Stunning experience. This place has to be some of the best food my wife and I have EVER had. We came here to celebrate our anniversary recently after a close friend recommended it. Normally when I hear Italian I think of American Italian - heavy, one note, and leaves you feeling terrible after. Trattoria Lisina was none of those things. First, the location is beautiful. The entire restaurant is surrounded by Texas hill country beauty. The restaurant balances class and cozy in a way hard to explain. The wait staff is excellent and knowledgeable on the menu. Even the small details like their uniforms were excellent. The food is hard to describe. My wife spent an hour post dinner discussing how incredible it was. Every dish we tried was perfection. The fried elements were crisp. The raw elements melted in your mouth like butter. The entrees were executed in a way I've never had pasta! Located in Driftwood, which is a pretty drive on its own , worth it just for the scenery. Heads up: make reservations if you're going on a weekend, we went at 6pm on a Saturday and the place was already packed. The menu has a ton of great options. We started with salads, crab cake, and some focaccia bread that honestly disappeared in about two minutes, soft, warm, exactly what you want before a big meal. For mains we ordered several dishes: the mezzanine ravioli (hands down the winner, don't skip this one), spaghetti and meatballs, and the spaghetti bolognese. All solid, but that ravioli stuck with me. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. The gelato is fantastic, and the classic chocolate cake with salted caramel is the kind of thing you end up fighting over the last bite of. Picturesque! Cheers from Tuscany ! Bravo! This restaurant was well worth the drive. Trattoria felt like an escape to Tuscany. The outside and inside is a knod to Tuscany. I enjoyed my time here. Don't forget to get some gelato on your way out. The service was spectacular and the waiter was so knowledgeable about the menu . Now, let's get into what I ate. Appetizers: Bread- I'm not sure what the proper name for the bread is, but it was so good. The bread was like a warm hug. It had a welcoming taste. I can't even explain it fully. The texture was phenomenal. It was like a cornbread and a roll put together. Artichoke fritters- This dish surprised me. I didn't expect to like it so much. It was fried to perfection and flavorful. I honestly didn't need the sauce . Meatballs- The meatballs were the best I've had in my life. They were covered in a well prepared sauce. I'm awarding 5 stars for our two recent visits. But, there's a point I'd like to make. Yes, this is a dining destination and prices are commensurate with the experience. For most pasta dishes, I'd hit Mandola's in Austin. Save about $10 an entree and some gas money. A few weeks ago I didn't want to venture too far off the ranch. Wife and I ended up at Lisina on Saturday. Calamari to start was crisp and not chewy. Caesar salad followed and was a nice example of the dish. Lisina is also a little skimpy on offering bread refills. We finished with drinks and the panna cotta. Just over $100 for this experience. WELL, the next day I needed to take mom out for her anniversary. Dad has long passed but I always try to do something special. Sunday highlights forthcoming. This time with mom and Rooster along we started with the carpaccio. The presentation really wowed because it looks like red plate until you realize all that color is shaved tenderloin. White plate underneath! The greens, parmesan, and aioli was one of the best I've had. Mom went for the gnocchi; Rooster goes for the Mezzaluna ravioli. This is now Rooster's fave restaurant. I went back to the appetizers section and selected the crab cake. Zero complaints on these dishes. Don't forget mom's wine. Gelato and cake to finish the meal. I think I've dined here once since my 2009 review. Yup, steak pics still accounted for on Yelp. Trattoria Lisina is still going strong in Driftwood. Expect $$$$, this meal was almost $300. We had a great evening here yesterday...our third visit over the years. While a bit wet it was a beautiful evening. Each visit has been spectacular for us and last night was no exception. Wish we lived closer so we could come more often. We shared the large Caesar Salad and the BISTECCA ALLA FIORENTINA...soooo f'n good! Seasoned perfectly with a hint of smoke. My husband and I made the trekk from north Austin to driftwood every Valentine's Day, and a couple birthdays. We moved away but would gladly go back when in town. The restaurant is right next door to Duchman Winery but is not affiliated. Three of us came here after a wine tasting and needed some food, but not a full meal. We ordered the margherita pizza and gnocchi gratinati to share. The focaccia they brought to the table was delicious, nicely seasoned with spices and olive oil. The pizza was tasty albeit a little oily. The gnocchi is marketed as 3 cheese so we should not have been surprised, but it was too cheesy if that is possible. It was just a dairy bomb and too heavy. Went to celebrate mine and my oldest bdays. Love the place from the moment I enter the gate, the vineyard to the right, fountain and patio a perfect setting for any occasion. Indoors pretty intimate however if you sit near the bar it is pretty noisy. Ryan was our server and he was awesome! Always checked in on us making sure we had anything we needed. I had the seafood risotto which was good, my youngest kid had their Lasagna Bolognese and she said it was really good so that is the next thing to try. My family and I decided to go to Trattoria Lisina for dinner to celebrate a belated birthday. My husband made reservations online. When we got there we parked. The exterior is beautiful. We walked in a little before our reservation but the hostess was kind and friendly and seated us after a few minutes. The restaurant has a lot of seating options. I noticed several rooms. We were seated in the main dining room where you can see the chef's. After being seated we were greeted by our waiter who did an excellent job the entire time. They were super busy as it was the day before Thanksgiving but he always checked in on us and made sure we had what we needed. We started with the bread. It came with an oil. It was good. The bread was spongy and the oil added a slight flavor. We also ordered the Antipasti e Salumi Misti which comes with a variety of meats and cheeses. It was a nice mix of flavors and textures. For my main meal I ordered the Fettuccine con Prosciutto e Funghi which comes with fettuccine alfredo, prosciutto, mushrooms, peas, scallions, and I added grilled chicken. It was delicious. The sauce was creamy, the chicken was tender, and the other ingredients added texture and flavor to the dish. My husband ordered the Mangiameli Pizza which comes with mozzarella, capocollo, sausage, red bell pepper, red onions, and red pepper flakes. It had a hint of spice. The sausage was really good and you could taste it as soon as it hit your mouth. The other ingredients added a little bit of extra flavor. One of my sons ordered a Pepperoni Pizza and he ate it up. My other son ordered the Gnocchi Gratinati which has gnocchi, three cheese cream sauce, parmesan, and some truffle oil. He devoured it. Both of my boys finished their meals. As part of the birthday celebration we ordered three desserts. The Tiramisu, a scoop of Gelato, and the Seasonal featured dessert. The Tiramisu was really good. The cake was spongy and the chocolate mixed in with the other flavors made for a tasty dessert. I can't remember the name of the Seasonal dessert but it was mixed berries baked into a a pie crust with a scoop of gelato on top. It was fantastic. The fruit was flavorful and sweet, the crust was perfect, and the gelato added a creamy texture. The combination of all three things made for a delicious dessert. The extra scoop of gelato was the same flavor as what was on the seasonal dessert. It was creamy and smooth. Overall it was a really great place to go for a celebration. Upon entering, there is a lovely fountain - and even in the dark, people were gathering on picnic tables and enjoying wine and food. The dining area is busy and bustling. On a Saturday night, even with a reservation, we waited to be seated. We split the Crab Stuffed Shrimp, which came with generous portions of crab, as well as the Beet Salad with added scallops, and the Pollo Menichino, grilled chicken topped with goat cheese. So we're back at Trattoria Lisina for our 20 year wedding anniversary, and it's perfect in every way. Earlier today, I secured reservations for 8pm. We arrived at 7:20pm and we were seated by 7:30pm. The entire staff from the moment we arrived were welcoming and inviting. Once seated, we were introduced to "Sedona", our server. A very nice, friendly and professional young lady. She recognized that it was our anniversary and advised we would receive a glass of champagne from the restaurant. It was presented to us by one of the co-owners, Anthony (Nino). He shared some background information, and then I realized, I took a picture with his mother, on our first visit back in 2021(see review). Okay, on to the meal. We started with Calamari, and it was delicious. The breading was so light and delicate. Perfect balance. The two accompanying sauces paired with it very well. Next we split a Beet Salad. This would not have been my first choice, but my wife's favorite. So I conceded and shared it with her. I must say, I enjoyed it very much. The very fresh, mixed baby greens, along with chunks of beets and squash were very favorable. We were also served the Trattoria, rosemary bread. It comes with a delicious portion of their special, olive oil, along with a delicate sprinkle of herbs and spices, that that are amazing. The olive oil is so smooth, you could practically drink it. Now for the entrees. I had the Sea food Risotto, and my wife had the "Fillata Marsala". This meal was essentially a slice of heaven. She shared some of her steak with me and I must say, it was steak house quality. Tender, juicy, filet mignon cooked to perfection. It came with a nice portion of asparagus. It was the perfect balance. My Seafood risotto was to die for. I have always wanted to try risotto after watching a few seasons of "Hells Kitchen". This was the entree that Gordon Ramsey would always lose his mind if they didn't prepare it properly. I think it was one of his signature dishes. Well, the risotto I tasted here was beyond amazing. I can't imagine it tasting any better anywhere else. I added the lobster addition ($16) and I must say, it was an excellent choice. There were huge portions of shrimp, scallops and lobster tossed with the risotto mix. Definitely ask for the cheese to be sprinkled on top. To bring this lovely dinner to an end, we added a nice slice of Tiramisu for dessert. It was the perfect dessert for this meal. I cannot say enough about my experience at Trattoria Lisina. This is perhaps my third time here and I have enjoyed every visit. This is not American style Italian food like Olive Garden. This is authentic Italian food, just like it's served in the old country. So if you have a special occasion to celebrate, or you just want a very nice meal with that special person. You will not be disappointed. The views of the vineyards and the fountain are spectacular. We have eaten at this restaurant for years, particularly because of the great dining experience we receive each and every time. Tonight was no different, and maybe even more special! We invited a friend of ours to try out this restaurant because she had never been to it before. We described it as a Tuscan Style environment - a restaurant surrounded by trees and grapevines - feels like Italy for sure. Our dining experience began with a glass of wine and some calamari. We followed that with Veal Scallopini (Marsala style), Seafood Linguini, and Gnocchi Gratinati. Our server brought out the dishes and came back about 5 min later to check on us. Well, unfortunately, my Veal was a bit overcooked, but I was not going to fuss. but my server (I forgot her name!) was very insistent that I send it back because their dining experience needed to meet a high expectation. So I did. Well, the manager came over to further apologize for the issue and delivered a brand new Veal Scallopini to me! What a treat and certainly unexpected. Well, he wasn't done. As a show of his appreciation of our dining there, he also gave us complimentary sorbet to complete our dinner. Yes, this is the highest level of customer service I have seen in a while and yes, we will continue to dine here. August 21, 2025 review ---- I found this place from a influencer reel on Instagram so wanted to try on my birthday. This place is definitely huge and occupied on a big land. Entrance is covered in green and super tall. They also have a cute water fountain garden with plants next to the entrance. We had a reservation made which was taken two days in advance. Upon entry, we were given a table in the right hand side room. Central Hall was full and I could not see any empty table around me. I was craving for margherita pizza so I went ahead with that and my husband got with fettuccine Alfredo with no meat and veggies added to it. We asked them to remove mushroom and they were able to do that. They add some peas, carrots, onions and celery to it. Right after order, we were also provided olive oil with some breads. It was ok, nothing too extraordinary. Margherita pizza was disappointing. I couldn't eat more than 1 slice. I would rate it as 3/10. Pasta was good, very creamy and veggies were a good addition. Portion size is good and we were not able to finish it. Maybe one entree with salad could've been a better combo. They do have bunch of salad options in menu. They also have celebration dessert on the house. When we mentioned we're celebrating my birthday, waiter provided couple of gelato and sorbet options. We chose the mango lemon sorbet. When I was 19, working the summer in New York state, a co-worker's rich parents visited and took our friend group to an Italian restaurant and encouraged us not to hold back ordering on what we wanted. It may have been the most memorable meal of my life. Perhaps I was just hungry, but that lasagna was the best lasagna I'd ever eaten. Fast forward almost two decades, and my husband and I are getting ready to go on vacation to Italy. The anniversary of our engagement falls two days before we leave, so my husband tells me to dress up and drives us miles and miles out into the hill country. It was easy for me to guess we were going to get Italian food somewhere, because Austin is notorious for lacking Italian restaurants. The setting in a picturesque winery with a lush garden and fountain out front assured me we were somewhere special. Eating a meal out at an Italian restaurant is a bigger deal for us than for most people, because my husband religiously followed a keto diet for over five years (to win me over) and lost 215 lbs. He didn't even break keto for our wedding or other European trips, but decided there was no way to do keto in Italy. I just tried keto for the first time for five weeks before our vacation, to lose a few pounds beforehand. I'd resumed eating carbs the day before our date, when I went to brunch with friends. This meal was going to be my husband's reintroduction to the world of carbs, so there was a lot of unspoken pressure for it to be delicious and worth it. Fortunately, it was absolutely worth it! Seeing him cautiously cut off a piece of bread, dip it in olive oil (which is not how Italians eat their bread, but we'll eat the Italian-American way in America!) and savor that first bite will be burned in my memory. Our pasta came out soon afterwards. I got the lasagna, and maybe I was just hungry again, but it tasted as good as that NY lasagna from years before. You could tell the pasta sheets were handmade. I added an extra meatball on top for extra protein, but I definitely didn't need more food, because the serving size was huge. My husband got the gnocchi in a truffle cream sauce. I was kinda disappointed because I wanted to split several dishes with him, and I don't care for gnocchi. However, this was an even bigger deal for him, so I didn't tell him what to order. He got an extra meatball on the side as well. We also split an order of asparagus. My husband gobbled down his pasta but I saved some of mine to go. I was kind of annoyed at the wastefulness that our server put our three leftover pieces of asparagus in a whole separate container. The wastefulness of restaurants is part of why it's harder for me to enjoy restaurants as I get older. We considered ordering chocolate cake (would it have rivaled the chocolate cake from my story earlier?!), but we figured we shouldn't overdo my husband's carbs in one meal, and I'd just had cake at my brunch the day before (and finished it up for breakfast earlier that day), and I still had a few other desserts at home, so we skipped dessert at the restaurant and got our favorite low-sugar ice cream on the way home, which was a much better move after such a big, heavy meal. If anyone wants Italian food in the Austin area, I would absolutely recommend Trattoria Lisina! I would love to come back out again, but who knows if my husband's diet will ever allow it again? read more

Trattoria Lisina is one of my favorite Italian restaurants where all the food is made in-house by an excellent kitchen staff. The restaurant is a great place to celebrate something special in your life or to enjoy great Italian cuisine. I recommend making a reservation either on their website of using the Resy app. This place a very nice so dress business casual but I actually wore shorts and a collar polo shirt since it was 100 degrees outside. I ordered the Mezzaluna which the menu described it as half-moon shaped ravioli stuffed with chicken, pork & Italian cheeses, in a tomato cream sauce. I also got a glass of Ca' Bianca, Moscato di Asti as a refreshing drink for this hot weather. It was not a perfect pairing for my meal so had a glass water for my meal. My wife ordered her usual off the menu spaghetti & meat balls. I believe it was the Mamma Grace's meatballs which was very tasty. The Mezzaluna ravioli was also delicious and had great flavor. It was presented very nicely and truly enjoyed it. Before out meal we also had bread and it was also wonderful with the olive oil. Overall we once had a great experience and walked outside to enjoy the gardens. read more
