Service was very friendly and the food was out almost as soon as we finished ordering. You can tell the food has better quality ingredients than fast food joints. Quintessential greasy spoon food and environment to include gray hairs setting up a slalom with their walkers. Grumpy waitress/cashier "Flo" behind the counter made sure I knew her day was not starting off well and had peaked with "ok" and I was part of the problem ordering food. Food service was slow. Food was cold from sitting on the counter waiting. "Flo" was to busy explaining to others how the recent traffic accident she was involved in wasn't her fault, how could it be, she was asleep at the time he vehicle struck another. Food was delivered. Mediocre is what they strive for. Today they didn't meet thier goal. Food was cold, served on Styrofoam, from cans, with a small bit of melted plastic hidden in my omlete. I was hoping for/expecting retro cool. What we experienced, however, was simply sad. The decor, the sign outside, everything points to the 50s, so no disappointment there. But the food... Well, they seem to have given up. The choices are varied: hamburgers, hot dogs, cheese steaks, onion rings, etc. However, none of it tastes acceptable. There's either too much salt or none. Very expensive for the amount of food you receive at not a very great quality. The Philly cheese steak I got had an old stale bun with a rubbery wet texture like it was fresh out of the microwave. The fries were completely unseasoned, but they were hot and fresh. The burgers are a decent size, but again tasted completely unseasoned and bland. The drinks that come with the combo are very small and completely packed with ice, next to no soft drink in the cup at all. I'm am just completely shocked at how a burger and a cheese steak can cost $14 at a drive through fast food restaurant. Have been coming here ever since we moved here to Manhattan when I was 8. Now when I come back into town, I always stop by and get a chocolate chip milkshake. Nothing special, Im assuming majority of their buisness is returning locals (that have lived here for ages) I say this becuase there are much tastier and much better value else where. I ordered the Fish sandwhich, plain jane blaah blaah, it was hot and fresh but not worth the price, I think they gave me like 20 fries, no lie... and my whole meal was at least 8 bucks! And for 8 bucks I better be FULL! I've been going to Vista since I was a teenager and it has almost never disappointed. The burgers are amazing, very old school and fresh -- my favorite is the Royal Burger that comes on a wheat bun. The ice cream is fantastic and worth the trip out there even if all you want is dessert. This is the kind of old school place where you get your burger and fries in a little plastic basket. Staff is usually pretty good though I have to say that there have been times we've gone in a good 2 1/2 hours before closing and they're a little pissy about having to serve you, and they've put all the condiments and napkin holders away already, which seems excessive. They're good when you go through the drive-thru late at night, though, in case you want the food but want to skip the attitude, ha ha. read more

My husband said the best burgers he's had in MHK since we moved here. I liked my onion rings and mozzarella stick. The inside doesn't make any sort of an impression, but the booths are cool and the framed memorabilia. BUT, the three stars came from the staff. Love loved loved the tall ginger kid working the counter. The rest of the staff is rude. As he put our order in the cocky cook yelled to ask what he said over the intercom while he was attempting to speak to us, the freaking customers. He answered him and said yes, that's what I said. Then politely kept going and took my husband's order, but while doing so a young girl came up and was reading the order off through her headset that he had announced over the intercom interrupting us once again. Then while we got our drinks I hear the cook showing off and speaking awfully to the great guy working the counter. Then the manager yells to him he can go home now. Why not walk your lazy behind to him instead of yelling? Then we went to order dessert and the greetings by the third girl working the front was nothing short of grunts. Even when my husband said "thank you", her reply was "mmhm". Hire more like the young man and get the rest of the staff straightened out. Overall my experience at this establishment was good. I went to the drive through, and ordered the 1/4 lb Vista burger combo, large. Service was quick, back on the road in about 5 minutes. The fries were quite good for drive through fair, they tasted homemade and while they could have used some salt, they were nicely done and crunchy on the outside and hot on the inside. Just like good drive through fries should be, and they did not seem to get soggy as time went on. Unlike Mcdonalds fries which are only good piping hot, these fries were every bit as good from first to last despite cooling. The burger also was good, and again tasted much more "homemade" than other fast food restaurants in the area. The bun was really nice, it was pretty greasy but that's alright with me. The meat was tasty, greasy and not dried out, tasted real good with the melted cheese. I would recommend Vista over any of the normal "burger joints" in town, and they do the classic burger n' fries justice. The burger was much better than the likes of McDonalds or Sonic, and even a little better than DQ, with fries better than all of them. If you are in the mood for a quick burger and fries and want something that tastes more "real", this is the place to go in Manhattan. The styling of the building is also very cool looking. read more

I didnt mind my burger but while eating it I was thinking about & missing Freddys! My O Rings, the whole mini 6 of them where well well done! My kids ordered chilli, lady said they make it themselves, not good! Really missing flavor of chilli or any texture! Also, after reading others opinions..what seems to be happening is that Freddys was once good, maybe even great, but now just tired & sad! I really want to like this place, great location, nice classic americana style burger place, but it just fails every time. I will not go back after the 3rd try. I got the 6 oz. vista burger combo with fries and onion rings. The burger was terrible, not flavorful, and too greasy. The bun tasted really stale and the lettuce and tomato were watery and not fresh tasting. Also the fries and onion rings tasted like the oil was burnt and old. They were extremely hot! Fries definitely taste like cheap freezer fries. The worst. I really hope they get it together because it has potential. read more

When you see the Vista you think, "oh great, another cheesy drive-in type place that should have been shut down years ago." Oh my how wrong you are. Inside they serve the usual assortment, from hamburgers (up to triple), hotdogs, corndogs, and a few chicken sandwhiches to the regular assortment of deserts such as milkshakes, blizzard like mixes, and the not so usual cherry pie. What really blows my mind, and I mean shotgun, was the hamburgers there. If you order "the vista burger," it comes with onion, pickle, mustard and ketchup. When you deconstruct it, you may ask where the m/k is, as you only see an almost clear layer of something on the bottom. I don't know how they do it, and I don't care. This is all the familiar taste of the best hamburger you've ever had, times 100. The beef is full flavored, with the pickles giving just enough bite and the m/k concoction confusing in it's "absence", but there in flavor, and so subtle that it's too good to change. I have, until today, never had a hamburger that didn't need a little of this, a little of that to make it perfect. That was until today. P.S. I'm not an onion man, so I took mine off. The thing is, I could have left them on, (but was on a date...I know, big spender) and didn't want to stink her out. This place is awesome, and the reason that yelp should have 6 stars. read more

I'm a big tourist and was visiting Manhattan to visit K-State campus. I saw this place and decided to try it out. The food was very good and had great flavor. The place had a 60s feel. If I ever come back to Manhattan I will definitely have to come back. read more
