Tucked quietly in the back of one of the shopping centers in Oak Grove (behind Napoleon's) this dream of a yoga studio offers great classes in the hatha, yin, restorative, meditation vein of things. So lovely to see a non-chain yoga studio. Well designed space with a calming aesthetic. Teachers are friendly, deeply knowledgeable, and great at working around whatever your body is doing that day...whether chronic or not. This was the first place I went to "do" yoga. The instructor, Marty, was very kind and welcoming and made it easy for me to "catch on" and offered modifications to postures which was super helpful to me as I was getting the hang of it. The instructors here are VERY good. It's almost like you get personal yoga training as the instructors give ample 1:1 attention throughout the class, are welcoming and encouraging. I also really love the space. It's very large and plenty of room to spread out facilitates the use of props since you a lot of space for your supports which are available there. It's not uncommon to have a blanket, bloster, strap, blocks, a thick blanket, and sometimes add a chair and ball, AND use all of them. They really focus on getting circulation flowing everywhere. Highly recommend for anyone from new yogis to people wanting to master more complicated intermediate postures. read more

This class was so outstanding that I can't wait to take another one. I found Vista Yoga on ClassPass. To be honest, I had registered for TWO other Yin classes consecutively that both forgot to upload their streaming link. It was so frustrating. I had low confidence when I booked Vista Yoga, but third time is the charm! They were totally efficient with their livestream communication and I was so happy. Sheila's Yin class was small but mighty. I immediately resonated with her calm, soothing nature, which resonated brightly even through the screen. So often, I find myself disappointed with Yin classes, mostly due to the poor sequencing. However, Sheila's sequencing was challenging and made me feel well-balanced after class. Her teaching style just clicked with me, and not to mention, she had a wonderful southern accent! Can't wait for my next class at this lovely yoga studio. read more

I attended my very first yoga class here, which was led by Mr. Marty and what can I say, it was such an experience! As a first time yoga-er I believe that this class was great. Not too hard, not too easy. Perfectly balanced. I came across this yoga studio as an option on "Class Pass." My roommate has a membership with them and was able to send me a coupon code allowing me a free class, which was awesome! The class lasted a little bit over a hour, which definitely flew by. They provide all of the materials needed: mats, belts, blocks, etc. (no need to purchase, they come included in your class fee) I would love to Come back to this studio for another round of classes! Location & parking: the studio is located right behind the restaurant in the plaza, you will see a huge Yoga sign telling you where to go. There is more than enough parking as well (free). read more

I discovered this studio driving by the Oak Grove area (I live nearby) and in all of my experiences with different yoga teachers and studios in the areas, this has to be my favorite. I definitely agree with some of the other reviewers--Marti is by far the most knowledgeable yoga instructor I have met thus far in my yoga journey. Not only is she knowledgeable, but she is very attentive to EVERY student in her classes, making sure she doesn't miss correcting alignment or giving an adjustment on just about any posture during the HOUR AND A HALF long class. While some may think that $70 is a lot to pay for five classes, you have to take into consideration that each class is an HOUR AND A HALF long, and Marti's classes always include a beginning and ending meditation. I love that there are a variety of props used in the classes, and there are always enough to go around. The studio itself is gorgeous, and I love that there are no mirrors. It's a perfect spot to get centered and not flustered on your outward appearance. I always come out of class here feeling stretched out, calm, centered, and ready to take on any challenge that life will throw my way! read more

I purchased the 3 class "first time student" package, which is a great option to get acquainted with the studio. Having tried a variety of classes now, I can tell you that the practices are as challenging as you want/need them to be. All of the instructors that I've taken a class with have shown incredible attention to each student while not sacrificing the quality of the overall practice. The space is quite lovely - large, open and comfortable. As others have noted, there are always enough mats and props to go around. This is just a very, very welcoming place. read more

My kid and I purchased the 3 class first time student package and we have tried a variety of classes (usually on Sundays). I like it because of the real authentic feel and the great teachers-- Unfortunately, my daughter wants something more fast paced---back breaking kind of yoga. For years, I rolled my eyes at the pretension I encountered with most yoga practitioners; so it was with more than a bit of skepticism that I started coming here about six months ago. I've found Vista Yoga to be wonderful and the instructors nothing short of authentic and nurturing. I enjoy the classes and am grateful for the lack of aerobics style yoga. My poor shoulders couldn't take it after playing rugby, soccer, and Gaelic Football in my youth. I've found my life enhanced by coming here and highly recommend it for people who feel as intimidated as I once felt. The space itself is lovely and I like their focus on community and service. My only suggestion would be some midday class offerings for those of us who work nights/evenings/weekends. read more

Well, I've heard about this place for years and even knew 2 of the yoga teachers, one who's no longer there, I took some yoga classes at my gym Northeast Athletic Club and I was like, hmmm, there has to be more. Well for $49.00 you get unlimited class attendence for a month. Wow, my times in pool and on bike have decreased quite a bit. My PR on bike is now a normal time, and I've increased my workload in the pool. I thot all the peeps @ the studio would all be standing on their head and OM'm and I'd walk in and they'd all point and laugh. Nope, all kinds of people in there, some as out of shape as I am. The teachers are real cool, they'll let you adjust your pose (I over did it and the ball of my right foot is throbbing) so you won't be hurt or overdo it. I would say this isn't a way to get in shape but a way to support your existing routine. Earliest Class is 8:30 so if you're an early riser there is a 6am class at another studio - toco hills but it's hard core (weights) and I figured I'd get injured and there's another studio but it's a 2 hour class and I can't do that. So Vista Yoga is perfect. I did a restorative class last night and it was slow easy stretching - wow Ieft there fully energized, Yoga done right is amazing. This place has the recipe just right for this Goldilocks, Not too hot and not to wimpy :-) read more

I visit this studio for Reiki. I sometimes purchase ready to wear and accessories from the studio. My last visit, I shopped the clearance rack (sign denoted all items on rack 50% off). After deciding to purchase the hooded shirt, the price was not reduced as per the sign. The studio's owner communicated the shirt would not be reduced because the red number indicated the final price. This was not indicated on the sign. I suggested a percentage should be given for the error. The owner, never turning away from engaging in her cell phone, replied, "You do not have to buy it, love. Many people look at it." (never looking at me); referring to me - a customer - as "love" is never acceptable. I replied, "Because of your comment, I do not want it." I hate to go against all the glowing, five star reviews of this yoga studio, but I just didn't love it. The things I did love: tons of free parking (drive around behind Napoleon's), super mellow/relaxed vibe (no pretension here), and a very welcoming, friendly and helpful receptionist made check-in a breeze. The studio is calming from the moment you walk in, and I loved the beautiful artwork for sale. They also have truly beginner classes and cater to all ability levels. Lots of yoga studios "say" that, but here at Vista, they actually have stand alone gentle yoga and beginner classes, which is nice if you're just starting a routine yoga practice. The things I didn't love: I understand it's new year's resolution time, but allowing 25 people (yes, I counted) into one yoga class with one instructor was way too many people. We were literally wedged in like sardines - maybe 10 inches between mats- and the instructor wouldn't let us stagger our positioning on the floor to more easily accommodate the gigantic class - we all had to be up against a wall. Thankfully, it was a gentle/restorative yoga class, so there weren't a lot of big arm swings or leg rotations, but every time we did one, I was rammed up against the cubbies and my neighbor's leg was on my mat. There was a good amount of focus on breathing, but not a lot of focus on form/posture. Though the instructor walked around during the longer poses to correct people and help them into the stretches, there were so many people, that if you were one of the last people she came to, then you might have been doing a pose wrong for five minutes. It was also a bit of a cluster getting the right materials. This particular class needed lots of props - blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps, etc, but there was no one there when you walked in to tell you that, so several people didn't have all the props they needed when we came to the poses that required them, so they had to get up and sort of "disrupt" the class to get them. I tried Vista through ClassPass, and I'll give them another try because I liked the more homey and welcoming atmosphere as opposed to the corporate/competitive feel of most of the studios in my neighborhood, but I'm hopeful I'll get a more personalized experience in my next class. It's hard to focus on your stretch when your neighbor's foot is in your face. read more

As a transplant from NYC, I struggled for a while with the relative lack of yoga studio options in ATL. But what I really cared about was quality, not quantity. And this place has that, bigtime. The instructors are great-- smart, clear, with well-thought-out sequences (so far I've enjoyed Shonali's, Elizabeth's, and Marti's classes). The vibe here is mellow but organized, and the space has a well-cared for feel to it. Seems to attract a nice, laid-back crowd that's serious about yoga but not self-important about it. Special sweet bonus: there's almost always little healthy snacks prepared and waiting when class is over. Only downside I can find is that I have to drive 20 minutes to get here, but that's not the studio's fault! I am so happy to have found my yoga home here at Vista Yoga. Just sealed the deal with a 10-class pack, so I should be going more frequently! read more

I am an Atlanta based photographer who has rented one of the studios for four different magazine photo shoots. I love shooting there because of the high ceilings and overall feel of the studio. I went to Vista Yoga and took their 7:30pm Wednesday class (called Gentle/Restorative Yoga). It was an hour and a half long and was not physically intensive--the movements we did were mainly stretches. There were probably about 15 people in my class and it was a diverse crowd--some young, some old, some new to yoga, some yogis, etc. The studio was wonderful--it's small and quiet with fountains, lots of mosses and flowers, and chimes outside of the door. Immediately when you walk inside, you see that the lights are dim, the space is covered in beautiful decorations in deep colors, and everybody is speaking in a whisper. If you don't have your own mat, they have plenty you can borrow. Also, for this class, they provided blankets to place on top of your mat for added cushioning. They also had plenty of blocks and other props to make sure you could do the stretches comfortably and without risk of injury. I had Marti as an instructor (the place is owned by a married couple--Marti and Marty--how cute is that?) and she was wonderful. She guided our movements with a soft voice and corrected anybody who needed it as we went along by coming up to each person individually and correcting them in a calm and supportive way. There was no rush to go through the movements- she took the time to make sure everyone had all of the necessary props and were comfortable in their stretches before moving on. The class ended with us all lying down in a neutral state and she came around and tucked each one of us in with blankets. Talk about relaxing. Overall, great class, great instructor, and great studio. I'd recommend this class to anyone! read more

This yoga studio, Im not sure if I would call it that the room and space are quite large and beautiful, is awesome. Enough said the teacher is attentive to almost every student and did I mention the space from the bathroom to the yoga room itself amazing. The classes are very dynamic and engaging, and there is a nice variety of different classes-something for everyone! Fruit and tea are offered after every class-quite a treat! A sitting area encourages people to chat, read, and relax. A small shop to browse is nice way to pass the time before class starts and find your favorite yoga goodies. Vista Yoga is run very professionally, offering an array of class cards and membership options, class fees can be paid via a number of credit cards or online where you can sign up for classes and manage your classes. In only three months of taking Marti's classes, I learned more than I have ever learned about yoga, breath, body, thai massage, and movement. Vista Yoga was a breath of fresh air when I moved to Atlanta. As soon as I walked in, Marty made me feel welcome. The teachers have been knowledgeable and attentive, props and mats are readily available for students to use, and the studio itself is very clean and calming... I always leave relaxed and refreshed after a class. There is also plenty of free parking by the entrance in back and no loud outside noise (traffic sounds) to interfere like I've noticed at some other studio locations. I was so excited when Vista Yoga built their studio in the Vista Grove shopping center a few years ago. The space is beautifully appointed and the yoga studios are large enough to accommodate even the most popular classes. Although I attend only three classes each week (my favorites are 10 AM T,Th,Sat All Levels with Marti - thanks Marti), Vista Yoga offers many different yoga classes - from gentle to basic to all levels, from restorative to Kundalini to a more vigorous Vinyasa flow. The studio hosts frequent yoga workshops which are very interesting. A kitchen area was added 2 (3?) years ago or so. I have attended a few of the Ayurvedic cooking classes; the recipes were great and the attendees were all able to enjoy the yummy food after the class. Vista Yoga has always been very welcoming.
