The Hollywood Beach is here to socialize and enjoy the sun and is much less congested than the iconic Fort Lauderdale Beach. Usually clean of debris, not much seaweed and the life guard stands are positioned throughout the beach for safety and unmanned after 6pm. My wife and I love to take a stroll along the boardwalk, listen to live music at the bandshell on Johnson Street then take off our shoes and dip our feet into the water as the moon light glistens off the ocean. Sometimes we relax in the lifeguard stands and people watch. Certain times of the year, the jellyfish fill the beach near the water and will sting if bothered. As a kid, my family and friends hung out further north on Scott Street which was less congested with limited chaos but may be slightly boring. The Hollywood Beach is well kept and a wonderful addition to South Florida. read more

For those interested in a touch of "old Florida", Hollywood Beach is a gem. The boardwalk has generally resisted being turned into an upscale resort, and still hosts unique characters behaving um, uniquely, and a peppering of funky murals. You can still eat beachside at reasonable prices, and get your drinks to go from tiki bars, to drink on the sand. Amenities will cost you, though. Two beach chairs and an umbrella will run you $60 for the day, from Boucher Brothers in front of the Marriott. Best to bring your own if you can; if not, it's worth splashing out for. read more

The night before last, a good friend of ours invited us to accompany her to Hollywood Beach for a Drum Circle. We had never been to one and were excited to go. There was a Full Moon predicted for that evening so that made it very special to us. We drove north on A1A to Hollywood until we reached Perry Street and then searched for a parking spot. It was not easy to find. The trail to the beach was not easy to travel either so those with walking disabilities would be advised to be cautious. You can probably make it to the beach but explore it first or use a walking stick. The leader brought extra drums for those who wanted to drum. Other brought their own. All age groups participated. It is more of a quiet crowd. It was cold that night and luckily we brought a jacket. We got there just before sunset and stayed to see the full moon. What a gorgeous sight that was! The drumming was very soul touching. We will join our friend again next time she goes. It is the second week of April and Hollywood Beach is already busting with beach goers. This beach is 2.5 miles long, and so is it's pretty active boardwalk. Despite the fair amount of people, it is still super clean, the sand is white and very comfortingly soft. You can walk with bare feet without any concern that a sharp rock or shell would cut you. It's not a bad idea to use caution anyway. The palm trees are plentiful along the entire beach, you might even find some coconuts hanging from some. Be sure to exercise sun safety and use a high SPF, bring your own umbrella or you may rent one. Don't count on the palm trees as a source of shade. The water is super clean and surprisingly super warm for this time of year. There is a bit of seaweed, but nothing significant that would keep me away. Hollywood Beach has come a long way. The area around the Margaritaville Hotel has really helped transform the boardwalk--tons of new restaurants, shops, and places to hang out. It still has that laid-back beach-town vibe, but it's way more polished now. The beach itself is clean, and the water's usually clear. Plenty of space to spread out without feeling packed in. They've done a good job maintaining the sand and public areas. Parking is surprisingly easy compared to other South Florida beaches. There are several parking garages within walking distance, and they're reasonably priced. Big bonus if you're bringing family or gear for the day. Also love the racquetball courts and all the activity on the boardwalk--bikes, joggers, music, etc. It's a super nice place whether you're just coming for the day or making a weekend out of it. Well, this area has improved a lot since Margaritaville Resort moved in. The beach is pretty clean. The water is not always so but that is another story. I like how they have buckets for people to collect trash. This definitely helps keep the sand in better shape. There are a lot of restaurants on the Broadwalk. The only one I really recommend is across A1-A. That is Le Tub. The restaurants on the beach are not too exciting to me. They have live music by the Clamshell most days. People like to sing and dance. There are also several video cameras that live feed onto Hollywood Beach Cam YouTube channel. Having grown up in Florida, I had the luxury of visiting and experiencing just about every beach Florida's Atlantic, Gulf and Caribbean waters had to offer! It was a fun and exciting childhood. Most of the beaches I visited in my early years, with a few exceptions, were baron of many current commercial establishments, modern amenities and traffic. They were lacking both convenient facilities and diversity of things to do. I miss that. But, they have not lost their allure, beauty, nature, aesthetics or grandeur. Hollywood Beach is a perfect example of how it has always focused on and has been and is one of the most perennially sleepy and relaxing beach areas of the state yet with pizzazz. First of all, if you enjoy doing it, it most likely can be done here. For the relaxing type you've got from walking, beachcombing, sightseeing, sandcastleing, snorkeling, swimming and more. For the more exotic you've fancy and lowkey restaurants, tiki lounges, street vendors, you name it. As for accommodations, nearby you can stay at high end hotels, good motels, B&B's, or other rest stops which abound - or just pass through from point A to point B. I simply love walking up and down their brick paved boardwalk, stopping in at every shop, sipping from every tavern, eating from every eats joint, watching skaters, bikers and more gliding past in a relaxing and relatively serene surrounding. My fave time of day is dusk... just as the sun begins to set behind you can gaze at the Atlantic's blue shimmer as it begins to grey with the darkness of night coming towards you, eventually enveloping you in a dark shroud pocked with stars and maybe, just maybe, the beautiful moon floating above creating a waving and rippling reflection that will mesmerize your evening - very romantic. Stopped by Hollywood Beach and had a pleasant time. There are plenty of garages, for parking, and the area is kept clean, with law enforcement on the beach and roadways. We stopped by Margaritaville and saw lots of people trying to conquer the "Flowrider." The beach is immaculate and they do a fabulous job at having plenty of beach chairs for rent. That also includes opportunities to go parasailing or jet skiing. You could walk for quite a while and stroll past many eateries, souvenir stores, and entertainment. I highly recommend Hollywood Beach. You'll have an enjoyable time and have plenty to do. read more

Parking was easy to find and only 7 dollars. The ocean was clean with barely any seaweed, and I had a great time swimming and chasing waves. It's not that packed until you go east, and the boardwalk is pretty and cool to walk on. I also like how they have those shower things to wash your feet after the sand :) read more

This is a beach that reminds me of the beach I used to go to a lot from home. That is Venice Beach in California. I enjoy walking on the boardwalk on Hollywood Beach. There are people from all over the world who come here to enjoy this beach. I also like to go in the water. It is relaxing with the pretty white birds along the shore. The maintenance staff keeps the beach looking spiffy. I often see someone picking up trash that beachgoers leave behind. The restaurant selection along the beach could be better. I do like Florios Pizza the best out of the bunch. The cheese had a good flavor. Afterward I like to get an ice cream cone. There are many places to choose from. There are many types of shops to browse. This is a less hectic beach compared to Miami Beach. It has it's own charm. read more

Hollywood Beach in the Miami Area is comparable to Venice Beach in the L.A. Area. Both of these beaches feature prominent boardwalks for biking/skating/walking, plentiful bars/restaurants/shops, and people-watching opportunities. Street parking around Hollywood Beach is pretty feasible and easier to find than those near Venice Beach. It's done through an online company and/or app ("ParkMobile") and averages out to a little more than $4/hr. There are also a couple of larger public parking garages around Hollywood Beach that charge $10/hr or $50/day. In Venice Beach, small private parking lot rates run you about $20/visit. In terms of the beach-going crowds at each place, Hollywood Beach felt like the safer, more family-friendly location of the two. Venice Beach does have a more active and lively workout/sporting area (i.e., there are more facilities, like basketball courts and a skate park, at Venice Beach), with more people engaged in athletics here. Hollywood Beach was lacking in these types of facilities/offerings. Also of note, Hollywood Beach's public restrooms that we were able to find and use are only a step above having port-a-potties (one for men and one for women)--There just aren't great public facilities like restrooms or drinking fountains at Hollywood Beach, and for that, this place doesn't deserve a perfect 5-star rating. Hollywood Beach does, however, make up for the shortcoming of public facilities thanks to its geographic merits...it's part of a long stretch of beautiful oceanfront on South Florida's East Coast where the sand is soft, the water is warm/shallow/aqua blue, and the weather is mild (winter) and/or workable (summer) year-round. We ended up making three lovely visits here, twice at sunset and once during the morning/afternoon, doing everything from entering the water to biking along the boardwalk, to walking along the shore during a full moon. We'd definitely come back to visit in the future. read more

Hollywood Beach is a fun place. When I want a touristy beach day, I come here. You have the boardwalk (sadly, not actually made of boards) which has plenty of food and drink options. Plus, I love that the ocean is right next to the boardwalk. There's often live music at the bandshell across from Margaritaville. Parking is kinda high and the beach can get kinda crowded, especially on weekends. read more

The streets are tight driving down and you may have to drive around the block or to the next street a time or two to find a spot. It felt safe and family oriented. Rental bikes available. We had fun people watching. Oh, disappointed that they haven't reduced parking prices for the Fall/Winter like Pompano Beach/LBSea Beach! Nice white sand beaches that stretch out to the Ocean. The beach area runs about 2.5 miles and is clean and well kept. Paid parking in the lots or on the street will run 4.35 an hour and you can pay via mobile AP. The boardwalk runs the length of the beach and has restaurants, bars and shops all up and down the beach. On any given day, you can see people running, rollerblading, bicycling, or just walking up and down the boardwalk. During the winter, it attracts a lot of tourists. My opinion of the area is that it's a bit gritty, which isn't a bad thing, it's just they've been talking about renovating for years and some of the hotels and apartments look like they haven't been touched in 30 years, the bars and restaurants on the boardwalk also have seen better days. Margaritaville is always a safe bet, but it can be pricey. All in all, it's a nice beach and one of the few areas in south Florida with a boardwalk to walk along the beach. read more

I love Hollywood Beach, located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, this is one of Florida's finest stretches of sand, the beach is ample, clean and well kept. Hollywood Beach is famous for its arts & culture scene, shopping boutiques, and loads of beachfront restaurants & bars nestled along the Atlantic Coast. Several parking garages and street metered parking spaces, make finding a parking spot not a problem (unless there is a MAJOR event).... I love walking along the Boardwalk and checking out some of the nice shops and restaurants. Traditionally, this beach has been a favorite for many French Canadians, so it is not difficult to hear French being spoken along the beach and boardwalk area. My favorite hometown beach. It is a family-friendly beach. It is one friendly beach. You have so many things you can do around this beach. You can have a drink, rent bicycles, take a nice walk, eat at a casual or nice restaurant, listen to live music, have the kids play in the park, and much more. The beach is clean and nice. It is one of the places where the city of Hollywood holds festivals. They do allow dogs on Surf Rd designated dates. That is the doggie beach. That is a nice street. You have to get permits from the Rangers a daily pass or a six-month pass. They also give you the park rules. The beach has public meter parking. I think 3 parking garages now and parking between the streets. During special events and dates, this beach gets crazy crowded. the city offers special transportation. you normally have to park downtown and take the transport. It is worth taking this option and avoiding the high parking rates that come with every special event. read more

Beaches, restaurants, etc. Beautiful white beaches as far as the eye can see. 2 miles worth of promenade along the beach. Theater, children's water playground, arts park, etc. Downtown hosts - concerts, music festivals, dance exhibitions, shows, art exhibits, and much more. Water on both sides of the strip. I suggest planning at least half a day here. Unless you have kids, then I suggest a full day. Service - N/A, caters to tourists so service is accordingly. Price - Tourist prices. Stayed in Fort Lauderdale for a few days. My group and I decided to take a water taxi and explore the area. We ended up at Hollywood Beach. We really liked the boardwalk. It seemed like there was something for everyone. Plenty of retail stores, different cuisines and entertainment. I was most excited about the beach. It's been a while since I've been to a beach, so I went back two more times during our trip. There's street and garage parking available. The beach is clean and well maintained. Although it's not white sand, the clear blue water makes up for it. It wasn't too cold for a swim either. We rented beach chairs with an umbrella for the day by the Margaritaville resort. It was $80 for the day. A server from Margaritaville comes by every so often to take your order. I had already dined at Margaritaville once, so I decided to get takeout from a local biz instead. I stayed on the beach for 7 hours and just took in the views, sounds and smells. I would definitely go back! read more

Nice to be able to stroll along the beach promenade on a sunny day to enjoy the surf and sand. So luck to see a rainbow and the moon after a late afternoon shower. Love the vintage architecture of the Art Deco and mid-century modern homes and hotels built in the 1920s and 1930s. The blue and yellow lifeguard stations are so cute and add to the beachy vibe. The beach can be breezy so be prepared. Parking is available at a garage or along the road if you are lucky. Bring sunscreen, pack a lunch and have a fun day or afternoon at Hollywood. read more

Another great spot to chill however I do not like seeing dog poop on the sand and thought is was a restricted area .I do love dogs but no poop on the sand . I am also highly allergic to dogs and cats and can't touch them without gloves so when one wants me to touch them I will be sick for the entire day. Love the sound of the waves and the beauty of the beach . So glad it only takes me 18 minutes to get to beach I remember when there were no parking meters but the city is greedy. I went as usual to paddle on the beach, between the Northern most lifeguard stands just south of Sheridan st. Water was rough and I sold not have tried. But in stubborn! Right off I was knocked by the rough waves and pulled a muscle in the back of my left thigh. I could not move! A sweet couple helped me out and rescued my board. Renata and Pete - lifeguards in the area, helped me get off the beach and load my board. I cannot say which good things about these two. They were amazing. I got my board loaded and went home. But I've never had to have help, they were gracious and helped me get through this. I go often and this has never happened. Without them I would have miserable. But they saved my day. Didn't get paddle but met some extraordinary lifeguards! I'm home and in my pool letting my cramp calm down. I literally could not have made it without them! read more

Oh Hollywood Beach... how I love thee! This is by far my most favorite beach to visit. Between Fort Lauderdale Beach and SoBe, this was a great spots for locals, as far as crowds go. (At least it was before.) Nowadays, Hollywood Beach has definitely been on the up and up! There are a lot of new businesses coming to the area and the tourists are coming with them. There is ample parking between Hollywood North Beach Park, street parking, and garages. Hollywood North Beach Park requires you pay at the gate in the front whereas the street parking and garages could be paid either by the meter or using a mobile app. If you have the mobile app, I'd recommend this so you can add on extra time if you want without having to go back to the meter. Whether you want to skate/bike/walk on the boardwalk or relax on the sand, this beach is a great option! read more

One of my favorite beaches! This place has many parking lots and multilevel garages along the way; just make sure you get there before 10:00am on the weekend as they all fill up quickly. I like the Margaritaville garage as it has restrooms right near the beach to change at. The Boardwalk is a good distance and has a dedicated bicycle lane, which is a real bonus, so you don't get run over by them as you're walking along. Along the boardwalk are many restaurants with outdoor patios. The beach is in great condition and clean. There are lifeguard towers along the beach as well. The beach water gets warm by May, but that's when the seaweed starts to arrive as well. read more

I'm going to start by saying I'm spoiled because I grew up on the gulf coast, so my beach expectations are very high. There are just way too many people that go here even in the off season. There is trash all over the beach and in the water (bad for marine life). You can get some ok pictures if you crop all the people out. It's not a shelling beach. It is located in the boardwalk. The water looks like it could be pretty at times, but cold because it is the Atlantic side. You can rent umbrellas and chairs or bring your own. read more

This was my second time at Hollywood Beach. If you're looking for somewhere with a great view, great service, fun vibe, nice Bluewater and overall a relax place to be - I recommend Hollywood Beach. I highly recommend that you rent a bike. They have a couple locations in this area free to rent a bike. I enjoyed just riding up and down the boardwalk. Some thing about Florida always warms my heart. I think because of the weather in December is just amazing. They have a ton of food restaurants to eat at. Also if you're looking for souvenirs they have a ton of stores to look at. You can catch people just laying out at the beach or jogging, riding bikes, walking up and down the boardwalk. In this area you can find public restrooms. Very important to know no pets are allowed, and they are very strict about that. I highly recommend this beach. read more
