Such a cool brewery located outside of Austin. The beer is great and they have fun fusions with wine as well, which is fun to change it up. The brewery is on a nice big plot of land with a ton of picnic tables to relax, listen to live music, relax and even walk with your beer around the acres to check out the bee farm, etc. Definitely worth checking this place out if you are heading out to this area for salt lick bbq, Jester King, or somewhere else read more

Had a school event there and it was great. Plenty of seating in and out. lots of room for the kids to run about and having a great staff about was wonderful. only ding was the coordination / distribution of food. Basically they ran out for our guests, and well, there is nothing you can do about it. Events are hard to plan for, especially with family and kids, so we will work with them next time to better handle the food service / serving. The beer was good, the wine selection was pretty good. What i liked the most was the atmosphere. on a cool evening, with the stars out, it was a great place to be to unwind and chill with friends / family. Plenty of parking.. Finding the place...well, thats tricky. Love the vibe of this place! It is a larger venue so parking could be a challenge and it was pretty busy by the time we got there (4pm). They had several food and bev options. This was our 3rd brewery for the day and we also went to Cypress Falls so we didn't stay long. Food was ok- got a pretzel (kind of dry) and chicken sandwich (dijon mustard was the bomb.com). Forgot to take pics of food. :( Hubs got their Driftwood IPA and said it was the best drink he'd had all day. Added a fun GIF of the bday boy for your viewing pleasure. Lots of shaded outdoor seating and a really cool band was playing. Pretty sure they were called "Batty"?! The lead singer's mama was going around collecting tips for the band and told us the band was named after her sons cat. She was awesome and so were they! They had lawn games. Vista brewing is such a hidden gem. They are nestled in a beautiful forest of oak, in Dripping Springs. The space is beautiful, and huge! They have many picnic tables inside, and plenty of seating outside as well. Outside, their property is massive. Lots of space for your little ones to roam, as well as a large play place. In the warmer seasons, they often have live music that attracts quite a crowd. The food and drink also hits they have beer and wine, and they also have non-alcoholic drinks as well. Some that the bartender can whip up, some located in the refrigerator as you walk in. That fridge is also stocked with juices for a little ones, and beer to go. The adult food was delicious. They have a variety, including chicken burgers, hamburgers, soup, sandwiches, and sometimes they have specials as well. The kids menu is where they lost me a little bit. Our kids are typical and want real nuggets and smaller cheese burgers which were both a bust. If you have kids under 4, I'd bring snacks ! read more

Sunday afternoon. The ambience was nice. A live band was playing an eclectic selection of country songs at the perfect volume. The service was good. The line at the bar was long but moved fast. We tried two beers, both were excellent. We had the pretzel and french fries and both were very good. (However, a party sharing our table was unhappy with a hamburger that was overcooked, so maybe not everything coming out of the kitchen is great.) The prices were reasonable for Austin. This place just charged us $20 for a "cheese board" that had bately anything on it. Total rip off. Drinks are okay but don't get the cheese board. My wife and I were on a long weekend vacation and went to Salt Lick for BBQ on a Sunday. (Amazing BBQ!) We were looking for a tap room, since Texas doesn't let you buy beer beer before noon on a Sunday. Vista has a huge outdoor seating area and they have a real good beer menu. I got two IPAs. They had snacks you can buy as well and I got a beanie and they had stickers if you ask. Very nice people at the bar and lots of COVID appropriations were in place. I haven't found another brewery on the level of Jester King, but Vista brewing got the job done. It has a great location right by Deep Eddys and Salt Lick BBQ, which allows you to make a nice day trip out of it. Starting with the service, my party and I were seated immediately and were served. For drinks, we ordered 1. Adair 2. Zwickled All the beers were excellent, especially the Adair. For food, we ordered 1. Pretzel 2. Brisket Sandwich The food was also great and a lot better tasting than other breweries, for sure. I did think it was interesting to have brisket pastrami cold, but it was still solid. Overall, I will definitely come back to the spot because they have great food and even better beer. read more

Vista is worth the long drive from Austin. We dropped by on a Friday afternoon, expecting the place to be empty. Surprisingly there were 6 or 7 other groups of people there. Which made sense considering how beautiful the grounds are. We took a long stroll among the wildflowers and the butterflies and the grasshoppers. They also have a spacious drinking area, indoors, which allowed to escape the heat for a moment. We had the saison and the IPA. Both were delicious. This brewery should be on everyone's stop if your going to Salt Lick just down the road. Stopped here on Friday night and caught the tail end of their acoustic live music set which they happen to do every Friday night. They stage by far is the best set up I've seen In the area under a natural oak tree with twinkling lights scattered above. Could easily see this place being a great wedding venue. They also had a nice little hiking trail where there's additional seating and a kids playground located further down. Now let's talk about the beer and the brewery. The brewery is huge and has a nice modern approach with a little Texas flare. As far as beers I ended up trying a flight and by far definitely grab a Barton creek gold on a hot summer day. If your looking more of a full bodied beer destination ipa would be my choice. Can't wait to come back here once the weather starts to cool down. read more

The smoked chicken on top of the butter lettuce salad was not near as delicious as it was the previous times I ordered it. This alone probably would not have led to me updating my review, but I was treated very rudely. Multiple servers are at the bar waiting to take orders. We had already ordered our meal and eaten; my daughter wanted a pretzel. There were some customers standing behind each server, with a slightly longer line to the side. It was confusing; I thought there were multiple lines. Wanting to quickly order my daughters pretzel so I could go sit back down and spend time with my visiting family members, I chose what I thought was the shortest line. The female server shamed me for accidentally cutting in line and sent me to where I was supposed to go very rudely. Completely unnecessary and could have been told very nicely where the line is. Especially when there is no signage, and annoyingly, there are no menus to look at when you are waiting in this required line. You must wait til your turn at the counter to see what the options are, and then hurriedly scan the menu to order, as you are aware of the waiting line behind you. You can feel the impatience of the servers as well. And you're thinking, "why don't you put some menus back at the beginning of the line so that I'm prepared when it's my turn?" But somehow they make it feel like the customers fault that you aren't ready. Also, since there is no table service my father chose to tip 20%, rather than the default 24%, yet when he went to sign they had increased it back to 24%. For rushed counter service with no time to look at the menu! Regardless, I would have left my previous 5 star review up, had the lady at the counter not treated me so rudely and embarrassed me in front of other customers, painting me as an intentional cutter, in other words, a bad person. In her defense, I think she actually perceived that I was. She sure showed me! What a good human, putting people in their place like that and teaching them lessons. Only removing 1 star because I'm hoping the downgrade in food and service is a fluke. Will probably go back at some point to see if that is case or if they have just gotten lazy. Regardless, they really need to make menus accessible while you are waiting in line. It would make it more obvious where the line is, too. read more

Come for the beer, don't stay for the food. We came here for the first time and ordered a bunch of food and beer. The beers are good. The food is not. I didn't realize the current menu is because of covid. The sandwiches were all cold. The pimento cheese dip was good but hard because it's also cold. Literally everything came out of the fridge as they handed it to us. It was a terrible first impression. I understand it's covid, but I think they could've at least heated the sandwiches or tried to make some better food that can be packaged. Great venue. Not sure I'll come back. read more

We go here often especially when weather is nice. The beer is very well done, with a great selection from light to dark. They also feature Texas wines for non-beer drinkers. And with a full kitchen, the food is great. We recently had a reception there for about 30 people. This was in the private dining room with a private garden area. Worked with Emily to put this together and she is awesome, walking us through the process in easy to follow steps. The event went without a hitch, with two servers keeping everything under control. The bar provided drink service, but you can request a drink server for the private room. Food selection is great. Great for drinks and dinner, or for hosting a private party. read more

Vista Brewing is one of the Breweries exempt from the new closed bar order (during Covid19) because of their food to alcohol  sales ratio.  We were excited to make a reservation for a special occasion and were assured (by way of Facebook messenger) that their "kitchen was open and ready for business".   We arrived, ready for some good beer and food. First disappointment:  Their reservation check in system.  A chalkboard sign indicated a table for to-go order pick ups and simply an arrow for reservations.  No employee to greet, direct or be helpful.  2 employees filling to go orders as we stood in what we estimated to be the 'reservation' line.  Several people were behind us when 2 young women cut in front of us and said loudly "Will you take walk ins" and to our astonishment they got an employee's attention who completely ignored us and helped them get a table.   Very rude! Once we were checked in we found a table in the shade and went to get our  beers and food.   Disappointment #2:   No food.  Only popcorn and a cheese plate.  That was it.  We told them we had been assured over messenger that their kitchen was open and they shrugged and said "Don't know what to tell you.  It's being renovated."     I can't understand how they are allowed to stay open with beer and POPCORN sales as food, under the Governor's new restriction.  At this point we already had our beer so we went back to the table to make the best of it. Disappointment #3:   the amount of flies and mosquitoes. We go out to another "farm style brewery" frequently and have never had an issue with flies or mosquitoes like we did here.   Maybe it's one brewery using a spray service vs. not?  Maybe it's dog poop from being a dog friendly brewery (although, so is the other farm Brewery we go to...)  We had 4 mosquito bites while sitting there and this was at 5:00.  Flies were insane. It was a disappointment all the way around as we had really been looking forward to several hours of relaxation, beer and food out under the trees. Added on 7/11: I have not changed a word of my original review, however I am adding a Star based upon the great communication I have had with one of the owners, Kent, who wrote to me after my original review. First time ever at Vista! Also first draft beer (not Crowley/growler) since beginning of lockdown. Such a great spot. COVID: Vista has a GREAT outdoor area with plenty of tables distanced from one another. The ordering process specifies 6 ft of distance in line. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. Beers are delivered in single use cups. They have also started their live music Fridays again where you can venmo the artist tips. Masks are required everywhere but at your table. You can make a reservation on Open Table for their outdoor area. Currently, they are open until 8PM. We brought our own chairs and a blanket to use as a tablecloth. We also brought our own glasses to pour the beers into. I love beer out of a glass so this was a need for me. Overall: This brewery has a ton of good stuff going for it. It's a little out of the way for Austinites (40 minutes), so you've got to make a night out of it. We're generally bigger IPA fans, so there are a few breweries we would check out ahead of this one. BUT they still have a ton of great beers on tap, and it is so worth checking out. read more

In the olden days, I used to begin doings in Hays County with "Ol' Rooster" reporting on the newest thang to visit in my hood. That's now being replaced with "Drunk Rooster" reporting in on another place to consume adult libations in Driftwood, Texas. That's North Hays County folks. Had the chance to check out Vista on their second day of operations. LOTS of beautiful scenery outside, ample parking, and beautiful dining space starts your experience. Although, gotta say many design elements including a seating area and the fire storage tank look just like Desert Door Sotol just down the road. Even the logos are quite similar. I had samples of two different beers and ended up with a kolsch (one of my personal faves). Glass wear with the Vista logo might just end up in my personal bar on the ranch. Might as well sample some of the food as well; bring on the farm to table experience! I started with fire roasted beets, carrot puree, goat cheese, and greens. All components of the dish really worked together. That dish could have been at some trendy downtown Austin restaurant. Next would be a locally sourced sausage plate. I really liked the fine grind of the meat; casing was one of the most delicate I've ever had. Paired with what I would call a "quick" kraut and Vista beer infused mustard. Adding in the wood fired cornbread with honey butter sourced from the farm completed a stellar showing for the kitchen. Awesome experience! read more

We were really looking forward to checking out this brewery for July 4th weekend. We heard great things about their popular beer, Dark Skies, which is why we went there in the first place - just to find out it wasn't on tap for the holiday weekend. Later, we ordered food. I asked if we could substitute potato chips for fries (which they serve as an appetizer) and was told they don't make any substitutions for the chips - which was fine. However, I did need the chicken sandwich to come with meat and bread only, but asked if the toppings could come on the side bc it was going to be shared with a picky eater. They said they couldn't really do that, but they could place an order for a chicken sandwich and add cheese. I said that would be fine. What was delivered to our table was a cheeseburger... We couldn't order the drinks we wanted or the food we wanted. I thought at the bare minimum, I'd try to go inside to get the WiFi password bc none of our phones were getting reception out there - just to find out found out they don't offer WiFi to customers either... the place has so much potential, but unfortunately didn't deliver - won't be back. read more

The drive is as peaceful as the landscape is serene. Like everything in and around Austin, there's a sense of "for now..." And that's why Vista Brewery is a smart play. It may be a drive out of the way now but soon it'll be right in the middle of everything. Hopefully not too soon... On a cold, sunny day, the grounds are a welcomed sight for adults and kids alike. The two buildings are new and impressive but not imposing on the landscape. Now, the beer. The stouts were quite impressive. They were smooth and strong with a distinct personality. I tasted three of their stouts, loved all three for different reasons. My wife had a couple ales and was equally impressed. The food was acceptable but not something to write home about. I feel like they could take it to the next level if they brought on 1-2 food trucks but I get that may not be in the cards for now. Excellent brew pub! Sat inside for the AC on a lazy, hot Sunday (brunch) afternoon. Laid back, family friendly. Enjoyed good salads, pretzels, Spanish omelette and a couple of flights of beer (great range!) Perfect live music from the David Touchton Trio. There is something there for everyone including the wine lover, most of these breweries only cater to brewing beer but Vista also has a good selection for wine. We found our way to Vista during a recent trip to Dripping Springs. It's a beautiful spot a bit off the beaten path but completely welcoming. The outdoor seating is amazing, with tons of pecan trees and picnic tables throughout the property. We didn't try the food, though we certainly tried (the kitchen was closed when we arrived the first time). Beer-wise, the Adair kolsch was pretty good & smooth. read more

A very nice place to have a pint or so. Food is easily ordered with the app marker on the table. You don't have to wait for someone to take your order or stand in line. The ambiance is great for outdoor seating pending the weather is nice. Inside it can get noisy if it is crowded. Parking is where you can find it down a gravel road...I rode my bike there and it was still hard to find a spot. They had a live band when I was there too. Over all not a bad place. The location was easy to find with lots of parking. I wasn't sure what type of beer to order. The people here are very nice and are happy to let you sample. We each had a couple of beers and food. Then we went again for Mother's Day and it wasn't the same... it was very small and the fries weren't fresh cut and were overly salty.
