Dr. Murray is awesome! I was very glad to have found her. Going to the vet is always very stressful on animals. It helps so much to have the option of a home visit. I filled out the new client form on the website and got an email reply from Danielle the receptionist the next day offering an appointment Monday of the next week! That's less than a week between contact and appointment. The appointments have a one hour arrival window which I'd say it's pretty great! (I've had house maintenance appointments that were four hour long arrival windows...) The next day I got another email for the appointment confirmation. You have the option of clicking on a link, emailing, calling or texting to confirm the appointment. It's all very clear and easy and I love how there are so many options. The actual visit went well. Cats do what they want and will let you know through physical means if they are upset. Major kudos and thanks to Dr. Murray for being so patient and kind even when I cannot say the same about my cats. Dr. Murray is full of great information! While my cats are overweight she was very polite communicating the need for them to slim down for health reasons and how to do it. No starvation diets. I didn't feel shamed for letting them get overweight. Dr. Murray listened. As a pet guardian you know your pets best and how they will react to strangers and vets. She had many suggestions on lifestyle changes that could be done to improve my pets' well being including the Seresto collars need to be changed every 5 months vs 8 months because the fleas in this area are robust! Price wise I think it's well worth the money! For the two cats to get their rabies vaccines, exam, one of the cats to get a cortisone shot it came out to about $600. I'd gladly pay that to avoid the stress of stuffing a cat in a carrier, driving to the vet, waiting who knows how long, and the aftermath of coming home. (For reference at a vet in Suisun I paid over $400 and it took two trips for new dog vaccines and an exam.) Dr. Murray really made the vet process so much smoother and less stressful. I'm very glad to have found her and to now be in her client list. read more

We found Dr. Murray through a Google search when it became difficult for our senior German Shepherd to get in out of the car to go to a traditional vet. Dr. Murray helped us manage our dog's pain over the course of two years until it came time to say goodbye, which unfortunately was yesterday. My husband and I struggled making this decision, as our dog was declining but still eating and showing signs of affection. Dr. Murray was so kind and compassionate and reassured us we were giving our dog the best gift, which was to end her life humanly. The entire process was very calm and peaceful. As someone who has never had to do this before, I had no idea what to expect and was expecting the worst. Although it was incredibly hard to say goodbye to our beloved dog, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I feel very much at peace with our decision. It's wonderful to have in-home vet care for my older cats, especially the one who is afraid of people. Dr Murray handled them both very well, with thoroughness and great kindness. I appreciate that she explained everything she was doing, teaching me along the way how to check for arthritis and other changes to their bodies as they are aging. She also helped me develop a nutrition plan to address some health issues they're having. Her assistant, Anna, was really on top of things, and I like that she offered her own opinions and experiences, as well. Dr. Murray's admin, Danielle, is super responsive to messages and helpful with giving me all sorts of information. Dr. Murray was wonderful with the phone appointment we had about my 10 year old American Pitbull Terrier who has stage 4 Kidney Disease. She was very empathetic and gave me information on how to enhance her diet. She told me what to do for her pain and many other suggestions to make her more comfortable with the time she has left with us. She said I can text her with any questions and to send a video to show how Liberty is doing. I highly recommend Dr. Murray. She is a mobile veterinarian who will also be with us when it is time to let Liberty leave this world. Liberty has had this disease for 2 years . I have another vet who has done well to get us this far, but as Liberty has progressed with this disease I was seeking out a Veterinarian who could help with her end of life care. I would give Dr. Murray 100 stars if I could. She was the only vet that was understanding and helped. I tried to get a solution from my regular vet who I have been going to for 30 years with all of my pets and they were not helpful (very disappointing). Dr. Murray was beyond helpful and informative and also had the problem resolved that same night even though my appointment was after 5pm. Mud (4 year old chocolate lab) is already 90% better and able to walk on all fours. It has not even been 24 hr and based on her suggestions he is improving. Allergies are a tricky situation but she was great! I am extremely relieved I found her and will be making all of the next vet visits with her. She had better suggestions than the allergy specialist I had visited in the past. I can not thank her enough and I am so relieved my little guy is no longer miserable. read more

I'm glad to hear others had better experiences with Dr. Sybil Murray than I did; mine a few years ago was an utter nightmare, or in her own words, "torture"...Ms. Murray seemed compassionate on one level, and insensitive on others, but overall quite ill-prepared and unable to perform a home euthanasia that enabled my beloved 17 year-old cat to die pain-free and with any peace or dignity...I suggest you go elsewhere for this service. The Deets: I'd explained Ms. Pearl's situation in detail over the phone when making the appointment a few days prior, but when Dr. Murray arrived she seemed uninformed and made assumptions that added discomfort to an already painful situation. She also appeared to be in a hurry (it was late afternoon on a Friday) and brought her equipment in a rattly old plastic box, which made loud noises each time she opened or closed it; not a huge deal, but it startled my cat several times and seemed an odd choice. She had trouble finding a vein, and poked my darling over and over. I asked her to wait in another room while the shots took effect, and said I'd come tell her when it was time for the final injection, but she kept coming in the bedroom to check and repeatedly scared Pearl and my other cat. I could go on, but suffice it to say that what should have taken 30 minutes total by the doctor's estimation became over an hour of multiple attempts to administer injections while her competence decreased and her (and my and my cat's) distress increased to an almost unbearable degree to where she kept saying "this is torture, this is torture" and I couldn't help but agree...maybe her drugs were old? I don't know. I wanted to throw her out but it's not the kind of thing you halt mid-process.....so it went on and on and on until she finally pronounced my darling as 'deceased,' took her money and fled. In fact, Pearl's heart kept beating for another 20-30 minutes after Dr. Murray left... Her condolence card a couple weeks later was likely intended as a thoughtful gesture, but adding me to her email list was just plain clueless...like I said, somewhat compassionate, somewhat insensitive. Given the wrenching experience and the fact she didn't know me or my cat, her comments as to the quality of my relationship with my pet completely missed the mark and ruined the intended effect--after admitting you've tortured someone's dying pet, don't presume they'd like to hear from you again at all, much less be subjected to your thoughts on how their pet felt about them! I was hoping for a gentle end to a life well-lived for my beloved companion in our home, and it took a few years to stop beating myself up for hiring someone who essentially made my pet's last hour with me a tortured mess. read more

I think Dr. Murray is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She met me on what was certainly one of the worst days of my life - the day I had to put my 16 year old kitty Monkey the Wondercat to sleep after a two-year fight with congestive heart disease. She came to our home as quickly as she could (maybe 3 hours after we called and a whole day before anyone else that we contacted could have made it), and when she arrived, she was completely empathetic and calming at the same time. She let me know I was making the right decision and didn't try to get me to spend a lot of money to extend Monkey's life for days or maybe a couple weeks. There was clearly nothing we could do to extend his life with dignity and without pain, and she only reinforced that for me in the nicest way possible. To make matters worse, we had a death in our family the day before we had to make this decision for Monkey's sake. So we weren't exactly in our best state of minds to make major decisions, and we were complete messes. I can't tell you what a relief it was to have Dr. Murray come to our home, comfort us and let us know we were making the correct choice. A couple weeks after Monkey passed, Dr. Murray sent us a hand-written card conveying her condolences. And she even hand delivered his ashes to us later. What more could you ask of a person in this bad situation? I have actually worked in a veterinary hospital before, so I know from first-hand experience how callous and blase veterinarians can become about euthanasia. I think they become that way so they don't feel sad and depressed about their day every time they have to do it...which is somewhat understandable. Dr. Murray was not like that at all. She was emotional and very present for what was happening, but she wasn't over-emotional. She was just sincerely sad for us and what we were going through, while at the same time helping us as best she could. I hate the thought of other people going through what we did, but if they were in the same position, I would tell them to call Dr. Murray without any hesitation. read more

Dr. Murray and Karina (vet tech) are awesome. They have been taking care of my cats for about 3 years after i decided to part ways with the Hercules Clinic. Both cats are lousy patients - one struggles and howls like she is being drawn and quartered; the other is unusually fearful. They are treated kindly, patiently, and i always get great suggestions for improving their well-being. One of my kitties has feline calicivirus and needed 4 teeth removed - all done in the comfort of my home. Prices are reasonable for housecalls, and they don't try to sell you unnecessary meds or procedures. Absolutely the best. read more

It's taken me a long time to be able to write a review about my experience with this vet because I am still so emotional about my cat dying. The shining light in the horror of having to euthanize my pet was Dr Murray. She came to my home the same day I called them sobbing. She was so calm and loving my cat did not run from her. She spent some time with him and with me, and basically I feel like she also provided me with grief counseling during one of the hardest moments of my life. It was well worth the $400 to have that experience at home with her because she really made that memory be as good as it could be. It was worth the price to have my cat be okay instead of terrified in a car and in a clinic (he hated vet offices as most cats do). It was so peaceful. She knew exactly when to leave and knew exactly what to say. She definitely is a master of the art of the death experience, and considering how painful it is to lose a dear loved one, that is a wonderful talent. I really appreciate her. I hope I don't have to see her for a long time (we got a new cat shortly after Rincu died), but when I need to, I will know exactly who to call. read more

Dr. Murray patiently diagnosed my dog, Poppy, and she gave her genuine, compassionate care. This was my first visit by Dr. Thompson. My cats get so stressed everytime I take them to the vet. My scaredy-cat, Missy, was under her quilt on top of my bed when Dr. Thompson showed up so he gave her annual exam right there on the bed. We started using visiting vet over 12 years ago. I wouldn't consider going to anyone else now. Sybil and her staff show the kindness and knowledge that I've seen many other veterinarians lack. Her caring is incredible. I truthfully don't know what I would do without her. I also use your online store to get my pets medications which is so easy to use it's incredible. You know how some sites you go and you need to get something and you can't find it because you have to go through all these other places but not the store that Sybil has. You just type in what you need and there it is. And if it's a medication that needs approval it goes straight to her and she will approve it if it's what she's ordered for your animal. if I could give her 10 Stars I would. If you can accept that the services of a mobile vet cost on the order of twice what you'll pay at a drive-to clinic, then I DO recommend Dr. Sybil Murray of MobileVetCal. When you factor in travel times and the fact that a mobile vet will, almost by default (i.e., due to the unique circumstances (home) under which your animal will be examined...never an assembly line and not 'just one more pet'), it works out to be a pretty good deal for you...AND for your pet. You can verify Dr. Murray's extensive background on line. She is a graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. What especially impressed me about her is that she understands that she's not just caring for your pet...she's also caring for YOU, the pet owner! I've been through a few cats but have never had one who didn't HATE being taken to a vet. It was always an anxiety-plagued experience for me and the cat. I recently had to deal with the loss of my beloved twelve year-old tomcat. Dr. Murray rearranged her schedule on short notice to make that experience as good as it could have been. And, although it was still very sad (we animal lovers never learn), it would have been incalculably worse had I been forced to transport the sick animal to a local clinic to spend his final minutes frightened by (and in) unfamiliar surroundings. Eventually I WILL adopt another cat and, when it needs medical attention, I will call Dr. Murray. My only suggestion (not meant as criticism) is that Dr.Murray update/upgrade her Web site to include a schedule of fees. I have a very sick cat and after a week of hospitalization I needed to euthanize her and my vet could not come to the house in the next few days so I searched online and found this supposed vet. I called at 9:00 am and got voicemail so I left a message explaining my situation. Called again at 10:00 and got voicemail again. Called again and left another message. It is now 5:30 and I have yet to receive a call back. If you have a sick animal please don't waste your time with this place. They are idiots at best. Actually they pretty much suck. read more

We also had chickens and two cats. Dr. Murray helped us bring several of our dogs into the world, helped us keep them healthy, and stood by our side when they got old and sick. She's honest and compassionate. She makes you feel like your animals are the most important pets in the world -- whether they are purebred or not. I live in Vallejo and recently had a horrible experience with the Vet just a block and and a half away on Tennessee Str. I found the Dr there to be funneling through so many animals at once that she gives you very little time and attention for your pet. She didn't listen to much of what I said and she also immediately prescribes drugs. This combination of being over busy and disconnected to the patient led to the misdiagnosed of my cat which in turn almost led to her death due to drugs she prescribed. That after a full panel of blood tests as well which of course were incredibly expensive as well! Her solution - more of the same drugs and a very expensive daily treatment. or the other option was to put her down. My cat was near death but I brought her home anyway as at this point I'd lost full confidence in this vet. In looking for a home vet I found Dr Sybil Murray and with her help my cat is now thriving just one short month later and all it took was an adjustment to her diet. Dr Murray came to my home and sat with me for more than 2 hours asking all about my cat and really getting to know her. I noticed the difference right away. The Vet on Tennessee kept saying things like "with these kinds of cats" lumping my cat in some kind of general category since she couldn't focus long enough to really know what animal she was treating. Dr Murray on the other hand treats your pet as the individual that they are. By listening to her history and spending the time Dr Murray was able to diagnose my cats problem correctly. What's more, the vet bill from Dr Murray was 1/10th the cost of the bill from the Tennessee street vet and she diagnosed my cat correctly and my cat is now thriving. I cannot say enough about her compassionate, caring and gentle technique and all this in the comfort of your own home at no additional cost than a tradition vets office. For that reason alone I'd recommend a home vet as it's so much less stressful for your pet to be treated in their home environment. And to have the added bonus of a vet with many years of experience and a wonderful bedside manner. It hasn't even been 48 hours since they visited but I have to YELP! LOL! One of my dogs who'd had different problems in his young 7 years started rapidly declining. I took him to one Animal Hospital and he was tested by a "traveler," someone from out of the area that comes to our state for the higher pay. She made a number of incorrect observations right off the bat. When making the appointment, I had to ask if I should bring in a "sample" of anything and the receptionist responded, "Well...I don't know. Yeah, I guess that might be ok." It was downhill from there. I KNOW my dog and he was suffering from symptoms that had no quick fixes nor a guaranty of success for healing but definitely would feature suffering and more pain. I made the horribly difficult decision of putting him down as he was failing rapidly. I called the same clinic and a different receptionist said they would likely not euthanize a dog who was so young (without knowing his history even!). I called his initial vet out of desperation and quickly related the gory details and was put on hold by a giggling receptionist who asked if she could call me back because there was a caller on the other line who "had a lot of questions." O.M.G. A wonderful person from work copied Dr. Murray's YELP reviews and gave me their phone #/website. Within moments of contacting them, I had an appointment in my OWN HOME. I filled out a simple online history and sent it off. They arrived right on time,less than 24 hours later, fully prepared with everything needed, included compassion and understanding as I was an emotional wreck...Ok. Sobbing loudly. They gave him a relaxing, comforting injection and I could TELL IMMEDIATELY he was happier than he'd been for months. Another brief injection minutes later and he literally just relaxed his way painlessly and humanely to Dog Heaven. I. Can. Not. Express. My. Gratitude. Enough. Dr. Murray & Debbie were incredible and heaven-sent for me and my beloved friend. Thank you x 1,000,000!! I now know they offer other services and plan to go to them FIRST, period, for all my pet issues. Like I shared with them, to me, a good VET is even more valuable than a good car mechanic; once you find one, you've struck GOLD. And Gold, these women both are. Thank you, again! read more

I would NEVER under any circumstances recommend Sybil Murray for putting a dog to sleep. We talked to her and her assistant several times and made an appt 7 days in advance and a time of 4:30 pm. She assured us she would be here and everything would be smooth. We had a beloved Golden Retreiver that had a rare bone cancer and all our family and friends were heart broken. We spent the final day saying goodbye and preparing as well as possible. Murray was an hour late. No phone call, no excuses, just not here so inconsiderate and uncompassionate at such an emotional time. Not only that, when they arrived in a small car they decided that was a good time to clean out their trunk In preparation for removing him. They were completely unprofessional and unaware and uncaring of our feelings during a most difficult time. Also he weighed over 100 lbs which was clearly stated. They wouldn't have been able to pick him up and I feel it is completely unreasonable to expect family members to do so. read more
