I was somewhat fine during the day when I could occupy my mind with random things, but nights were like a descent into the jaws of unrelenting agony. In the midst of my despair, I googled dermatologists in my area and found Doctor Bagley. I called to set up an appointment and the receptionist was eager, professional, and cordial when I requested a consultation for my fiery bunghole. Upon my first visit, the nurse was lovely and very empathetic. Dr. Bagley himself was exceptionally professional and fun, which was a welcome surprise to someone whose anus felt like the central gathering for a party of fire ants. He gave me comprehensive instructions on how to eliminate symptoms so I could finish my school finals with more than two hours of sleep and gave me a prescription for an anti-fungal pill that cleared all symptoms within two days. I had several follow-ups and each time, he was just as fun and professional. He even gave my wife and I sunscreen samples because I mentioned she burns easy. (I'll spare details) He absolutely saved my life, without me even knowing that I was in trouble. I was focused on my brand new baby. He is also our family doctor and pediatrician. He always makes sure that we know the science behind things. He gives out his cell phone number and always texts back right away. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for answers to my concerns regarding fevers, broken bones, infections- everything. David Day is also awesome. We don't see him as often but when we do, we are always pleased. I suppose, by way of constructive criticism, I would say that I'd prefer a designated "sick" side of the waiting area, rather than everyone being just mingled together.

For a while, even though we no longer live in Rexburg, we made the drive from Idaho Falls for a long time just because no one cares like Dr. Hopkin. We lived in Burley for a while and I did not find one provider that could care less about me. So even then, I'd plan trips to see family around when I could also see Doc if I needed to. He's so considerate and funny! He makes the awkward things less awkward (like my very first pap/mammogram). I was pretty sad that he no longer does baby deliveries like he used to. He was even the first one to suspect my mom's first brain tumor. She'd been to several doctors asking about her vertigo, etc. But Doc made her go get an MRI which showed the tumor. His discovering it allowed her another 2 years of life. Most of which was fairly normal, considering. The only reason we don't go now is because we have new insurance through my husband's job and Doc is out of network. That being said, sometimes we go to him anyway to get answers if we think our regular doctors aren't taking us seriously enough. On top of it all, Dre, the receptionist, has been there for years and she has always been wonderful.

We were seen by PA Black, who spent less than 10 minutes with us. He diagnosed the bumps as unspecified dermatitis and prescribed two creams (Triamcinolone and Desonide). He also identified the bump on her foot as a wart but provided no treatment. The bill came to $328 after insurance adjustments. The billing code stated "OFFICE O/P NEW MOD 45 MIN," which didn't reflect the actual time spent or complexity of the visit. I left two voicemails with no response, visited the office in person, and was told the billing rep would call me back--she didn't. After multiple follow-ups, I finally spoke with someone who explained that the charge was due to her being considered a "new patient" (despite being seen five years ago) and the condition being "moderate," resulting in a level 4 charge. When I asked to speak with the provider who entered the code, I was told he likely wouldn't remember the case and is too busy. I was then directed to contact the CFO. I have no issue paying for services rendered, but this visit felt over-coded and the follow-up was frustrating and unhelpful. Just a heads-up to others: you may be charged significantly more than expected for what seems like a simple visit.
