There was plenty of parking at 12pm on the Saturday when I went, but it was a little bit of a chilly day. The beach area was beautiful and they had some picnic tables and BBQ's by the mangroves. There are lifeguard stands and plenty of sand to find a comfortable spot. There is also the broadwalk, in which people were walking, roller-blading, and riding their bikes. I had to pay $10 to park, which would be for the whole day or even just an hour. The only thing I think that could have been improved is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Beach bathrooms are never that sparkling clean, but these were smelly and looked like they haven't been looked over all day. So all in all, a great place to enjoy the beach if you can stand the smelly bathroom.

Keating Beach Park is off the beaten path at the far north end of the Hollywood Boardwalk. This park was named in honor of former Hollywood Mayor David Keating. He served as a City Commissioner and Mayor from 1961 to 1986. In 1963 he took a walk on this stretch of beach and it cemented in his mind that it should remain public. For the next two decades he led the fight to save this strip of beach from Sheridan Street to the Hollywood-Dania Beach line from Hollywood Inc., a development company that claimed they owned it, not the city. On September 4, 1981, the Fourth District Court of Appeal sided with the city and decided that the 1.5 mile of beach belonged to the city. Anyone who uses the beach here today has David Keating to thank. Today Keating Beach Park is under construction. It looks like there is structural damage to the pavilion and it is fenced off. There is no parking in this area either. The restrooms are closed and the slide is gone. Still the beach remains a glorious wide strip on sundrenched sand. This area is frequented more by locals than tourists. Here is to hopping that Hollywood gets the repairs done and opens this area back up soon.

The sand is so soft and clean, with not a single bit of seaweed. This was so surprising, as just a few miles away there was a substantial amount of seaweed. There were palm trees that offered a perfect amount of shade if you prefer to lie and read your book or take a nap on the beach. Be sure to layer on the sunscreen, I used an SPF 60, and still walked away a bit flushed. The water was very comfortable and clean. I took a swim a few times, and this is in April. Why can't every beach be like Keating Beach? But wait... there was a lady who came and was yelling profanities, I thought she was on her phone, but she was actually just venting loudly to herself. She had all eyes on her, there was no stopping her. I suppose that's one way to exercise your freedom of speech! Keating Beach is as perfect as they come. Hopefully you won't encounter the minor interruption like I did.

It is popular for its winding roads, numerous cul-de-sacs, and water front views. There are 1,000 single family homes built between 1985 and 1995 and sixty five percent of the homes have a lake view. It is very family friendly community. . Jacaranda Lakes Park amenities include 2 shaded playgrounds, one tennis court, a half basketball court, a community pickleball court, picnic table, open play space, and restroom facilities which are open during daylight hours. All of the large old shade trees add to the natural beauty of this picturesque park. There is even a small hill that kids were enjoying riding their bikes down. My favorite part of the park is the half mile jogging course with exercise stations. The path winds around the back of the park between the canals. It's a great place to exercise and bird watch. In addition to the ducks and wading birds near the water the open grassy area had burrowing owls. I only saw one little guy peeking out of his burrow but a lady exercising told me that she sees them out every morning. Burrowing owls are considered endangered, threatened or of special concern in nine U.S. states. Unlike other owls, they are not strictly nocturnal and are active during the day. They make their nests in underground burrows, which are dug out by ground squirrels and they prefer open grasslands. They are pretty timid and will usually pop back into their burrows if you approach. It was so cool to catch site of one. He definitely picked a home with a beautiful view.

This park has many great features and has recently been renovated by the City Of Plantation and our HOA. The park has a private parking lot with 1 handicapped space. There is a covered pavillion with a men and women bathroom which is normally open from sunrise to sunset. There is a single tennis court and a shared Pickleball/Basketball court. There are benches for spectators and a fence which is locked overnight. The kids playground is pretty big and serves many ages. There is plenty of open grassy spaces with some hills for kids to run up and down and a large flat space to play a pick up game of soccer or football. There is a gravel path which winds behind some houses along the lake. The path has some exercise benches and apparatuses for an outdoor workout. This park is very pretty because there are so many trees to sit under and enjoy the fresh air.

It's just across the Ritz Carlton at the intersection of A1A and Sebastian. It's a beach open to all, but mostly frequented by the LGBT+ community. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent. Almost always there's someone with nice music, so you have the option to be close to the sounds of music or take a quieter place a few feet away. The beach has some nice shower heads, so you can rinse off as you come in or leave the beach. Close to public transportation, shared rides or public parking lots, it's easy and convenient to most people who live in east of Federal and between Las Olas and Commercial. Check it out.

Poinciana Park is a nicer than average neighborhood park. It is named for one of my favorite trees…read morewhich is instantly recognizable by its bright red blooms. Spread out over six acres, this park has an exercise trail running around the perimeter of the park, a fenced in basic playground with climbing structures, slide, and swings, basketball courts, picnic pavilions with tables and grills, 2 tennis courts, sand volleyball court, and open area for play. Every neighborhood in Coral Springs has a park. I discovered this one while running errands in the nearby Royal Eagle Plaza. The park was the perfect place to walk around and get some fresh air after Ian had passed although parts of the walking trail were under water and a lot of palm fronds were down. This is a very nice place to take the kids to walk, play, have a picnic, or exercise on one of the athletic courts.

There are several parks in the Crystal Heights neighborhood, this is the South Park. Since this is a neighborhood park there is no parking lot or restrooms. There is however a very nice shade covered playground with climbing structures and slides. There are also swings. The park also has benches, a grill, sand volleyball court, and large open area for play. There are trees for shade and nicely maintained landscaping. This park is ideal for exercise, taking the children to play, or having a cookout. This is a very nice recreational amenity for the neighborhood.

The congested beach front…read morestreet runs from Las Olas Blvd to Sunrise Blvd. Back in the 1970s and 1980s this was the place to party during spring break with cheap beer and wet t-shirt contests. Now its condos block the sunlight and have high end restaurants below. In 1997, the Beach Place was constructed in front of the Marriott Hotel with new bars, restaurants and live music boasting patios overlooking the ocean in an attempt to upgrade the strip but once thriving it is now almost completely dead. The mom&pop "I Love Ft Lauderdale" trinket shops still exist with the two story iconic Elbo Room on the corner of Las Olas Blvd, but as recently seen the originality is almost obsolete. The wide beach is still a tourist destination but its open beer laws are strictly enforced. I kinda think the boardwalk has lost its fun and dont get me started on the price of parking.
