    Burbur!
    Jan B.

Amazing.. I've been taking my dear Cat (Burbur) here for almost three years. We had him neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, you name it.. I'm flabbergasted at the quality and attention to detail this hospital provides. Dr. Bock, Karen, Cindy, Cheryle were present with my cat's recent hospitalization. Dr. Bock was very thorough with Burbur's examination. She elucidated my options with the treatment plans. Dr. Bock contacted me via phone call daily to check up on Burbur. My cat is doing well now thanks to everyone. I am very happy and have nothing but good things to say. Thank you always for the excellent care! -Jan

From the moment I called and then when we arrived shortly after, they were caring, understanding, and genuinely invested in Duke's well-being. The team reallt went above and beyond to help ease my nerves, explaining everything in a very calm, thorough, and easy-to-understand way. IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY, GO HERE!!!!…read more I hardly write reviews, let alone one this long, but after everything that happened, I feel like I owe it to this team. My cat, Theodore, suffered a rectal prolapse on a Sunday. It was one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever been through. He was in excruciating pain, vomiting, having diarrhea, yelping, and literally had tissue protruding from his body. I genuinely thought I was going to lose him. Before finding Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin, I called well over ten emergency veterinary hospitals throughout Marin and San Francisco. Every single one either had wait times ranging from hours to over ten hours, couldn't perform surgery for days, or simply didn't have the staff to take another emergency. I was driving from place to place and calling anyone I could think of while watching Theodore continue to suffer. By that point, I felt completely helpless. Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin was the only hospital that could take him almost immediately. Within minutes of arriving, he was being evaluated and prepared for surgery. After spending hours hearing "no," finally hearing someone say they could help was something I'll never forget. What impressed me even more was the quality of care. Every single person I interacted with -- from the reception staff, to the nurses, to the discharge team, to the veterinarian -- was compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly communicative. They never made me feel like I was asking too many questions, and they took the time to explain every step of Theodore's care. Theodore had been dealing with a complicated medical situation for months that involved a lot of uncertainty. Their team quickly helped me understand what was happening and what needed to happen next. For the first time in months, I finally felt like I had answers and that Theodore was in the right hands. One thing that really stood out to me was that the care didn't stop when we walked out the door. The follow-up from the doctor and staff has been incredible. Recovering from an emergency like this is overwhelming, but they continued to answer my questions, check in, and make sure Theodore was doing well. I'm happy to say that he's recovering very well, and I'm beyond grateful for everything they've done for both of us. I genuinely cannot thank this team enough. They were there when no one else could be, and I'll never forget that. If your pet is having an emergency, I cannot recommend Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin highly enough. I truly don't know what would have happened if they hadn't been there. The only thing I wish is that they offered primary veterinary care, because after this experience I would enroll Theodore there in a heartbeat. Thank you to everyone at Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin for taking such incredible care of my little boy. I'll always be grateful.

They were so kind, as we said goodbye to our tiny boy that we had bottle fed and raised from birth. The in house diagnostics are great. We didn't have to wait long at all for the test results. The 2nd time, we brought in our elderly girl. She was 16. When her vet turned us away when we came to tell them we were coming in (they told us "maybe tomorrow"), we headed here. She'd been sick a while, we knew it was coming. Of course, that didn't make it any easier. The staff here was absolutely wonderful. As soon as we walked in, they took us out of the lobby so we wouldn't have to sit with all the happy/healthy animals. They didn't question us, they saw her and told us we were making the right choice. They brought her a soft cat bed to lay in. They gave us all the time we needed to hold her and love her, until we were ready. No pressure. Then they allowed my 16 year old daughter to hold her beloved girl until she was gone. We were allowed more time with her. Then they gave us each a vile of her beautiful fur. We weren't rushed. We did everything on our terms/time. And our girl left this world surrounded in love. I would 100% recommend PETS Referral Center. I hope we never have to go back. But, we would of we had too.

The team put me in a room where I could talk with my family and make a decision with them (since I was dog sitting and everyone else was out of town). While the decision needed to be made quickly about next steps, they were empathetic and patient with us. We opted to put our girl to sleep; she was in a lot of suffering. They worked up an estimate that was quite large. The estimate had a low end and high end numbers. Veronica sat with me and explained each charge along with how and when it may apply. We played around with the numbers to help us fit it within an easier budget. Veronica was very thorough, patient and informative. My baby was sick so we had to do something. I left my pet with them to be treated while hospitalized. Unfortunately, I did not know exactly how sick she was. Within a matter of a short period, diagnostics came in with not so good news that left us with two options. Neither of which I was prepared for. After hearing the extent of my babies sickness, it was evident we needed to set her free. As painful as those words and that decision was, it had to be done. We drove back to that hospital to be with our baby. Sage has a special room just for the letting go process. Although we were not ready to say goodbye, we appreciated the quick return on labs and such, that gave us the answers needed to make the right decision for our girl. If you have been trying and struggling to piecemeal answers for your ill pet, I'd suggest going to this one stop shop. They have the doctors, staff, equipment and specialists on hand to get you the answers your pet and your family deserves. We love you Tabitha and miss you greatly. Instead of acting quickly, the receptionist was incredibly rude and told me to wait for a nurse just to decide "if they could stay or not." I ended up waiting for over 40 minutes. While I was waiting, three other clients walked in, and all of their animals were taken back to see a nurse immediately. When I questioned the staff about this, they claimed the other animals were emergencies. How are 4 starved and dehydrated kittens not considered an emergency? What makes this worse is that this place is supposed to work with local animal shelters, yet they couldn't care less about these rescue animals when it actually mattered. It felt like because these were rescues and I wasn't a standard high-paying client, they didn't want to bother helping them. A veterinary hospital should care about saving animal lives, regardless of where they came from. The lack of care, terrible communication, and rude behavior at the front desk are completely unacceptable. Avoid this place if you actually have a real emergency.

I had spent the night debating if I should take my Pug in or not- for potential Aspiration Pneumonia- (wet loud barking sound) and how they can go from better to bad at day 3-7! Anyways, I tried my vet first in the AM and she had explained that they needed X-rays and to hold her - would maybe need to be put under- and for a brachiocephalious dog- if she took a turn while under(wet lungs) they would NOT have what they need to save her- ie oxygen etc to intubate her. So, my Doc made notes and sent over to them, while I headed over. Was greeted by very friendly staff in a clean tidy spacious space. It was probably 8:30am. I was the only customer. Saw Dr Anderson who went over her history of the many recent things that got us to this moment. She did a quick Sonogram? To look at her lungs to see if she could see foreign matter in her lungs. Yes. They were able to do X-rays and not put her under. They were able to discover this GI issue we have been trying to solve- which put her on rice and cottage cheese which led to it in her lungs- and then this Xray. They prescribed Amoxicillin and cans of a Hill's Rx diet. She just finished all that and really has been doing better each day that passes. I just really appreciated the Doctor's thoughtful process and everything we needed for success. She was luckily on the upswing. *This is the Modern ER for your pets. I previously thought this was only an ER and did not know this existed. If your pet has a special condition, like Cushing's or Addison's, I highly recommend that you see Dr.Wang, in addition to your regular vet. My dog was diagnosed with Cushing's and nearly died from being overdosed on medication from our previous vet, who was not a specialist. Although our vet spoke as if he was knowledgeable and performed regular testing, we discovered he did not know how to treat this condition. Because of the overdose, my dog now has Addison's, but Dr. Wang brought my dog back from the brink of death, and her condition is now managed with a simple monthly shot from this office. When we first brought her in, we had no idea why she had gotten so ill. Dr. Wang reviewed her medical history in detail and was correct in her diagnosis, but ran some tests to confirm. The cost for a consultation was very reasonable. Along the way additional costs were reasonable and much less than expected. Dr. Wang was cost-conscious, which we appreciated because we had already spent so much when our dog became unexpectedly ill. Only necessary tests were performed, and we were able to purchase medications online to save costs and have shots administered by a vet tech to save exam fees. In addition, appointments are convenient, wait times have always been minimal and parking is easy and plentiful. Dr. Wang is extremely knowledgeable, communicative and personable. She is also very responsive via email. I have nothing but great things to say about her and this office and am so thankful she saved our dog's life. If your dog has a special medical condition I highly recommend that you see a specialist here, in addition to your regular vet. If we had known about this specialist when our dog was first diagnosed, it would have saved our dog months of being ill as well as saving us thousands of dollars.
