Horrible experience. The lady acted upset that I even came in the door. She literally yelled at me and said "If you plan to eat in here, order here!" Pointed to a ripped up menu. Saturday morning for breakfast. Pictures show a NY bagel....these came from Food Lion down the street! Plain! Slow service and the coffee percolator ran out with only one small cup of coffee! Still perking when we left...nice family is the reason for two stars! The decor is pictures of the family...almost over bearing! Music was very loud for breakfast! Would not recommend. Breakfast and lunch in rock hill. Across from ebinport elementary, mommas place is quite small but great things sometimes come in small packages. It has about a half dozen tables or so. It just runs for breakfast and lunch and when we went they closed at 1:00. Of course all the standard breakfast fare is represented except to my surprise home fries, the choices of breakfast potato are tater tots or fries. I ordered eggs, bacon, tots, and Canadian bacon all of which was good. My wife got an egg and bagel sandwich and a cannoli to go, both of which she said were "authentic" and just awesome. Pricing is also very good with most menu items being under $10. In all a very good experience. If you're looking for breakfast or lunch and you're in the area I definitely recommend stopping in. read more

I ordered a New York bagel with eggs and ham. I'm from NY and this place made me feel like I was back home. The bagel was a NY original and the eggs and ham were done just right. The waiter was very attentive. We were waited on immediately and had refills on the regular. I ordered a cannoli to go. It was also a NY original. The restaurant was like a diner. The only good thing to say about this place for breakfast is that it is clean and the service is good because nobody goes there. Their breakfast menu is so sparce it is a joke. The only potatoes they offer for breakfast are french fries, no hash browns or home fries. I'm not into grits but I don't believe they have them. There is nothing sweet like pancakes or French toast. We asked for a crispy bacon omelet with cedar cheese. No cheddar just American and they had the bacon (almost raw) on the side. The "silver" ware is plastic and doesn't even match with a white knife and black fork. Coffee is served in paper cups. Three is an egg sandwich and one or 2 other items on their breakfast menu. After waiting an hour and ten minutes I finally pulled up to the window where they had forgotten about me. After paying 45 dollars for an omelette. A bagel. And a grilled cheese....not ONE item was actually edible. Missed my wives lunch break and once I got there (1.7 miles down the road) not one thing tasted like it came from my mommas place. Stopped in for a quick lunch at about 11:30 on a weekday because we wanted to try a place that is convenient and not a chain. The waiter was attentive and friendly, but the food was mediocre. I had a BLT on rye toast. All the ingredients were skimped on except the mayo. Basically, I had two slices of rye toast smothered in mayo, with two slices of bacon, and tiny amounts of tomato and lettuce. My daughter ordered a grilled provolone cheese sandwich with fries. The cheese sandwich was okay, but neither of us has ever, ever tasted such over-salted fries in our lives. They were inedible. We each had one, and left the rest. It also took 25 minutes to get a cup of coffee. I sort of expect a place that advertises coffee in the window to have a pot ready. Finally, a woman who I think was either the owner or the manager was talking to the employees and other customers so loudly and constantly that when I took received a phone call, I had to go outside to hear it. I won't be going back. I hope the waiter finds a better place to work. I did leave him a good tip. read more

A friend and I stopped by for lunch yesterday, we were in the mood for a hot dog. We ordered the chili dog with fries, what a good choice! The hot dogs were huge and seriously tasty, the homemade chili was perfect with the fresh bun. The French fries were awesome!! The sweet tea was definitely sweet, which I personally love! The staff was friendly and courteous to our needs, it's hard to find that in larger restaurants, nowadays. I am looking forward to taking my wife by soon for breakfast or an early lunch.
